Me and @ModelA love the rich history of the Ford Model A and Henry Ford!
In today’s video I share with you the first Model A motor, the hard working men on the final assembly lines as the put together these beauties, then once these Model A’s are put together there is so much care that’s put into these Model A’s before they are put into the new owner’s hands and if you stick around to the end, the question is answered…”does the first Model A motor still exist?”.

My dad worked on the assembly line at the Rouge plant in 1927. He retired from Ford in the sixties.

My first car was an early 1956 ford Fairline 2 door it came with an ordered heater and radio .I got it from my grandmother who had bought it new .with 156000 miles on it and it still ran like new .that was in 1974 .It's still my favorite car i ever owned I wish i still had it.

The Ford Dealership at 4:40 was at 215 South Main Street in Rochester, Michigan. (Look at it from the West Main Street Alley side and you'll see a glimpse of what it looked like).
It was originally opened and operated by partners C. Lawrence “Larry” Jerome and Oliver N. Phillips.

I like how the Ford River Rouge plant seems to be surrounded by heaps of slag and ash, the product of production.
New sub. I am a former NHRA Super comp and Top dragster racer and rat rod/hot rod builder but nothing beats cool old stock Model A's. In the recent months A's I see for sale out here on the west coast have sky rocketed in price. My wife's family farm in Southern Illinois used to have old A and T parts and bodies laying everywhere in the weeds. In 1993 when we were there for a visit all the parts were gone. Since the farm was no longer in use and the folks had passed years ago no one was out there regularly so apparently someone discovered them there and took every bit of it. When we were there a year earlier I was going to ship a bunch of it home at that time but thought we'd wait and rent a van to haul the stuff back instead. Oh well.

Yes, all of this new technology is interesting and all, but I hate it at the same time, it’s lowered the quality and taken away millions of jobs from hard working people.
@@Modeltshinn That's it exactly. We need a nation filled with men and women working in industry, constructing useful, practical, and more simple products. We have a car shortage right now in America because of chips?? I honestly believe there's far too great a reliance on computers and like-components. I also believe there are analog solutions that should be explored, but are not.

Hi ' Model T'. I'm a new subscriber to your channel.
As for Ford motors. When I married in September 1977, I lived near the Ford Dagenham factory which was situated in the county of Essex.
I can remember the hive of activity, that accompanied the shift changes at the plant. Ford's certainly created much needed employment for local people. The local council also constructed many new homes, for those workers.
I'm very sad to say that the Ford factory has mostly disappeared now, and new homes are being constructed on the old site.
Dagenham was known as, 'A town called Ford'. Such was the dependency on local businesses because many of the workers spent their wages locally.
I send my kind regards to yourself and Paul, for your interesting films. Regrettably I never owned a 'Model A Ford' but I did own a 1955 Ford 103e 1172cc 10 Horsepower sidevalve. Loads of fun, and the rod and cable braking system (Girling) was very efficient. Cheers.👍

Until a few years ago it was still not unusual for me to spot a Model A in my hometown, yet some had already been adapted with other engines in the '70s and '80s. Once in a while I see a red one whose owner told me he got it adapted with a Chevrolet 153 engine and a 4-speed transmission from a Chevrolet Opala.
It’s sad to me when things are changed, Chevy engine in a Ford vehicle, just doesn’t fell right 🤪😂

My Grandfather started with Ford right after WW2 and my Dad was the last to retire from Ford in 1988. I worked for Ford in 1978. We all worked in the Monroe Michigan Stamping plant and the Sandusky Ohio Plant. We are a Ford family!

I'm pretty sure Model A #1 is at the MAFFI Museum at the Gilmore Automobile complex in Hickory Corners Michigan and NOT at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn.

When I was at Gilmore in2020 the car was there with the same story and a pic of Henry for stamping the number 1
@@kevkath1 I was there in 2013 and saw the phaeton with engine #1. However, the one in the era film clip was just stamped "1". As I recall, the one at the Gilmore was stamped "*A1*, the typical way Ford stamped the rest of the 4.8 million or so engines.

It wasn't running in those pictures. It has no distributor, among other things. This looks like the run-in line on which the engines were spun by large motors to reduce internal friction before being installed in the cars.
Unfortunately work at Ford in those days was very hard and monotonous. Turnover among thd workers was extremely high despite Ford's generous compensation. However despite this the Model A was a wonderful automobile, technically up to date and very attractively styled, thanks to Edsel Ford's artistic talent.

1:10 I reckon it would be easier doing up those bolts if they weren't a moving target!!!! Love how they 'hook on' to the car and it tows them along... then they scoot back to do it all again!
Everything about the way they did things back then, I have so much respect and admiration for them 💕
Now the vehicles are on a moving platform. Workers have a floor that is tied to the workpiece and moving at the same rate. (I toured the Rouge factory a few years ago and watched them build pickup trucks.)

Just think how it felt trading in your 1918 model t with 40,000 miles on it for a brand new 28 model A ford and so happy you got $ 86.00 for your trade in. ☺ lol.

The Model A was Edsel's Idea and Henry was against it. The Model T would Not wear out where the Model A would.
There is an entire video outlining the Model A that was given to Thomas Edison. It is not the first one ever.
There’s a lot of videos outlining lots of different subjects, some are way overdone. I didn’t know of any so I made my own and so far people have enjoyed it.
You could'nt just say yes or no, you had to explain the whole history before telling us.
Then I’d have no content lol
