Momo sensed his voice even when he was in the sea. Luffy died. Full stop. Kaido killed Luffy. Most fan theories I’ve seen think that one of Gear 5’s activation requirements is stopping the heartbeat of the user so that the Drums of Liberation can activate.

He had to put forth more effort into the actual fight going forwards from the moment Luffy started using acoc. 2 major instances are right after the sky split happens and when he gets g5, the 2 biggest amps Luffy got. Kaido only loses control over the flame clouds entirely at the end but clearly was putting in more effort into his fight with each slight buff Luffy was gaining over the course. Sure, going sober might have weakened him a bit but a bloodthirsty Kaido is stronger still.

Add future vision, which he only used at one point in the fight, when he could do much more, while Luffy constantly saw the future. That is to say, Kaido was so good at hand-to-hand combat, that he could be better than users as skilled at fighting as Luffy and who see the future, while he did not do the same. Let's also not forget that Oda did not give him an intention in each of the attacks, as happens with swordsmen, because the kanabo's spikes were for decoration, they did not pierce anyone. Another factor is that Kaido fought with a certain mentality, and is looking to have fun and look for an epic fight that defeats or kills him. Based on that he gave Luffy certain advantages, Luffy had fun but he wasn't a masochist. If we remove this and add the above, Kaido was stronger than what he showed (his haki even strengthened in the fight), but maybe that took away from the fun he wanted. Another power that Oda did not give him was the awakening of the fruit, which he should also be able to use, but it was not seen, and the final form of Dragon could perhaps do it in hybrid form, that fire seemed superior to any we have seen so far , was closer to the Magma. Luffy has to be somewhere in the ballpark of Kaido’s durability now because of his awakening. I still say advantage Kaido, but I think Luffy is now in the same league as Kaido and Big Mom on durability. Like can you imagine a YC1 character like King or Katakuri trying to pull up on Yonko Luffy 1v1? I just don’t see anyway they don’t get washed as badly as Luffy got washed in Kuri.

Let's be real Kaido fought other people but they couldn't do anything against Kaido only Zoro's attack damaged him (expect Luffy) even after that attack Kaido was still fine as if nothing had happened, Whitebeard took the dozens of bullets and sword strikes and he was stabbed before he started fighting and he was bleeding, his internal organs were burned, he was hit with laser beams he lost half of his head but he was still fighting, he defeated Akainu, he was about to beat even Blackbeard, plus this guy couldn't even use haki properly, and he didnt have a zoan fruit unlike Kaido , he also didn't have the power to regenerate too unlike Kaido, not to mention his age or illness, this man showed us the strength of a real Yonko and still a bunch of people saying Kaido was fighting with other people and they are acting like Kaido was heavily injured and he is already about die and then Luffy came defeated him they were all nothing for Kaido I'm prety sure he lost 3 percent of his health max
