I'd never do business with that woman again. You go out of your way to be honest and reasonable with all these vendors and she plain just tried taking advantage of you. Kuddos josh for not losing it there
Probably best not to accept anything for "free" from the vendors. I would not feel comfortable. She made the situation very awkward by not remembering or just plain scamming. Lesson learned.
It's good with most vendors to build rapport and a positive connection. I'd just keep the dollar amount low the first time you do it, to make sure the person is trustworthy.
When my husband and I saw what the lady did, we said out loud,"she just made a big mistake for a few dollars" we instantly knew she lost you as a faithful customer. And I don't think anyone blames you one bit.
Josh proved he's a stand up guy by even giving her money at all, watching the original video I thought she was giving them to him free, he didn't owe anything he offered and I think a lot of people would hope she forgot and carried on their day, tho YT famous face makes that hard to do for him. But this interaction to me increases my love of the channel. Merry Christmas (even tho it was yesterday).
I also love going to the flea market, my dad is actually a vendor of liquidation goods from Bj's and Costco, anyways I can tell you they are a LOT of miserable vendors just like customers. There's a handful of vendors I absolutely avoid like the plague at all cost. My worst experience happened with a vendor who I'd purchased something bulky and I'd kindly asked if I can leave it with him while I continue browsing the flea market. Long story short I came back to pick up item, he sold item again to someone else, I said ok that's fine just give me my money back, he refused, accused me of lying and trying to scam him. He sold the same item twice and deep down I know he knows that. We still see each other til this day and I can pick up on his vibe he feels guilty because he can never look at me in my eyes. I can tell he gets uncomfortable around me His pride has blinded him.
Funny that most people would never had paid her anything after she said "Just take them". She made it clear she wanted to get rid of them. Some people make it hard to do the right thing, even if it is the right thing. In the end it still doesn't change the fact that you did what was right. So there is that, but like others are saying, I wouldn't buy from her again.
I would've told that lady, 'Let me bring you back your golf clubs'.. Not was not cool of her. You handled it good. I recognized your frustration in your tone, don't blame you. Also that doll, I would've just left it. Stories change. Thanks.
Lesson learned. Never take anything that's for "free" and say you'll come back and give some money later. That lady totally swindled you lol. And I'm sure she knew what she did.
And especially if they know you are a regular buyer. Get you low this one time, get you high the next time. My friend had the opposite as a seller and would sell on credit, buyers weren't returning to pay back either. And if they did what was $85 ends up being $55. And the, "But you said..." lie.
I really don't understand why everyone keeps saying "lesson learned". I'm sorry, but you all must be blind because Josh didn't learn a darn thing! He did the exact same dang thing at the end of the video with the care bear, telling the other lady he'd pay her a $1 the next time he saw her!! Lesson learned my butt!!! The only lesson he learned is not to do business with that particular woman. SMH
Definitely did not misunderstand! Totally with you on not buying from her again. Also love how you turn down persistent sellers..."we'll think about it"! I love your relationship with Zo! He gives you great prices and you always give him more!
That interaction with the "golf club" lady was hilariously awesome! You guys went from being gracious/benevolent to getting ripped off. Some people are ridiculous.
But that’s why you pay when you buy it. People have short memories. It’s nice people let them take stuff without paying for it (until later) but like… come on man.
The lady you ran into tried to squeeze every last dollar from your prior golf club purchase. When you said you would at least give her 20 the next time you ran into her, she had no compunction in asking for 45. If the clubs were worth about 50, like you mentioned to her, then with Ebay fees etc., you are losing money. Even at 35 you will be lucky to break even.
I had a buy like that early on. They just kept trying to squeeze more money out of me when I told them there really wasn’t any room for me to make money at the prices they were asking. I was in a hurry and agreed to more than I wanted to pay just to end the conversation, and I ended up losing money. It was a good lesson on walking away when people start acting like that.
I'm like y'all and always try to believe people have good intentions. I've found out the hard way that not everyone is like us. I've watched enough of you and Haley's videos now and know what good people y'all are and it kinda makes me feel protective of your good heart! Sending much love and hopes for reaching and exceeding your goals for the new year! Keep the great videos coming!
Definitely an important tip to check before buying. Most resellers (especially those getting started) can't afford to make too many mistakes like the one you avoided there.
