Sneezy vs Sneezy. The more consistent Sneezy won. Ostapenko is unplayable at times but average serve and extremely high risk hitting at all times results in losses. If she could work on her serve and get some free points or at least get control of points, she would win a lot more. Good to see Annet continuing her form from late last year. Hope she can make a splash in one of the remaining GS too!!!
I thought Ostapenko was going to steal this tournament like she did the French Open. But she simply met her match. It's satisfying when you see two players at 100% -- no excuses, just a result. Highlights should have shown the inflection point in the fourth game

From what I have seen and analyzed of Ostapenko's game, it's that she has a very weak serve, which has no effect, something different from Kontaveit, who apart from hitting hard, her serve is powerful and effective, with a lot of effect.
I love anette, paula and sakkari, aside from being one of the best in todays tennis they are also one of the nicest competitors, regardless of whoever wins, love them both.. Congratulations maria and anette!
I know throughout the tournament the logic has been respected…but Kontaveit is my pick to win 🏆. I think she’s more fluid and manage her nerve a little bit better than Sakkari in big matches . The chances are tight cuz Sakkari plays really well so I can be so wrong too. Will see.

The AO is an outdoor tournament, Anett is the master of indoor tennis. Mind you Maria Sakkari will be no pushover, shes a fighter through and through, it will be a fantastic match if both plays are at their peak. Heres hoping.

Ostapenko looks better than she ever used to, even when she won the FO. She appears to have a little more variety (only a little but still!) and she seems to be more athletic than before. Her game is slowly becoming so much better than the straight up ball bashing that you always see from her.
Congrats Anett, but I have to give it to Ostapenko for the way she slams those service returns down the line. Her points are quick and there she’s always looking for that put-away shot.

And I believe it happened on in Cluij-Napoca at November, when Kontaveit and Halep were 1 and 2 seeds.
