It's true. I feel sad that she was with that guy who didn't givehher the time of day. Such a beautiful voice, and such a loving woman. I hope she found happiness after the divorce.
This is a fine song I had time of not hearing it, but now I found it here in the menu, I decided to hear it again, and it is very good and really worth to hear, and remember so many things of days gone by.
Wonderful!!!! Thank you SO much for posting this, I loved it and they do look great, both of them. Ive been a fan since 75 and I still am today, the song is timeless. Long live C&T!!!
@MusicallyDetermined Actually they don't live in Palm Springs they just completed their new home is prescott, AZ 2 years ago and have been living there after selling their home on Lake Tahoe.
Another song that is just stuck in my head from hearing it again and again when I was in elementary school in the 70s. I enjoy, still, her voice and when I was in HS she came out with a album of standards which turned me on to Gershwyn and Porter and Berlin, etc. She sings beautifully, when singing standards. These types of songs, she sounds like so mamy others. Hate 'Muskrat Love", though. So odd a song. Nothing to say about him, as he said nothing, ever. Nice complement to Neil Sedaka at end,
Not in a legal sense but in the sense that matters, in the heart, they remained in constant contact and even more so as Daryl's health declined. Toni was with him right to his final moments with love and care.
1970's classic the duo of former beach boy Daryl Dragon captain and Tenille sweethearts of yv show 1977-1981stayed married and death do us part proverbs 18:22 God said it's great that men should be married 🙏 and he passed rip thanks
@MusicallyDetermined Great comment, stuff most of us don't know and said in a clear and concise way everyone will understand...thanks for the great info... my crush on Toni Tennille came during the time they had a variety show (remember it?)... so many comments on TH-cam are foul and accusatory and serve no constructive purpose!
@sarmadasco Well I agree with your assessment of her singing. She does sound like others from that period but she is great none the less. They were a very classy duo. I will have to agree with you on Muskrat Love WTF was that all about? Muskrats are large rodents that always live near water. They have thick brown fur and a long, furless, scaly tail. They can grow up to two feet long. I mean Michael Jackson got away with singing to a rat but I draw the line with Muskrat love. LOL ;)
Wow, too sad, now after her memoirs and their divorce it becomes clear that the theme of this song was largely based on wishful thinking: With a husband who never could bring himself to say "I love you", it would have been nice if he could have listened to the song's lyrics and get out of his shell and SAY I LOVE YOU! Same with "Do that to me one more time", based on wishful thinking, sadly.
Ok, you'd think if they were going to do this in 1987 they'd at least perform it live. I'm fairly certain any intelligent person would know they aren't going to sound exactly like the record 12 years later. Or use a backing track and at least let her sing it live. This is embarrassing for them. She had a great voice, hated it for them that they faded away almost over night.
Solid Gold was a low budget 30 min weekly showcase that never had live guest acts, with the occasional exception of duets with the regular host. C&T had 6 gold and platinum years on the charts with two #1s, not exactly an overnight fade-out but they absolutely had the talent to run longer if they'd capitalized on their 1980 #1 with more current follow up material. IMO, there was too much emphasis on material that would tend to reflect a high school sweetheart type image. By the 80s most of their record buyers were past that. I'd have given anything to be able to pick some hits and avoid some unfortunate choices for their 1980 followup album.
Probably more accurate to say he couldn’t love. Plenty of older people put up with each other for 30 years, one says enough of this coldness, I’m out, and the other is shocked because their own self absorption was completely normal to them. I don’t think he had the positivity or the skills to look outside himself and appreciate the gift that she was. She was God’s gift to him on a silver platter, no question.
She looks so gorgeous in this video. Such a classy lady
I truly believe that Toni Tennille has one of the greatest voices in the history of recorded music! A great talent and a great lady.
Karen Carpenter.

@MusicallyDetermined Actually they don't live in Palm Springs they just completed their new home is prescott, AZ 2 years ago and have been living there after selling their home on Lake Tahoe.
Sehr attraktive Frau mit einer sehr schönen Stimme
A+
Siempre creí que esa cancion era más actual
That 70's show pilot. (from 1:16 to 1:35) !
Yep I always think of Kitty carrying a tray of appetizers singing this song lol
Remember when Toni Tenelle had a talk show on tv for a while?
gran canción de Neil Sedaka,
That’s more like it
essa tocava na Excelsior a " maquina do som"

Very close about the Captain getting his name , but it was in fact Mike Love of The Beach Boys who gave him that name
Too bad love didn't keep them together 😳......
Top
The sad part it didn't keep them together
Not in a legal sense but in the sense that matters, in the heart, they remained in constant contact and even more so as Daryl's health declined. Toni was with him right to his final moments with love and care.
Is she saying stop or Scott????

Beginning of this tune, chord progress is highly unique .
Regarding originality,
I suppose this tune is over Sedaka's version.
Is that Jaque' as host before 227?
+Andrew Esposito Marilyn McCoo
The show 10 years before this. The girls back up . Was having fun . As you well see.. this guy has three women.
@MusicallyDetermined Great comment, stuff most of us don't know and said in a clear and concise way everyone will understand...thanks for the great info... my crush on Toni Tennille came during the time they had a variety show (remember it?)... so many comments on TH-cam are foul and accusatory and serve no constructive purpose!
joseph60us--I agree. I wish only positive comments were allowed!
Toni Is an awesome BABE !!!
Vine por CHP
Are you kidding me... Marilyn McCoo AND Toni Tennille on the same stage?!!
Woo.
I had a crush on both
Someone knows captain and tennille are kipping together yet?
Who's that hostess??
A gorgeous lady. Too bad she had to lip this one.

They didn’t write this song…but I think there was love there, just not the romantic ‘in love’.
I have found NO real live performances.
There's a couple from the seventies of her live but there's some footage of her singing this with Neil Sedaka live, no lip synching
+laportama The Midnight Special 1975
Very talented lip syncer as well

Maybe he loved her a little?
Vice versa?
Gosh, she resembles Pat Benatar a bit here.
And to think the captain never really loved her.

Always loved them. All my comments are registering as replies. Thought I wouldn't notice...think again!!!! Just another faked phone setup.
Toni is my choice. With Karen you get mom and bother. Yuch!😮
Wow i thought that was a black woman's voice but im so dumb
Wish she hadn’t lip synced!
Click if you came here for Zenophon and girlfriend...
Moana
I wonder why she is lypsynching to the record?! Maybe she had a cold
And what a lady
