Yarn, Yarn Weight & Related Needle / Hook

Yarn comes in all different thicknesses, or weights. The standard yarn weight system goes from a range of 0 to 7, with size 0 (or lace yarn) being the smallest weight (or thickness) and size 7 being the largest weight.
Check out our handy chart of yarn weight and recommended knitting needle and crochet hook sizes along with links to variety of yarn available in that weight.
Note: The suggested hook and needle sizes are just that - suggestions. To get the same gauge as the pattern designer, you may need to use a different size hook or needle depending on your knitting/crochet tension. Decide whether to size up or down after making a gauge swatch. Hope this helps!
