From Clockwork Orange (opening, ending), to Terminator (the haybale), to Jaws (the catfish bit), Nosferatu, Van Helsing (the horror segment) Saving Private Ryan (the war chapter), The Matrix (Bank heist), and Alien (final boss). Might've missed a few more even.

Conker told us pressing B was always going to be usefull to the situation so me and my friends just rolled with it. Mordern games could seriously learn a thing or two about this game.

Not quite. Rare started making Conker as a light hearted family friendly game. However when they first announced it they got a lot of flack for doing nothing but light hearted family friendly games. They got so frustrated they decided to turn the game into the exact opposite and this is the result.
Fun story: Conker Live and Reloaded was the first game I ever played to completion. I was 7. By far the most traumatizing parts were the squirrel internment camps/Teddie Labs and obviously THE FUCKING COUNT DRACULA BLOOD INFLATION GRINDER DEATH SCENE... oh and the fucking gears...
I have never seen someone struggle so much with CBFD outside of the safe. sometimes the game was giving him shit I've never seen it give, and other times vinny was just... wow, he was bad at it. I kinda feel sorry for him.

I mean, it controls like ass regardless of platform, but surely a version made for the og X-box would play a _little_ better than a straight N64 port.

While it is a classic for being an m rated platformer, Conker might actually be Rares worst 3D platformer. Tooie, Kazooie, DK 64 and then Conker as rock bottom.
Conker is a jack of all trades but a master of none. It introduces so many different gameplay styles but never fleshes them out enough for them to get interesting. The moment you get used to one mechanic, it's already on to the next one. And since none of the mechanics are used for very long, they didn't get polished enough to feel intuitive and smooth.
my parents bought this game for my brother who was 10 years older than me and i walked in at always the worst moments, like the catfish getting devoured and the big bat exploding, they had to hide the game so i wouldnt get anymore traumatized
