Papo easily wins this for me! While the pnso looks gorgeous too and I think that the detail looks better in terms of standing out more. But the papo one is amazing: Better colorscheme Great attention to detail No weird opposable thumbs Striking pose And a better price The only thing that I don’t really like about the papo is how the front limbs are spread out so far! Awesome video!
@@Trike71171 Yes, keyword Quadruped FIGURE, this stands as a quadruped, but it is clearly supposed to be a bipedal animal. Its no different from their acro which leans on its hands, or any old carnegie figure that is a tripod. it uses its hands for the figures support while leaning forward, but it is not using its arms as a means of walking. This is 100% not a quadropedal reconstruction of spinosaurus. So there is no need for concern there.
Me personally, I did prefer Essien prior to the 2020 study, but hearing your points certainly makes me reconsider the Papo one more. It does actually make sense since the Papo one stands out better. It's more imposing with a better color scheme and has a more active pose. Essien maybe in a more neutral pose(which I do prefer over an extreme pose), but the severe shrink-wrapping and weird thumb claw still bugs the heck out of me. I seriously do need to pick up the Papo Spinosaurus sooner rather than later, it's just unfortunate quarantine is still a thing around here. Now one thing I have noticed about the Papo Spinosaurus is that its head seems to be a bit enlarged. Is it just me?
The head enlargement is 100% a faulty observation, however your not alone. A lot of people think its head is oversized. However, as you can see in the thumbnail, and i can reassure you, both PNSO and Papo have nearly the EXACT same sized head. The papo one has just a slightly shorter neck. So if your ok with the PNSO spino's head size, you'll be perfectly fine with the papo!
Finally getting around to watching this. I personally prefer the Papo Spino, just because the paint job looks better. I have the unusual opinion of thinking the wash and dry brushing on the PNSO's looks very odd. Also, I heard a while back that the box says the Spinosaurus is "running through shallow water". Does yours say that?
Dinoxels i think thats just a rumor, cuz all the box says is “aquatic hunting position” above its hips. There really isnt much information on the box Also i kinda agree about Essien’s paint
the difference between Papo and PNSO here is their goal with these Spinos. PNSO strived for accuracy in its core. Even still, they missed a mark by a bit, so that would make it inherently in the negative. Papo cared more for general quality like paint application and popular appeal and they hit the nail on the head for it. Not only that, but they still kept arguably as much accuracy as the PNSO. Personal preferences: • PNSO's drybrushing makes Essien look, well, dry. That makes the finish on Papo's look much more alive. • I don't see where anyone would think Papo's skull is the more accurate one lmaoo, it's kind of rounded out and the shrinkwrapping on that tells you its further off. The speculative crests throw it off even more for me. • PNSO's teeth are much more believable to me, they would have to be sticking out of their roots to be the same size as Papo's so going by skulls without taking into account how teeth *work* to justify size is iffy. • Papo has a much more shrinkwrapped sail. It looks better on PNSO's in spite of the vertebra count. tldr; Papo wins as a figure bc they focused on quality control while still staying close enough to accuracy to be better here.
Great video, Kiki. While I do agree with you on the Papo one being the slightly better of the two, I still feel like the coloration could be a bit exciting, and I would also prefer it if it weren’t a tripod (in the sense of it having to rest on its’ knuckles in order to hold itself up). As for the PNSO one (Essien), while I do really like it as well and think it trails pretty close behind in terms of how much I like it and stuff, too, that does not change the fact that the thumbs on it’s hands that make it look like it’s playing Virtual Reality/VR are horrible, goofy, and inaccurate as hell, and I also feel that the coloration is a bit one-dimensional/drab, and isn’t as vibrant as it could be/as the box and promo image(s) depicted it to be.
Nicely thorough! I don't have the PNSO but they're both great figures. PNSO is more accurate (in relation to Ibrahim reconstruction's) in terms of proportion of the head to the body and the length of the tail. However I give the edge to Papo because it depicts a more plausible-seeming robust predator. PNSO's reminds me of the '13 and '20 Favorite Ltd figures in terms of shrink-wrapping, maybe even more extreme. As for the tail, I totally get what you're saying about the anatomy. Papo's paddle is dermal, not skeletal like Ibrahim's latest, nor is it as wide. Nevertheless, I give Papo credit because it is still a functional paddle designed when that was an uncommon speculation. For some reason Papo can't get proportions right (those short Therizinosaurus claws on long fingers) but the freewheeling imagination is welcome. Who knows, maybe Giganotosaurus really did teeter around like Godzilla! (Just kidding.)
Tuefer Benz Lol, yeah, I sized up the 2020 skeletals to the same scale as both figures and found that not only was essien’s tail a bit too long, but so was his neck, while papo is slightly too short in both departments. So neither nail it there. Thank you for the compliments, I am really happy you enjoyed the video! It was a pain in the butt to pull off in time!
Essien the spinosaurus is accurate but the papo spinosaurus is more accurate so , they are of course awesome👍 and i think they should be best friends ❤❤
I don‘t prefer any of them. I think, both representations have their ups and down. The posable thumb from Essien is a downer, no doubt, but the fishtail of the Papo-figurine is a „no go“. And the PSNO-packaging is miles better than the Papo flimsy cardboard. Greetings from Germany
Papo: Advantages Cheaper More robust Better scaling Better Head/jaws More accurate Better paint scheme PNSO:Advantages Longer Not limted edition Winner is Papo
Man, you could just do a battle royal with Every Spinosaurus Figure from 2019. But I'd have to say I prefer the Papo Spinosaurus in this video. Essien is a little too shrinkwrapped for my taste.
Omg all youtube comparisons are so bad... All is sponsored...everyone frears criticism...so everything ends in a boring draw. The papo spino costs 34€...(europe) The pnso costs 70$ plus tax plus shipping... ...nuff said
Die_Maulquappe I actually take great offense to that statement, and clearly you are new to my channel, because I am a very open and honest person that has zero sponsorships with either of these figure companies. And I even say in this video which one i prefer, but I do genuinely think its a toss-up as to which one is objectively (not subjectively) a better buy

