Very nice to see also some videos from NZ on your channel! Christchurch looks very beautiful, has also a very interesting small tram, reminds me of San Francisco. After getting out of the city, the traffic decreases a lot, and we enjoy the wonderful pleasant nature of the South Island. The road is built some kms in the inland, so we don't get the chance to see the ocean, but we will get close in the next episodes. Thanks for sharing, greetings from a road-tripper from Germany!
58:30 in you notice a change from agricultural land on both sides of the road to vineyards, the wind turbines on the left are there to keep the air moving on cold nights, to protect the crop from frosts.

I love the scenery along here, the hills between the road and the coast all dried up, showing its summer time, but it strikes me that nearly all the trees along the road at present exotics rather than natives. The blue gums, the poplars and pines. I would have loved to have seen in before European settlement with native bush and the song of native birds as mentioned in Cooks journals.
I was surprised to see you turn right onto Manchester Street and head south, heading north there would have been a more direct route. 7:48 have probably moved on now, but when turning into a multi-lane road in NZ, the road code states that you should take the first lane, this allows traffic from opposing directions to turn at the same time. Obviously at 10:55 when you were in the left of 2 right turning lanes you need to select the second from the right in the next road.

It’s definitely a change from the native bush, but a beautiful drive nonetheless.

Terrific, it has the level of Switzerland & Austria, the best in Europe.
what level are you talking about? level of traffic? level of road condition?
@@Sam-747 Road conditions, I would say.Anyway for me even Chamonix ( France ) is also one of the best towns I visited.
