There are so many inks these days and they have the most exotic names.

Keeping up with the latest pen releases is difficult but keeping up with all the new inks is impossible.

I usually like green inks, but quite choosy about them. I’ve tried four of the Lamy Crystal inks but really didn’t like any of them. A little too dry, the colors looked ordinary out of a nib on the page with normal writing, even the ink names were quite off. Ditto the pricing of the bottled product. This Peridot appears to be exactly all of the above.
Lamy blue-black is maybe the only ink of theirs that I liked a fair bit.
A green that I’m currently liking much is J. Herbin’s Lierre Sauvage.

Hi Sajjad, I like the standard Lamy inks. They are not a wow but they perform well and the bottle with the blotter paper dispenser is a great piece of design. Their Crystal line seems like a miss.
I am a long time fan of Herbin's standard ink line but I have not yet tried Lierre Sauvage.

I'm surprised as to how "whased out" the color looks like. From my experience with the Lamy crystal line, I'd thought it would produce richer and wetter lines when writing. But that comes from my experience with only one of the inks from that line lol
Lamy Azurite was one of my first inks (I was looking for accessible sheeners), and it was the worst introduction to the FP hobby I could get. The ink is such a mess, it is so wet, takes a lot of time to dry and it bleeds through lots of types of paper. I recently found a pen to use it with - Moonman A2, because its EF nib is decent and the vanishing point-like mechanism helps me from not touching the nib too often and having to deal with having blue hands for 24 hours...
If my story somehow made you curious to try it for a review, I don't recommend you buy that ink yourself, maybe just a sample!

Lamy Obsidian is very rich for sure. Peridot looks lighter in my pens perhaps because of the dry flow. When I use dip pens it looks darker because more ink is going down on the page. Looking at other ink swatches of this ink there is a bit of a range in color. Not sure what to attribute that to.

I have a sample of that I haven't tried out, so I should be able to do a review.

Peri-dot, peri-doe, both pronunications are fine in standard English. After decades living all over the place, I’ve stopped being fussy about pronunciations and have learned just to enjoy them. But not that ink. I don’t dislike it, but it’s not particularly interesting, either. It looks more teal to me than olive green, the color of peridot. Teal’s nice, but peridot isn’t teal. And that’s not an exciting teal.
There’s the problem for me with fountain pen inks - more and more colors start looking like more and more of the same. There are so many colors on the market, hundreds of reds (if not thousands), hundreds of blues, hundreds of greens, oranges, browns, cyans, turquoises, teals. So many of them look the same, just tiny movements along the color map. Then there are all the attempts to come up with something really different - blue with red sheen, purple with gold sheen and green shimmer, maroon with green and pink. Some of them are in just horrible taste, many seem designed for swatches but not for writing. They’re idiosyncratic, but like clowns at a clown convention - all different in the same way.
You have your job cut out for you when you interview inks. What makes an ink really stand out - in a good way? What are you looking for when you choose an ink to review? I saw a guy review an ink in October from an outfit in France, a spectacularly beautiful (so far as I could tell on my computer monitor) burgundy red, not expensive, but only available from the manufacturer in France. I want to try that one. Partly because he was excited about it, and his excitement was contagious. Have you seen any inks recently that excite you? If you have, I’d like to hear about them.

I don't try to keep up with all the new inks. I care about the performance and most really interesting inks aren't great on the performance/maintenance front. It's not new but I've been enjoying Sailor Ink Studio 123.
As far as my criteria for choosing inks for review, I don't have that fully figured out yet. I will review all my favorite inks for sure but I need to think more carefully about the inks I sample for review. J. Herbin's 1670 ink line has a lot of interesting inks but I don't think the glittery ones are good for fountain pens.

In the US at least it is pronounced “peri-dot” with the T. And no, it does not look like any peridot specimens I have seen.

Thank you for letting me know the correct pronunciation.