I understand that criticism, but honestly its one of those things, that REALLY is not as bad as you think it is when you get it in person!
Kikizilla101 I’m very lucky to own the papo spino! I got it for just 35 bucks which is just amazing! Pnso one is just way to expensive for me!
This intro makes me crack every time
I think they both look good.
Dylan Geltzeiler Same.
Same
It's hilarious that the tail on the Papo figure is surprisingly accurate as it's depicted with the paddle tail.
Well not entirely. The Papo's tail is far to short and fish like to be accurate.
It gets the base of the tail right, but the end is wrong. The overall visual style though, is shockingly similar!
Plus it’s also appears to be a quadraped figure which I’m pretty sure has been disproved since 2014
I agree with you

Hail Kikizilla
PNSO is soo amazing because it looks like a real animal that u would see at the zoo and I have my other reasons
Wow, good thing I have both. And the new Essien. I have zero self-control around dinosaurs.
Yasssssssssss
Hello, I have both and to my surprise, the Papo looks amazing on the PSNO base.
Find something else to put Essien on.
When is the 3rd episode of mesozoic Isle
When its done! :) :( (I can't wait myself!)
Kikizilla101 YAY
I prefer the papo spino. Both of them are great but if I was going to go by accuracy, I would have to go with papo.
Essien the spinosaurus is accurate but the papo spinosaurus is more accurate so , they are of course awesome👍 and i think they should be best friends ❤❤
My dreams have come true
Totally incredible 2 spinosaurus 1 spinosaurus on 4 legs and the other spinosaurus on 2 legs
👍👍👍👍

Papo: Advantages

Better scaling
Better Head/jaws

Better paint scheme
PNSO:Advantages

Winner is Papo
Spino the rubber duck your pfp is the most inaccurate spinosaurus I have seen in my life
Spino the rubber duck nope
To me the best Spinosaurus figure that is still pretty accurate is the REBOR one. I don't know when it'll be out tho.
the Grebnedu oh... rebo-uhg-uuuhg 🤢🤮
@@Kikizilla101 I see your not a fan of them
I wish the pnso one had the papo color scheme
I think Papo is the winner

I prefer the papo spino but the pnso one is really good
Fossil_boi_Caulin me too
i have pnso colection and only few papos because in my opinion pnso looks better
Papo is the best.
The pnso spinosaurus is 2019 model not 2020 there is another pnso figure for 2020s spinosaurus
Yes, I’m pretty sure what you thinking of is me referring to the 2020 study on how spinosaurus looks.
Not gonna lie, what makes me like Papo's more is the head sculpt. I really don't like Essien's head.
Yeah me too essien s has a 200 - 2010 feel
I have the papo one
Papo is the best nerd.
Essien vs quadrupedal spinosaurus
I don’t think Papo is accurate overall in their line up, it’s more like dramatized toys
Papo is better
Essien is way too shrink wrapped for my liking
I never liked PaPo paintins, dinos looks so old, so used, is like they are full of dust 😡
Its the real teal
Let's be honest, the pnso one is better lol
scottdabud _ YT I honestly dont think its that cut and dry, and i really like the papo on better
Papo better looks more "alive" pnso dinosaurs always look so so dry.
