I am having this done tomorrow by my VW repair technician. I drive a 2004 Beetle. After viewing this video, I have concluded that must have a genius and mathematical mind to complete this task. Bravo to you!
Great video. Very clear, methodical and concise considering how complex the design is. I successfully replaced the regulator albeit with a lot of cursing and throwing of tools. Would highly recommend getting the replacement regulator complete with back panel. Thanks
So I just got an estimate of $850 to do mine on my 2007 bug. I thought I’d it really that hard?? I found the door panels with the regulators in place. You make this look easy but I’m thinking, can I do this on my own?? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
Any advice on how to tell whether it is the motor or the regulator before removing the inside panel? And 1A auto is out of stock on this item, Can I trust E-bay? for the same TRQ part #?
Don't use a impact driver or an electric screwdriver to do this job because it looks cool. Get a torque wrench/screwdriver so you don't strip out anything. If you don't have one than hand tools only. You don't want to go monkey on tightening things down, that's how things go south real fast, yes, I'm talking to you..
what’s the foam in the inside of the door for? mine came loose and the window wouldn’t go down all the way, so i took my door apart and i took the foam out and now it works, is the form necessary?
Hi, I suddenly had 3 elective peobpemas. 1, my odometer shows no speed, my outside temperature sensor stopped at 11 degrees, my fuel level, even though it goes up and down in turns, then drops to 0. These errors occurred simultaneously. what do you think it could be?
i have problem with my beetle window and am trying to get an idea of fix. it seems to me you missed out a big section where you connected wires from new regulator. shame

Worst door assembly design I've ever encountered.

But what about how to remove and install the actual regulator?! That's the premise of this video and it was barely touched on! 😢
do the rails on the back go in front of the window or behind (as in like more so towards the cabin)

What to do when cable broke and window is in down position?
Bit pointless if you cannot lower your window!!