I knew for a fact that lady was going to do that, typical scammers move, of course she was never gonna give them to you for free lol, she turned down 20 but then said just take them, like you said that made no sense
Josh you are so much more than fair to everyone you are so kind-hearted. I don't know that I would have paid that lady anything she just out-and-out gave you those clubs and made it a big deal that you go ahead and take them for nothing and you come back and try and give her money to and be really fair with her and then she takes advantage of you act like you owed her..you didn't owe her a nickel. ...love your videos!!!!

Long time watcher....just subscribed. Our number one rule, specifically in this industry, is never leave owing anyone anything. It rarely works out. Regarding sports memorabilia, if it seems too good to be true it usually is. Good eye.
I’m happy to see Hayley enjoying the business. What a wonderful asset she brings. I enjoy all your videos n information you offer all of us. Thanks for inspiring me at 70 to continue learning n selling , Josh. MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎁. HAPPY NEW YEAR COMING🎄🙏 . May the Lord keep blessing you and your family.
Even when you are "mad" you are nice. You could not have handled the problem with that woman any better. Thanks for being such a kind human. It's nice to be both human and kind. HUMANKIND.
When it got tricky getting that out of the frame I got very nervous. And when the lady wanted 45.00 I almost stood up to defend you. Because you have amazing recall. I love how you explained those situations at the end and great advise. You’re so helpful and I appreciate you!!!!!
Hahaha thank you for the unintentional shout out from my listing of the USA olympic hat. You were one of the main reasons I got into thrifting and I have learned so much from you and Hailey. I Was very shocked when I saw the sold comp was my listing. Hope you have more and more success in the up coming year. Thank you.
Anytime aa vendor at the flea market who won't shut up, I walk away. If you are that desperate about how a great deal it is, I find it's either crap or stolen. That lady made me mad too. She was ok with the 20 until she saw your cash. Maybe keep money in separate pockets or only a handful of bills unless needed. We only carry 100, we can hit the ATM if needed. Anyways....Keep being you!!
I know some of those Olympic pins are freebie pins that the US olympic Committee sent out to supporters when they asked for donations by mail. I had kept a bunch of them over a few years when they were doing it and ended up selling the pins as a lot on eBay for about $10 a few years back. So, hopefully, you can get the same.
I agree with you not wanting to buy from her in the future! You were very clear you couldn't pay $45 in the last video! Great video. Have a Happy New Year!
In the situation with the lady always remember you have the power to not give your money out. should have said "I'm returning it" and block her from future transactions. But yes I somtimes get flustered or feel bad for the vendors and its easier to just pay them off. Ive run into her type before always hustling I stay clear. They usually pretend to give you a good deal by saying "I'll take $45 I was asking $70". After I hear that i walk away fast.
The lady who you gave money to for the clubs sounded older, plus the inflection in her voice and the words she used pointed to her being totally confused, and not malicious. I don't think never buying from is a necessary step, I would just pay her upfront next time. A helpful tip people may not know, is that most glues are water soluble, and steaming can some times be used for seperation, but that gentleman should have had a C.O.A. or other provenance to show they were real, and not reprints, which is common in sports memorabilia. Another tip for people you touched on was the autograph with tickets being fake. Unless you know what to look for (which is a lot), don't buy any autographs without a C.O.A. from a reputable company. There have been some huge scandals of forgeries in the past that almost ruined the industry. Other than being forged, autographs can be stamped, auto penned, and signed by secretaries or personal assistants, so unless you have years of experience and training only buy autographs with reputable provenance.
That lady was a complete scammer & she should realize that she was on video giving u the clubs for free !! Not charging u $35 for them. She should not be allowed to sell to anybody
Great video guys. Hope you all had a great Christmas. That one lady gave you the clubs then she wanted 45. Be hard for me to buy any more from her. Very generous
You guys are awesome for going back to give her money for the clubs she tried to just give you for free. You didn't even give her a hard time about charging you more. Way to set the example for the reselling community!
That lady scammed you knowing you would willing come back and pay her she stuck to the amount she wanted thanking you would forget the exact amount good shopping brother and you helped her out more than anything your a good man
Dude I just found your channel and I love it. My buddy I grew up with was just like you but with antiques. We would flea market and yard sale, and I loved walking and watching him wheel and deal. Love that we are with you as you find these little treasures. Thanks for filming what you do. I have subscribed and hit the like button as much as I can.
