Storm spotter & chaser, Daniel Shaw supported by other storm spotters relayed reports via amateur radio to the National Weather Service.
This video shows the evolution of one of the more spectacular tornadoes of the 2015 tornado season.

It's very beautiful. That time lapse as the wall cloud forms is gorgeous - like an animated impressionistic study in greys by Turner.
When the radio guy said he'd only ever seen one other core like that - what did he mean? Was he referring to the ghostly translucent tight skinny funnel extending out from the larger denser funnel? I'm sure I've seen that a few times - though maybe not quite so long and skinny

I subscribed to your channel. I like the way you conduct yourself and that you put public safety ahead of anything else. I have blasted many a chasers because they lack the ethics and know how of being a chaser, instead choose to do it for the thrill of the moment and not into saving and protecting lives. Keep doing what your doing because you are a rarity. National weather services need more individuals like you out on the road and in the field. I grew up in Kansas and Texas so I know all to well the dangers of severe weather. Thank you for what you do..

Him and Pecos Hank are always looking out for safety! If they see a car/truck on its side or know that a town has been hit, they stop the chase to do search and rescue and check on everyone. I am devoted to these channels because of that!

@@katherineduke3232 Agreed. Pecos is another one of my chaser hero’s who out life over everything else. I get so frustrated looking at chasers who laugh and carry on as if loss of life and property are funny. So I give serious kudos to those individuals who are really out there with a purpose of research, alerting the public and search and rescue.

i know these are kind of old comments, but i wanted to add: really, it just comes down to a lack of respect. people who just do this to chase an adrenaline rush don't have respect for how horrifically powerful nature can truly be. it's people who are knowledgeable, researched, devoted, and experienced who understand fully well what kind of destruction and life-changing havoc can occur during these storms. respect vs. naiveté.

      Oh, I know this.
But southwest Florida is not getting a ef-4 or 5. No fingers of God.
But I was recently in a tornado or strong wind gust.
I was at my storage yard. An watching the storm roll in about a week ago. Rain came and u jump in my truck. Winds picked up pretty good. So I have a lifted truck and where I sit at the yard its protection from the way the winds were coming. So I just waited.
Even thought yo myself its tornado.
A few days later. My employee says to me "there was a tornado reported at the local news paper.
I looked at him and said I was at the yard when it came through.
He didn't know I was there and didn't realize the newspaper is right next door.
I said I verify there was a possibility of a tornado to him.
I just gave him that are you kidding me right look. When that whole conversation started. He had no clue of the information that I had. He wasn't persuaded by me and it was a random conversation with us. Lol

That's because a tornado is actually a rotating column of air, which is the actual tornado itself. The dust and clouds that it picks up allows you to see the column of air, the dust and clouds doesn't make it the actual tornado, it just allows you to see it.
