Do you really believe the warfare in ancient Japan every arrow is produced this way? *JKJK* This is modern craft for luxury practices. They have massive workshops with hundreds of serves feed with potatoes to produce thousands of arrows in a day with tolerable quality for war. There is a trend and practice in everywhere where producing smaller amount of goods with only manpower and master apprentice style trainings can ramp up price sky-high for virtually everything. These are artworks and I love them a lot, if I am a Japanese high school girl who practice traditional archery I'll be so excited to own dozen of these for 40000 yen, because my teammates will not look down at me, and arrows can be reused so it's not horrible at long-term. However I'd say performances wise these will never beat modern industrialized soulless versions otherwise you will see handmade ones in Olympics and even competitor from poorest nations will be forced to use them.

I am a Kyudo(Japanese archery) player and I have some arrows like this. They are usually sold in sets of six. The cheapest arrows are aluminum shafts with turkey feathers for about 3,000 yen (about $20) per arrow. The most expensive are bamboo shafts with eagle feathers, costing 30,000 yen (about $200) or more per arrow. It costs even more depending on the craftsmanship and quality of materials.
Japanese turn everything into slow motion art. Even mopping a floor turns into artwork when they very slowly lift the mop out of the water so that the drips are in a pleasant pace then they slowly squinch the mop on the floor pushing the excess water out, then they swish the mop in figure eights very slowly and gracefully. After twenty seven hours they have masterfully and beautifully mopped the foyer

I always used a recurve when I was bow hunting I would like to invest in a nice long bow I started hunting about 10 years of age and I’ve been doing it ever since 42 years old now and now I take my son and my dad comes along with us just like I did with my dad as a child it is a family tradition. I’m about to marinate some deer meat right now but I’ve been falling out so will have some to take this weekend dear hunting
In case of arrows it is in fact hard to get good at it. But that's a rabbit hole i don't feel like going into if you care you will easily learn what the difficulty is with arrows made out of narural materials
This has inspired me to seek out where I can learn Japanese archery! The precision and detail of this art form are truly awe-inspiring. I have great respect for the masters who have preserved and passed down this ancient skill through the generations. It’s a beautiful blend of discipline and grace! ❤
I've made my own arrows when I was in competition archery in my youth. I learned from a shop owner, and find this to be incredible! I love these arrows, and such amazing skill!!
Gorgeous craftsmanship. I'm a practitioner of the Old Norse ways and Viking Age enthusiast but even I can appreciate the time, patience, and skill this craft takes and the beauty of the end product.
If you want to be able to do it then do it. Sure , it will not be as good as his but in time, if you keep at it, you will do good work. I had thought the same as you but with arrow heads. First one were horrible. After a year of doing it most days they got to looking good. After 2 years they were as good as any that people find. By then noone could tell if i found them or made them. Do it and keep at it. You will do good. How long do you think this man has been doing it? I bet it was longer than a few days.😂
. He is probably selling them. And i bet he gets a good price for them. Some hunters want hand made arrows with hand made arrow heads on them Do you want to buy some arrow heads?

In every Japanese documentary about craftsmanship it took the craftsman 30 years of experience to master the art😂😂😂

And took 10-30 second to destroy it, lol