For the Cal Ripken items, even if all were undamaged and legit (the signature from what i can see does look to match several of authenticated ones i have of him), I don’t see anywhere near the value he was asking. A cut signature from a prolific signer and pair of 1993 all star game tickets from arguably some of the very worse seats in the stadium. Cost to grade and slab may cost more than they would sell for. Good walk away and double good to check. Guessing maybe he saw a “similar “ highest asking price and came up with his value giving him every benefit of doubt. I would be skeptical of any of his prices
You are honestly ( being very genuine ) the type of person who makes me wanna go to flea markets and thrift stores. I’ve found amazing finds at thrifts. I noticed you have a pika pika in the back. I have a char char lol u have dope content brother! Much love
People saying at garage sales "these are worth alot of money" i dont ever in the slightest take the word for that. Anytime anyone has ever said that its never true. It almoust makes me want to not look at the item any further at all just beacuse its like why are you going out of your way to convince me it has value.
Always love your videos!!! You were generous, you were absolutely right, she said take them, she did not want to take them home!! Hope you had a great christmas!!! support your friends!!!
Hi Josh and Haley, thanks for another great video. Josh, your channel was the first I watched about reselling, and I subscribed while watching the first video I viewed (subscribe people, what are you waiting for?). I have never seen you treat anyone badly and always try to find the good in others. This video was a good example.
2:35 She thinks she’s being smart by seeing your wad of cash and trying to scam you by saying you owed her more. People see that cash and think that’s play money for you guys they can take advantage of. Ugh! She really got me riled there.
I was thinking that the golf club lady needs to watch your video on the conversation she had with you. To give her the benefit of the doubt, perhaps she just forgot what she said (although I don't really think so). But you were the bigger person to give her the extra money. I would not buy from her again either. I did feel a bit sorry for the man with the tickets. He was so excited about what he thought he had, but I am surprised he never looked at the back before that. Rookie mistake on his part. It seemed like some of the venders were a bit cranky this trip, but maybe just my imagination.
If I run out of money, that is where my day ends. That way there is no misunderstanding of who owes what. Sorry to you guys that was a sucky situation and you can hear it in your voice
Aww man the game wave... I had one of those when I was younger. It's like a combo DVD game player. Neat little buy, they go for like 100 bucks online. But the nostalgia that hit when you walked by the one. Immeasurable.
Also on the tickets. They certainly were not "box seats". Upper Box just means upper deck. They had regular row and seat numbers on them. Private boxes would not.
Condition is so important and people don't understand glue can remove 90% of value easily. Seen it. A gem mint baseball card can fetch 1,000s and an 8 or 9 could be only 10% that.
I had a colleague at work a number of years ago who was a funny old stick, ask me my shoe size as she said she had some expensive shoes that didn’t fit her that she had worn a couple of times that would bring in for me. She duly brought them in with a bit of ceremony - box tissue paper and was watching me carefully as I tried them on They didn’t really fit but as I thought she was giving them to me I didn’t want to hurt her feelings so I said they were fine .....then she said great - I’ll only charge you £45 - wowee - I had no idea she wanted money for them I genuinely believe she wasn’t trying to scam me - in fact I think she thought we had a win win situation This was 20 years ago and £45 was a lot of money and over twice what I would usually pay for shoes then But I’d painted myself into a corner She was someone I worked with everyday and I didn’t want to offend her by seriously back tracking all that I had said as I knew she wouldn’t take it well - so I paid a lot of money for shoes I couldn’t wear So the lesson is you have to know the deal you are making or indeed understand both parties intentions!
Hope you guys had a fantastic Christmas. Love watching you but having Haley (sorry if spelling is incorrect) with you now makes it even better. Happy New Year to you both. Keep making the awesome videos.
If you guys every come across funky patterned nikes (LeBrons, Kobes, Kyries, etc.) They generally go for good money. Those Kyries are part of the "what the" editions and combine a majority of the special individual releases on one pair of shoes. More you know!
hey brother I know the struggle of wanting to sell stuff that comes from something corrupt.I love your channel so Im not trying to come against you just trying to love a brother in the Lord Hebrews 10:24. Stay firm on what you sell brother. Don't compromise and the Lord will bless you! God bless you and I pray the Lord prospers you!

Flea market tip: Never show more money then what your paying. Leads them to believe your willing to pay more.
Been buying from flea markets in Mexico (how I did my job back then) and I know this as a must and reflex. Never show what you actually have.
