Μια αιωνιότητα και μια μέρα (Eternity and a Day), Theodoros "Theo" Angelopoulos (*27 April 1935 - †24 January 2012), 1998. Palme d'Or, 51st Cannes Film Festival. Music: Eleni Karaindrou.
That eight minutes of undivided and perfectly filmed long shot, undivided transition to past from present. Incredible music by Eleni Karaindrou, incredible Aegean view. Incredible imaginery and gone people with clear and fresh clothes, conveying good facial expressions, acting naturaly and gorgeously. What an emotional scene that emphisizing seizing the moment, good old memories and beautiful Aegean Sea. Beautiful scene from the heaven. Angelopoulos was utterly genius, just that scene is one of the proofs. One of the best endings in the world. Eternity and a day, what a title that might mean very things about life and time. Gorgeous movie
This send always makes me emotional for some reason. There's just something about it that I can't quite put my finger on. There's a feeling that rises up within me, like a child begging for their caregiver to assure them that everything is going to be okay...
The score is the same always in a Day and Eternity. Flash backs occur to humans because not all moments of life are equal. We are driven to listen to the different scores as the preciousness of each and every second lived by us. In the end....it is a lonely man walking by the sea with his dog. Brings us to reality....the beauty resides in the soul of a given lived moment.....to where only memory can sometimes return intact in its pureness
This movie was hitting too hard for some reason, watching near the end in heavy turbulence on a plane, thinking I was about to die with my family. lol had to shut it off asap. An absolute masterwork though.

Didn‘t know Bruno Ganz speaks greek too. A grand master indeed!
he doesn't it's a voice over
He spoke German, his voice was dubbed by the well-known Greek actor Petros Fyssoun.

You have Bruno Ganz directed by Theodoros Angelopoulos. Rest my case.
