one correction and bonus point ahead! indra(diety of thunder) is the king of dieties (Devtas in Hindi) not god's. bonus When hanuman tried to eat the sun thinking it was a mango, Indra steps up to the task and hits Hanuman with a weapon called Vajrayudham. this weapon is actually the backbone of a diseaced sage who stored all his powers/kundalini in his spine. this heavily injures or kills hanuman(not sure). angered by his, Hanuman's father Pavan who is the diety of wind and air sucks out all the air from the world killing off all the creatures. to console him, all the dieties and gods go to Pavan to apologise, and as repentence they bestow Hanuman with lots of powers (primarily the ability to flight and to change his size to either a giant or a fly. but there is a condition. he won't know about his powers until he really needs them, destiny will remind him then. this was so because a child Hanuman was strong enough to swallow up the Sun, so with even more powers he would do more mischief. this is quite similar to luffy's fruit. he didn't know about his true powers (which includes gigantification) until he really needed them. also it's been speculated that dragon has wind based fruit. which could be a copy paste of Devta Pawan, Hanuman's father.

This (Lord Hanuman vs Giant serpent creature, dragon in some versions) parallels with Gear 5 Luffy vs Kaido ... Where Luffy is devoured by kaido and Luffy comes out of Kaido's body by making kaido rubber, putting his hands through the eyes of Kaido and coming out.
Another parallel of Luffy and Lord hanuman is that just like Lord Hanuman obliged a genuine mission of his foe and simultaneously defeated them, yet made them fulfil their mission, Luffy also compartmentalizes people based on their dreams andv respects them for it even though it is against him.... Eg: Bellamy in dressrosa, Coby, etc...
18. One of the foreshadowings of the Sun God Nika is given in Skypiea with the first mention of Sun God, and the Nika-pose of Luffy dancing around the bonfire... Foreshadowing the fruit awakening. Which resembles the large Golden Mace of Lord Hanuman.
Another parallel is that there is a story where Lord Hanuman Saved many monkeys trapped under a giant bell by lifting the bell with his tail.
And then Lord Hanuman a huge devotee of Lord Rama bowed down with humility and respect. Seeing this beautiful event, Lord Rama blessed Hanuman that Whomsoever worships the form of Lord Hanuman with a bell on his tail, will receive devotion, light of knowledge that destroys ignorance and bestows liberation.
It is said that Lord Hanuman then transferred his powers in the bell, and those who hear the the bell ring will get the protection of Lord Hanuman.
This beautiful story very nicely parallels the bell ringing significance and themes of liberation, knowledge of the one piece lore.

This pretty much describes Luffy as well who's main characteristics are immense loyalty, superstrength and perseverance (never giving up). Luffy also constantly inspires people to not lose hope snd gives then courage to pursue their dreams.

Anjana devi prays to Wind god, Pavan to give them an auspicious child, and Vayu/Pavan pleased by their worship gives them the child, Hanuman, by giving them a blessed sacred pudding.

Few years back, an animated movie about Hanuman was made, named the return of Hanuman, and it is one of my favourite movies from childhood, its song ASMAN KO CHUKAR DEKHA, is a song that every teenager and young adult has heard and loved since their childhood, that song explains various quirks of Hanuman and his mischievous nature. The lyrics of that song that are meant for Hanuman, completely aplly to luffy's personality and adventures too. So I found an English explanation for the lyrics that are originally in hindi and it fits on luffy perfectly, more than any other song ever made.

When hanuman tried to eat the sun thinking it was a mango, Indra steps up to the task and hits Hanuman with a weapon called Vajrayudham. this weapon is actually the backbone of a diseaced sage who stored all his powers/kundalini in his spine.
this heavily injures or kills hanuman(not sure). angered by his, Hanuman's father Pavan who is the diety of wind and air sucks out all the air from the world killing off all the creatures. to console him, all the dieties and gods go to Pavan to apologise, and as repentence they bestow Hanuman with lots of powers (primarily the ability to flight and to change his size to either a giant or a fly. but there is a condition. he won't know about his powers until he really needs them, destiny will remind him then. this was so because a child Hanuman was strong enough to swallow up the Sun, so with even more powers he would do more mischief.
