Because it wasn’t about her lousy cheating husband. It was about her daughter.
It's amazing how Topanga and her family were originally portrayed as detached from all worldly kind of things but here, later on in the series, they're pretty down to earth and realistic.
I preferred her dad as a hippie. I hate it when they show a character one way, then bring them back later as a completely different person.
The show did have some serious continuity issues, like Shawn's other brother.

I may seem heartless for saying this about Topanga but I really did not like her for what she did to Cory. I understand her for being upset and afraid because of her parents getting divorce but the fact that Cory actually tried to get her parents back together (And did way more before that) and she still tried to leave him. It made her come off more as a petulant child.
exactly, Cory tried to make her happy and believe in love but she wasn't listening. She kept comparing their relationship to her parents and I get she's scared but Cory's parents were the same age and their marriage is fine. I felt really bad Cory here.

I would love to see more GMW! Yeah, BMW was better but I'd still love to see more. Topanga's parents on GMW would be perfect!! It be sad if just like Topanga, Riley hates her grandfather for what he did to her grandmother though :/

Also learning that the divorce was over infidelity was why I bet that Topanga’s mom got so angry when it was suggested they could get through what happened. As how could she get through her husband loving someone else.

I always hated this arc because it seemed like they just wanted more drama(specifically within Cory and Topanga's relationship)so they crafted this up, but it made Topanga just seem kinda dumb, her plan for avoiding what happened to her parents is to...do what they're doing? Huh?😅
Too bad this couldn't be like a Spider-Man No Way Home moment where self righteous Bree Van De Kamp from Desperate Housewives could've appeared on Boy Meets World. I would've love for Shawn to deal with her instead of Andrew!
