I think it’s one of the new ones, the chunks missing in the middle makes it like 2 gears. Gives you more “gearage” 😬

Do you have to split the case to replace the main oil seal.

Hello mate are you asking about the 2x seals on the crank? If so then you can manage to get them out and back in without splitting the case

That my friend is a common problem to all IT490 YZ490 WR500 this happens when you have a wrong settings on the ignition and the engine starts backwards so the kickstarter mechanism destroys the case and the gears so the best solution is to change the kickstarter mechanism from a 2001 yz 250 there is a video from a guy that did it.

@@KeepitBigBore no problem i have IT engine and swapped on 2009 yzf 450 frame the best carb for this bikes is lectron 38HV with HPI ignition and there is no modern 450 to keep up with me they are brutal simplicity engines!!!nice job on the cluch arm!!!

That sounds like a nice bike!! What piston have you got in there, I've been trying to find an OEM 0.5mm over but cant get one anywhere. I sent it off for a rebore with a 0.25mm over but unfortunately there was just a little too much wear to clean up at 0.25mm. I'm kinda forced to go with a forged wiseco which I don't normally do on Air cooled bikes! Thank you!!

@@KeepitBigBore i also have a forged wiseco at 88.00mm the secret is to follow the instruction that comes with the piston that has the exact (Piston-to-wall clearance) wiseco gives you that according the type of your engine for me until now 1.5 years i dont have any problem also verry important the mixing ratio and also to warm the bike first because the piston when is cold is smaller and damages the cylinder!!if you follow this rules you want have any problem!!!

Thats good to hear, I was a little reserved about that but like you, I always warm a bike up properly, Especially Air cooled. I'll be ordering a Wiseco so 😂 Thanks for your help!!!

I have indeed mate, been so busy this year I didn’t get even a free weekend to take it out though. Mine is a 490 though. Have you got one also?

@@KeepitBigBorecool, was hoping you would post a video of it running! Mines on the bench in a thousand bits. Going to take a lot of cups of tea to put it back together!

I know, I wanted to, problem is it didn’t seem to attract that much attention. At the time I was more concerned with building the channel so I focused more on the m57 videos. She runs beautifully though. Only issue I have is a small leak somewhere between the 2 cases allowing transmission oil into the crankcase. I have to split the case to sort that out and she should be spot on!!
I know the feeling, good luck with it. Let me know if you need anything 👍🏽(machining, welding etc)
