    To cut the speculations, it's my bike with the string and a sticker. The string was a sloppy improvisation (usually the bars aren't that low :O), I removed it on race day and hung the bike by the handlebars (the referee didn't allow me to do it during bike check-in). The sticker is from Zell am See 2018, the whistles = cut offs. It is the first time ever my bike is so popular, thanks guys! :D

    Re: the bike guide, my guess would be these are the on course stations? Fork & knife = aid station, wrench & screwdriver = mechanic, whistle = penalty tents

      The bike guide is a sticker handed out at Zell am See as part of the sticker pack, which took place a week earlier than this race. My guess is that this person was at Zell am See and didn't take the sticker off. The wrench/screwdriver combo was where the mechanical stations were and the whistles indicated penalty tents.

    Hi at 3 mins 54 seconds. Those aero bars look like the profile ones from the late 1990`s early 2000 they were called the Profile Air stryke the pads are spring loaded. When you want to use the aero position they will go down onto the base bar. The idea of these where when they are in the sprog up position it gives you access to the top of the base bar or drop bar for a extra hand position.

    I love to run. I love to swim and I love riding on my bike. When I am a little older I would like to try triathlon. Well... that's a maybe because I know it is very hard. But will definitely try.

    • @paulogoulart6839
      @paulogoulart6839 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's mostly hard(er) on the run (after the bike), but of course you should start by doing a Sprint (or even a Super sprint), it is not very hard, at least compared with this one, 70.3... ;)
      But go for it as soon as possible, even the transitions are (very) fun!

    I have the Vision drinks bottle too for my bike. Real nice and tops up at front on top. Only issue is top it up too much and the fluid pops the rubber cap and then drenches you despite the baffles. The measure is at the front so not helpful when you are topping up when riding...

  • @denisdrc5836

    Wow, surprised by the amount of food guys take with them. Looks like the're going on a decent picnic (personally, I take 2 - 3 gels for 90k, no solid food for half IM)

    • @kajet666
      @kajet666 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      2-3 gels give you 45-70 g of carbs. The recommended carb intake, according to various sources, is 60 g per hour or 1 g per kilo of body weight per hour. You should ideally have a bit of a surplus in your stomach at the end of the bike (because of how hard it is to eat on the run). Isotonic drinks give you some carbs, but that's about one gel equivalent per bottle. So you're a light-eating racer IMO. Also, many of these athletes chose solid foods because there is a long slow section on the bike. I imagine they wouldn't eat biscuits or whatever on a flat course going 35-40 kph, but in Nice it's a game of different opportunities ;)

    My first race a couple weeks ago I couldn't get my saddle to sit on the rail regardless what side I tried... had to rest the shifter/brakes on the rail... I'm 6'6" (198.4 cm) have a 63cm bike.

    • @kaasgaafnl
      @kaasgaafnl 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've got the same issue quite often as well. If the rail isn't high enough then my saddle won't be able to go underneath it, or maybe just but then the rear wheel will be on the ground and the bike is flopping sideways. My solution is to use the bottle cage behind my saddle to hang the bike on. The bike will be a bit more forward than the others but at least it will be in the correct direction. I don't like to hang my bike on the handlebar.
