    That's the old "spur to nowhere", before the industrial building and yard was built. And, it looks like the tracks leading to it are still the "spur to nowhere". Wow, great catch!

    Well that was nice. Love seeing that SP unit that use to run the commutes here in San Francisco. Thanks for the video.

    I wonder if they could save 4451 (which is sitting in the Schellville deadline) and run it with their commute coaches

    • @SPNGMalibu18

      I wish 4451 can be saved, but it’s owned by BUGX (which I think you know) and I think it’s going to cost a lot to restore it. Good news is that the commute coaches are owned by GGRM, and may run with an engine in the future

    yes but y on that engine I love the m5 it's probably my favorite or close to my 1 favorite but its looks and sounds silly on a new Genset with UPRR design on an ex southern pacific line

    Where is 2472 going

    Is 2611's M5 temporary?

    • @jasonpeachrick2037
      @jasonpeachrick2037 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Doubt it’s permanent. Far too valuable to keep on the locomotive long term.

      @@Amtrakfan90278 Didn’t know the FRA deemed it improper!

      @@jasonpeachrick2037 M5's are not illegal to use in regular service. To quote 49 CFR 229: § 229.129 Locomotive horn.
      (a) Each lead locomotive shall be equipped with a locomotive horn that produces a minimum sound level of 96 dB(A) and a maximum sound level of 110 dB(A) at 100 feet forward of the locomotive in its direction of travel. The locomotive horn shall be arranged so that it can be conveniently operated from the engineer's usual position during operation of the locomotive.
      The M5 passed this test with flying colors. Also the K5LA is just getting some work done at the moment so the M5 is indeed temporary. Get it while you can.

      @@Caltrain927 Ah, thank you for this! I know it differs week to week but what are the best days and times to catch NWP running during the day?

    • @Caltrain927
      @Caltrain927 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Only day would be Wednesday normally. Monday's on occasion on duty at 9AM, Wednesday's at 2 PM.

    What happen to the SP 2472?

    • @blackbirdgaming8147
      @blackbirdgaming8147 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It went down for its federally mandated rebuild and then was moved to a new location. I don’t think much has been done to it since.
