I feel that they should share in your vision and knowing where you want to go. The saying Rome wasn't built overnight and will try to steer you in the right direction.

A manager should also know what the fans like , to help the artist more about what type of music he must do
+ a manager must be thérapeutical to his artist, NO DRAMA

Thank you for making this video man ! That's a really good one that I'll come back to in the future. The manager I had talked a lot and sounded like he could deliver on pretty much everything you mentionned but he just sounded like it. He never shared anything about his work and never communicated on his progress for my career which made it very hard to trust him. He promised a lot of things and never delivered. He also wanted me to be a totally different type of artist, because I would become "easier to market" so apart from what you said, I think the manager should also be trustworthy, communicating very well with the artist and actually believe in the artist and not to change him/her.

Thank you for this info. I find this so helpful and useful as an upcoming artist myself so
I know what to expect from my artist manager. I’m from London, UK and my manager is also my friend from uni. He’s been learning about me as a performer and that I’m determined and got some good potential. That’s why he decided to manage me this year 2022. He has been promoting me on his Instagram account but not reached to many audience. He invites me to perform at open mics where I did so well. He encourages me to perform at open mics weekly but because I have a day job so I go there on a monthly basis. He has not really prepared me for any shows, not looked for promoters or booking agent to help boost my career. Like you said it’s important to find a team of people to connect and work with an artist. I asked him how he would help me as a manager, he will help develop my music, guiding to my music and push my music further for more exposure and to produce a good song. Also, to give career advice and help with planning. However, he can’t promise to make me rich and famous or get a platinum but he will do his best to help me to get the best out of my talent. Of course, it’s a gradual process and depending the amount of audience I have listening to my music. He should come into backup plan so we know what to work on and have regular meetings on my music career. He has given me support but it’s limited amount of support I get from him. I know that he is a music student like me and he’s not looking to pay anybody. By the way, I thought he was honest but doesn’t have promises. He hasn’t got back to me about the best deals for my best interest. We’d meet to make a plan for my video shoot and we’ll be talking about marketing plans for it. I obviously would have to pay as I’m releasing my new song through the distributor. What if manager doesn’t pay me for my career, what would be advice on how to talk it about with him or anything?

I would love to work with you. I think my music describes this phase that I am in very well but not in a cheap way. it's more organic.
in my opinion, I have a lot to improve but I think my songwriting ability is very good.
I think my sound and style will be influential.
I am still working and searching for my sound and because of that I have lots of different style tracks but I hope you will like it.

Hopefully music artists here aren’t taking this advice from a point of entitlement. A lot of musicians think you should do everything when a lot of time the artists are lacking in communication or lack of drive. With that being said if you are doing all that and the music manager isn’t responding, or aren’t making any connections after 3 months maybe it’s time to reevaluate

Depends on how much time you can alot yourself and how capable you are at making connections and getting events. Short term it might not be an issue but putting in 2-6 hours a week for a year can get exhausting.

The thing is if they find you they're gonna be a lot more happy to help because they believe in you compared to if you just hit them up they might think of you as you need them but without you they wouldnt be managing one less person

You left out the problem with an artist when then don't do a number of things. Market themselves as an artist. Going off script. Changing people around them constantly. No financial structure. When the only thing they can do us write songs.......
