Yes it's a beautiful mall but so far off completion, i wish they would have waited before opening such a beautiful building.
young locals look with envy, longing and dreaming to have what tourists have, knowing they cannot and live in poverty being paid $1-2 per day. This is not Bali, this is commercialism aimed at tourists using locals to make profits. Its sad really sad to see.
and its not architecture, its a big cold concrete box building with shiny tiles, built with slave labour, nothing to be proud of.
I'll pass. I don't go to Bali to shop I Western style shopping centres.

Indonesia punya kebijakan melindungi pengusaha kecil menengah dan tidak terlalu kapitalis seperti Amerika. Dan Mall2 di Indonesia mungkin 40% wajib mengisi Mall2nya dengan barang2 lokal.

Furthermore, baca juga how Wallmart destroyed local economy.

Oh no you should of seen the traffic later on it was terrible I was also later on eating at one of the restaurants on the other side of the road all you could hear was whistling and cars honking.

There are many modern malls in Bali, most have a wider choice than Icon Bali and at least three are bigger with Living World Mall for example, which only opened a few months ago, being more than double the floor size despite Icon Bali's nonsensical claim to be the biggest mall in South East Asia.

Im visiting Bali for the first time in November. This is what we intend on escaping, not going too. So different to how I picture Bali to be.

Icon is a different kind of shopping experience to the art markets it's full of shops many people will be familiar with in their own countries🙂.
Mall ini sebenarnya diperuntukkan untuk orang lokal. Karena orang lokal suka berbelanja sambil jalan2 didalam mall yang adem karena dipenuhi AC. Dimanapun tempatnya di Indonesia mall akan selalu ramai karena orang Indonesia suka berbelanja.

Once you are inside that could be a shopping mall anywhere in the world plus the only people that will be able to afford to shop there are tourists and Expats
I think you are wrong on this, i see many indonesian at all the malls (many more than tourists), they love to shop and also have the money to do so.

Setiap kota besar di Indonesia mempunyai Mall yang sangat besar dan setiap hari selalu penuh dan itu tidak hanya satu mall bahkan Jakarta sendiri memiliki 200 mall. Ntah apa yang ada didalam otakmu sehingga berpikiran Mall di Bali itu bakal sepi dan hanya dipenuhi turis mancanegara dan ekspatriat. Lihat video itu baik2..!! Around 12-16km depending on which area of seminyak you are staying

like many Malls in Bali, they are for tourists (why i dont know) the staff are paid about $1-2 per day, slaves and live in poverty. I certainly dont go anywhere near these places as bali has much more to offer.

@@balibygary9718 as a financial supporter of a few balinese families, I am in touch with their earnings and lifestyle since 1993. wages are extremely poor and what we pay for a cup of coffee is more than many of the earnings of these youngsters and older local people