IOU in writing would have kept that from happening. It's always best practice to get agreements in writing, even if it's just a text sometimes.
Thank you for adding comps or what they sold for. It is very helpful.

I don't know how i missed this video but glad I got to watch it love you guys stay safe
I would of drove home got the clubs and gave her them back.
Aww man the game wave... I had one of those when I was younger. It's like a combo DVD game player. Neat little buy, they go for like 100 bucks online. But the nostalgia that hit when you walked by the one. Immeasurable.
That old lady is a hustler lol... She told you take it for free... Then charges you haha
One of my Bolos is Mack Trucks items. I sell a lot of it and I keep seeing y’all passing those hats and other things up!
I thought your Go Pro Straps were '5 Point Seatbelts' ... and I was like: "What the heck kind of car is he driving, and how fast does he drive?
Lol
The one where Hairy got hustled!!
Another great video!
Happy New Year! Husband loved the Lou Gehrig & Babe Ruth poster! Made a fun stocking stuffer! Thank you!
Thanks for the support!
I got the same poster from HT. I bought it to support Josh and Hayley
@@mrflyingdog4357 thanks Barry!
Love ur channel for the reason of you being so generous while dealings. You have fan from half the world across :)
Hahahaha you got totally bamboozled by that golf club lady 🤣 😂 that was so awkward and funny.
Don’t forget you owe me $10 Hairy 😂 love your interaction in Spanish makes me Smile! Buyer beware! Love you so much! Be Well Be Safe & Stay Blessed.
I would never had thought to open that frame up. But it saved you some grief.
Cal Ripken Jr. Is a member at car wash i used to manage. I would talk to him every week when he came in. Very nice guy.
Yes I definitely watched your last video, when the lady gave you those clubs and told you to pay her later. I would not buy from her anymore
Omg, "before I start speaking in tongues" I literally laughed out loud. Let the Lord use you. Blessings Shirlene 💜✝️
😂😂 That made me chuckle as well! Blessings!
Me too!!
No!! She was trying to SCAM you!!
Happy New Year Josh, Hayley and Mose!!
I love the comment about 34x29... I'm the same size.. 34 x 28... I've never tried on a pair of jeans that fit without hemming lol
You mentioned google lens in video. Just tried it and OMG. THANK YOU! This is so amazing!!!!!!
I had a colleague at work a number of years ago who was a funny old stick, ask me my shoe size as she said she had some expensive shoes that didn’t fit her that she had worn a couple of times that would bring in for me.
She duly brought them in with a bit of ceremony - box tissue paper and was watching me carefully as I tried them on
They didn’t really fit but as I thought she was giving them to me I didn’t want to hurt her feelings so I said they were fine .....then she said great - I’ll only charge you £45 - wowee - I had no idea she wanted money for them
I genuinely believe she wasn’t trying to scam me - in fact I think she thought we had a win win situation
This was 20 years ago and £45 was a lot of money and over twice what I would usually pay for shoes then
But I’d painted myself into a corner She was someone I worked with everyday and I didn’t want to offend her by seriously back tracking all that I had said as I knew she wouldn’t take it well - so I paid a lot of money for shoes I couldn’t wear
So the lesson is you have to know the deal you are making or indeed understand both parties intentions!
I absolutely died laughing at the “Pentecostal” reference!!!!😂
Hope you guys had a fantastic Christmas. Love watching you but having Haley (sorry if spelling is incorrect) with you now makes it even better. Happy New Year to you both. Keep making the awesome videos.
If you guys every come across funky patterned nikes (LeBrons, Kobes, Kyries, etc.) They generally go for good money. Those Kyries are part of the "what the" editions and combine a majority of the special individual releases on one pair of shoes. More you know!
Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year to you both, Josh and Haley. Keep producing this great content.
hey brother I know the struggle of wanting to sell stuff that comes from something corrupt.I love your channel so Im not trying to come against you just trying to love a brother in the Lord Hebrews 10:24. Stay firm on what you sell brother. Don't compromise and the Lord will bless you! God bless you and I pray the Lord prospers you!
"better stop before I start speaking in tongues" bahaha!!!

The Bears shirt in the bottom of frame at 7:07 is exactly the same shirt you bought at another sale. I've been bingeing these videos, so I don't know if it was before or after this one though.
Don’t buy anything of her again ffs
Another great video. You blessed the lady with the golf club issue…. Only good will come to you 💜
