🛠🏆👍 Jesse, you know the Panther platform inside and out. Thanks for another superb video in your series. I like your steady camera work (tripod) and careful and clear explanation of the fix process for the DIY home mechanic.
@@rodneyunderwood6236 I know it has been a year since you commented, but did you get your idle issues fixed? Mine has been a pain to fill up at the pump, is having some idle issues, and just kicked out a P0442 code. Wondering if this video's fix might be what I need...
@@bjmorris7414 It ended up being the filler neck for the gas tank. Up where the gas door is on the driver's side, I looked underneath this rubber cover sleeve where it mounts up against the fender. When I pulled the sleeve back there was a small hole rusted through in the filler neck. So I ordered another filler neck. Watched a TH-cam video on how to replace it. It was pretty easy. Took the left rear tire off, used pb blaster on all the rusted bolts and got it off. Solved the issue. I even had my mechanic do a smoke test and they still couldn't find it. I checked every emissions tube in the car and didn't find anything. Then I checked the filler neck and there it was, under that rubber boot. Crazy. But completely solved the problem. No more gas smell and no more check engine light or code.
@@thomasblake7046 Glad you solved that problem without spending thousands..only difference is im not getting a gas smell so i think I'll try to replace the vent valve first an see WML
@@bjmorris7414 It's pretty easy to check yourself. If you can get the tire off, pop your head underneath and inspect the filler neck. Pull back that rubber boot and see if there's any rust holes. If there is, that's your problem. But obviously a mechanic can do this easier. It would be a quick and easy thing for them to check. Unfortunately the problem could be anywhere in the evap system. Including the hoses, valves or charcoal canister. But I checked or replaced all these things and it didn't stop until I changed the gas filler tube. I feel it's an overlooked possible cause for this issue. But I would definitely have it looked at and you may find out that was your issue all along. I paid $57 for the new filler neck, but I did the work myself. Hope it works out for you.
Hey Jesse I have a P0174 - bank 2 system lean - 4.6 2v. The symptoms are, car starts and runs great when cold but starts to struggle and runs bad when the engine is warm - do you think this suggests a problem between open loop and closed loop? Thanks
Hey bud, I changed that solenoid and the purge valve under the hood of my 01 vic and it cured the gas pump from cutting off when filling up, but I'm getting a gas smell inside the car still yet,do you have any idea what's doing it, I replaced the gas cap too...still getting a large leak in the evap code....????
Hey jesse, im getting a humming noise coming out of the gas tank, i open the cap, and it releases air, humming goes away for 5 mins and comes back on, no check engine, no codes, any suggestions
Mine use to release air and now it doesn't and I e been having g problems with the car not running rite since,,,,,did u ever figure out the problem...??
I got a 98 Mercury Grand Marquis with two keys all of a sudden one of my keys does not start the car it just makes it crank what could be causing that problem
No Kyle let me explain. The old solenoid was working great! But when This code came up (P0442) 5 years ago I bought a new solenoid But after cleaning the OLD solenoid it fixed the problem and I haven’t had any issues since then. I just happen to make a video about this topic now in 2022 and I decided to install the new one I had.
This man says " these don't even go bad they just need to be cleaned" then proceeds to take apart, clean, put back together . installs a new one.
Thanks man helped me out alot this Po442 has been haunting my car for months

Excellent video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much for the video, worked perfectly on my ‘04 LTC, saved me a bunch of money for sure 👍
Thank you dude, I just cleaned mine. My problem is on cold mornings, my crown vic runs terrible until it warms up, then basically back to normal.
I did not get codes, but pump would shut off at three bucks, 45-dollar Ebay part and I too had to break the studs, works great instant fix and cheap!
Did you have idle issues before you cleaned the part?

Great video thanks for the info and that’s a great tripod 😂
I changed both the gas cap and this vent valve on my son's crown Vic. Still throwing the code. Time to go through all the emission hoses.
What was the actual problem?? Im dealing with this issue myself

I have the same problem
Mine is exact opposite, runs bad cold, good warm. Did you ever find out anything ?
Jesse, What about P0153, I already changed 02 sensors on 2000 gran marquis. Thanks
Will this cause it too smell like gas ? And the car to shake
? I have a 2008 crown Vic and I'm smelling gas in the car
What are things that could cause that?

Did you figure it out?
What part is that and what does it do?

Bro I have a 04 Grand Marquis and the PCV valve hose is sucking air back into the motor Why is it

Did you check the chip on your key, I dropped my keys and the the chip cover fell off, therefore the chip fell out. Had to get a new key. $75.00
my 02 grand marquis keeps dying at the light when I hit the brakes or when I start it up it dies when I try to put it in drive
Alternator
You put new one in I take it cleaning the old didn't work and that new one didn't work either ? So u need to smoke test it ?
