Great to see Barney Frank is consistent with liberal tactics. When asked a tough question: 1. don't answer the question directly. 2. attack whoever asked the question and blame them for the problem 3. mock them and dismiss them as 'right wingers' 4. change the subject, and talk about other unrelated achievements
as in a third point of view, making judgement solely based on this conversation alone, I don't see anything wrong about Barney's answers. what's your responsibility here's my record, tell me what i've done wrong u bailed out AIG that was Ben's idea, not congress's no matter whos right or wrong, i just love the fact that there's a country where a student can take on a high official.
Barny Frank demonstrates his brilliance and facility with the facts that is unparalleled by many politicians, economists or financial experts. Not only did he answer the students question he squashed him like a but.

@@nforcer43 Clearly you are a Republican, and you have a right to your opinion, even though it may be completely wrong. However, I suggest you listen to the conversation again and put aside your political biases. The student is asking, "how much responsibility do you take for the Sub Prime crisis." Barny Frank responds, "what exactly would you expect me to have done to prevent the Sub Prime crisis". Personally, if it were me, I would have responded with one word. "None." And then moved on. This is a classic example of ridiculous partisan trolling that accomplishes nothing. For one thing, what caused the Sub Prime problem was a complex series of events that defy explanation in a 30 second sound bite. Secondly, the genesis of the Sub Prime crisis was years in the making. Going all the way back to lax enforcement of financial regulations under the George W Bush's two term presidency. Moreover, the crisis was just getting started when Obama and the Democrats took over. So how on earth can Barny Frank and the Democrats be blamed for reasons that occured before they took over. I think this dispenses with your somewhat childish and naive comment which is rather ridiculous. But believe what you want to. Fortunately, you live in a free country and are free to believe what you want to believe, even if its total bullshit.

Why does this student think he is there to debate? Are all law students this vacuous? Ask your question, sit down, don't interrupt the person talking. Trying to "nail" someone may make you feel all cozy inside, but it does little good. This kid had a chance to ask a good question and get an illuminating answer and instead wasted everyone's time trying to use a high school debate trick on someone he doesnt like. Must of been the best day of that kid's life when he got on Fox.
I have respect for this student who asked an open and direct question to Frank as far as accountability on the financial crisis and the piss poor handling of money to AIG. It is unfortunate that Frank chose to dance around directly answering the question and play the "blame rethugicians" card while not honestly acknowledging "democraps" are also accountable and to blame as well!!!
"on September 10, 2003, before the House Committee on Financial Services ()regulate Fannie and Fredie(omitted)Frank stated: I want to begin by saying that I am glad to consider the legislation, but I do not think we are facing any kind of a crisis. I do not think at this point there is a problem with a threat to the Treasury.
It wasn't a foolish question but I don't think he made a fool out of Frank either. The congress did pass the TARP and part of that money did go to AIG. There was other money that the Fed gave them and the Fed and Treasury did lobby for TARP but ultimately congress passed it and he shouldn't have been dodgy about that. The subprime thing was before his time though so the kid should have just focused on TARP.
@MEpianist, the question was how of the blame was on Frank himslef. and there was no clear answer. There was plenty of criticism of the student himself and labeling him as a 'right wing', 'anti regulation' guy, but no clear answer.
Barney Frank loves to hear himself speak. Wish he would spend as much time in regulating and watching protecting our money instead of babbling and blaming everyone else. He's a coward. I can hardly listen to his slurrish nonsense.
The student simply asked a legitimate question. Frank would not answer the question....instead attacked the questioner in order to throw negativitiy onto the student.
No one claims that Frank is not clever. But you have to ask yourself if that response of his was what you expect from someone who is responsible, in part, for your financial well being. He's was a lawmaker and a regulator. Now we know that Frank was the on the board for Signature Bank. Connect the dots. Cleverness in the service of self-enrichment and blame dodging is not laudable.
He needs to sit down? A ordinary citizen is engaging in a political discussion with a politician, which is key to a great democracy. If you dont like when people speak out against a poltical fiqure, then you'll love a dictaorship.
I don't see him making a fool of anyone but himself. He attempts to throw accusations and responsibilities onto Barney Frank and backs away immediately saying "oh it was just a question" like anyone with a functioning brain couldn't figure out that kids little shtick in seconds.
the kid didn't make a "fool" out of Barney Frank because the kid had no answer. Frank was informative, fair, and honest. The kid had no idea what he would have done in the same situation. He only had his foolish question.

Where is the full video??? Anyone have it or know where to get it??
Listening to Barney Frank’s raspy voice totally cracks me up even when he appeared on the O’Reilly Factor.

While they both have the right to one vote in an election, Barney Frank was elected to office to vote repeatedly on Bills that effect all Americans.
@LibertyDownUnder Don't invent a high-road here, you're looking to blame Frank and that's that.
Can someone PLEASE have a surgeon on standby for Barney Frank's chronic case of "foot-in-mouth" disease?
"Stop labeling him" wonder if she said that Reagan during his first campaign...
Barney Frank Rules!!!
Barney Frank is so arrogant. Its time for him to retire. Sholley for Congress 2010 !!

and frank is doing what liberals do best, not answer the damn question.
