    The dog isn't buried above ground, you're supposed to heap up graves like that because over time they'll compact. If you don't heap up a mound of dirt, it'll become a shallow grave as the earth settles and dip down. Don't look at me weird I learnt that reading Grapes of Wrath.

    So something I don't recall if ya'll have discussed much, but Sam lightly touched on in this episode: I've always been of the belief that Izumi's emotions are a bit of a misdirect. While it's sort of made out for us to believe that his emotional state is due to Migi integrating into him, I actually think the majority of his emotional dampening is due to grief. Izumi is a teenage boy who just lost his mom, and he was also literally murdered by the person wearing his mother's face. That's pretty goddamn traumatic. We're showed signs that he still cares - him going to get the puppy and trying to help it, and holding it gently until it passed is compassionate, and guaranteed not something someone unfeeling would do. It's just that some of his emotions are being suppressed right now, and that coupled with the logical bolstering from Migi's integration is, IMO, why Shinichi is seemingly so distant at present.

    Another thing for me was the way he went, "if i hadnt done that, she wouldn't hate me". Cold, caring more about how he was perceived than how she felt.

    By burying the dog under the tree, the tree becomes a grave marker, the dog's death becomes nourishment for other creatures, and life is connected.
    I feel that what the author wants to convey in this work is the reality of the cycle of life and death, and that the dignity of death is what makes us human.
    At least, Izumi thought it was better for a puppy to die quietly, warmly, and watched over than to die alone on a noisy street, so his kindness is conveyed.
    If you read the original manga, you will understand it better.

      I think there is a conflict between his parasitic callousness and his desire to regain his humanity.
      (Although it may be more of a spiritual strength to overcome difficulties rather than callousness.)

    That wasn’t a shallow grave, if you watch enough anime you will notice that in Japanese culture building a mound on an unmarked grave is done out of respect so others would know something that used to be alive is buried there

    That scene with the puppy was straight-up heartbreaking and trauma-inducing. But great callback by Morgan. On how Izumi handled the kitty situation vs the puppy. Apathetic and logical Izumi might be a badass. But I miss shy and sweet Izumi, he had an endearing energy about him.

    • @talhamirza2020
      @talhamirza2020 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      He is still good since he treated the puppy good when it was alive, it's not that crazy when you know there is 30% migi in him. "trauma-inducing" get a grip

    The puppy's death is symbolic. It symbolises that the little bitch in Shinichi has died and he is now on a Sigma male grindset 😎

    I am pretty sure that Shinichi is still in shock vs the lack of empathy being caused by the parasite dissemination.
    Blunting of affect and lack of empathy is a common sign of depression.

    i don’t wanna hear any negativity toward Kana, yeah she wasn’t the smartest, was naive, but wasn’t annoying, i can understand her getting jealous & everything, & she so deserved better

    • @user-ff8oz9cp2q
      @user-ff8oz9cp2q ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Absolutely true. She is just an adolescent teenager. She can sense his presence with her sixth sense. No wonder she took Shinichi as her soulmate. She is so cute and has a pure love heart.

    • @brandenkerley
      @brandenkerley ปีที่แล้ว +15

      I disagree. Kana's misguided view of love is a liability to herself and Shinichi. Not to mention entirely one-sided. Furthermore, she blatantly ignores Shinichi's warnings. Kana serves only as an annoyance for Shinichi imo.

    • @Alellion
      @Alellion ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yeah? It's not annoying to try and break up the relationship of someone you don't know just because you're attracted to the guy? It's not annoying to stalk him every time you get the opportunity, and have him set as your phone background without ever having a real conversation with him? Having a guttural instinct of jealousy is one thing, but any decent human being wouldn't express that jealousy, realizing it's petty and completely unwarranted.

    16:55 My mean can you really blame this girl??? What if you had something drawing you towards someone else to the point of being able to sense their presence coming ever before they’re within eyeshot of you? I feel like most people might think it’s something special, like that if a “soulmate”

    Most of us guys find Murano EXTREMELY ANNOYING, asking 4 out 5 times 'You are Izumi Shinichi-kun, right?' and is always uncertain whether to be with him or not. We fully support Kana and she is the waifu of the anime.

    Openings are meant to be watched, if they actually spoiled they wouldn't make them the way they do. They're there to show you some of the excitement in store, set the tone, set your expectation for the type of story it's going to be etc. Watching anime OPs is to watch it the way the creator(s) intended.

    • @carterblomster741
      @carterblomster741 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      “If they actually spoiled”… lol
      There is pretty much always spoilers in anime OP’s. The directors of the openings don’t usually worry about what gets revealed later on.
