Your point about how the trickster can be viewed as a fool when his knowledge falls on deaf ears made me think of the entaglement between the positive and negative aspects of the trickster archetype. Perhaps when the fool does not realize that the majority of the population will not be receptive to his deep knowledge and keeps trying to share it to no avail he becomes lonely, angry and jaded in which he then transforms himself into the more negative and destructive aspects. You also mentioned Set who had domain over the desert. The desert may symbolize the feeling of being alone with your knowledge and the madness that comes from being around people who won't listen. To avoid that I believe the key is for the trickster/the fool to be aware and conscious of who he is and the role he has been given to play in this life. If the fool knows that everybody is following their own pre-written script on how to act in this life and that means not everybody will be at the mental level yet to accept his knowledge that will give him inner peace of mind. Just my two cents. Great video :)

Wow, I’ve always been a shape shifter and one day ate mushrooms and looked in the mirror and realized I was the ultimate joker/jester of the world. I have always been the one to question authority and upheave the normal way of doing things. This has also come with extreme inner knowing that is really hard to describe. I’m always laughing. Beginning with my second Ayahuasca ceremony, I've been able to shape shift to a degree (it's strongest when I'm taking a heroic dose of plant medicine). In hindsight, I've always been able to do this; the only real difference is that now I have some control over it.

@rezins5836 That look into the mirror is quite a fun experience, huh? I saw Self as more of the Sacred Clown, Heyoka energy than a trickster. However I did take note of the tricksters that played jokes and said they liked being "low-key" because psychologically we hear what that sounds like, and together basically called themselves out. Ever seen anyone's face actually shift infront of you? It's as though they were an video game avatar being edited by a player; was the weirdest thing I've ever seen, even took pictures over the years to document the changes in others. Amazing how this all works. Functional mushrooms for evolution, that's how the apes did it right? Stoned Ape Theory makes sense to me. People ask me what's so funny, or why am I smiling... something tells me you know that answer. 😉

I’m an artist who draws people and started because I became obsessed with trying to capture what I was seeing in certain other people. I’ve compared photographs side by side as well. People are always so shocked when I stop smiling ✨😅. Life is speaking so magically right now it’s insane. I appreciate your comment and love reading between the lines. Infinite gratitude! The tricksters as the magician or the fool are very beneficial in our healing journey, when they indeed manipulate in a conscious and positive manner. They then help us discover our blind spots or make us aware of an inflated ego, so that we can learn the divine soul lessons. As they deviate from old belief systems, they help to bring about the necessary disruption for our individual and collective evolution.

Thank you for your explanation on this archetype. It reminds me of a spiritual connection that I was tied to for quite a bit in which the person I was connected to embodied the negative aspects of the trickster energy (manipulative and mocking etc.) While I embodied the positive aspects. They tried to overpower me but since they aligned themselves with dark forces they stood no chance against me I just transmuted all the attacks they threw my way and made them work in my favor. It really felt like we were two honey Badgers because they were used to playing their corrupt power games with other people and winning, until they met another person just like them another honey badger. That person truly felt like my shadow side in another person.

You just explained Spirit of Self, only I see her as Sacred Clown (Heyoka). Been trying to uplift the energy by way of clever WordPlay and collages that are displayed upon other social mediums. Wow so true. I am a trickster because for surviving a bad family as a kid I just have to learn quickly who I can trust or not. And I manipulate people to stay save. So now 40 years later I can see who are bad and who are good. And I choose to work for the good side of humanity but I still can be a rebel and a fool at the same time. And I hate being told what to do.

Thank you so much! I remember my past lifes and almost all of them I was a trickster. I recognised myself in all of this description. Even the animals: raven and fox are my spirit animals and I never knew why.
I never had in my life negative intentions, but I am called to be the alchemist, the rebel. Good communication makes a big difference.

Thank you always...I have always related to the fool and the magician ... and have been told many times that I am a shapeshifter. I have always loved looking at things from a fools perspective (not from someone else's rather looking in wonder at all possibilities and feeling/experiencing them out) Fox has always opened their life to me even asking for help with their pupps at time (in the physical) I open myself always to the messages of all animals( physically sharing space with so many including Grisley bear when I was about 10 yrs. old) that wish to share and of course, many outside of myself have viewed me as being out there, and yet I feel so in here and everywhere and experiencing so many different levels of all life. This resignated strong within me and some internal things made more sense.
I've been on both sides of this as the Rebel & Fool now more the Trickerster negative side as I've grown to understand that the Rebel & Fool get penalized for being REAL & the trickerster goes un-noticed for being a Camelion of many shades.
LOVE this positive view of the trickster. Some of my favorite characters are those who expand thinking/beliefs into embracing the dual nature of reality.
Thank you for helping me understand myself. This was really an AMAZING presentation. This tends to be my dominant expression--and it can be hard to "socialize". Lost family, kept people away, afraid of me. The universal connection I have I would not trade for anything, but when I naturally cut through people's bubbles without even trying--I'm quick to earn all sorts of...distance. As fun as it CAN be for me, it can be very heavy at times. It also explains some of my interactions with "beings", seeing me as a "king" and yet wondering why I'm pulling "their system apart". Again, thank you.

In tarot, the alchemist is represented by the Magician and Temperance cards and both can be seen working with the energies of different elements in their hands. Magician is the detrimental aspect of the alchemist while Temperance is the exalted aspect.

This also relates to Scorpio/13-Death in a specific form of the energy. Tricks always transform the tricked.
That’s very interesting. I’ve recently realized the Fool , Death, and the Sun cards all share commonalities. They all have the Sun in different stages of progression in the sky, and also they all wear the same read feather on their head.
Brilliant. I always appreciated how the trickster God archetype was compared to that of the modern therapist today. So many of the methods and strategies used are basically a socially appropriate form of manipulating the clients into reflecting on / realizing their own sovereignty and power to heal and transform. They challenge us in various ways and put us in a position of fear and discomfort and a myriad of negative emotions, all in a larger effort for a positive outcome / process. Mirrors mirrors mirrors. What magic :)

Something completely different...Don Juan Matus words,..the left eye has a different intensity and purpose than the right one..left eye is for seeing, right eye for looking..when a person is trained in seeing, the left eye will be so much more intens, a normal person can see the different..thats what i noticed, Alchemist ☀️your left eye!
I love that you broke down this archetype in a way I'd never considered but makes waaay more sense. "Thief" or "trickster" just seemed like a throwaway sort of thing before, compared to so many other seemingly grander archetypes... but it was weird how *often* trickery was employed by several deities. I am Virgo ☀️and Gemini rising, so double ruled by Mercury (Hermes)
My Mercury is in Libra, black and white is mostly blended.
I am Heyoka Empath ( the sacred fool/clown in the sioux culture)
I may appear as a narcissist but Im not because I do everything with heart and I care deeply about people. Narcissists are scared of me (they are the negative expression of the trickster in many occasions)
Many people come to me for advise, they thank me for my different approach, as I can mirror them and see deep inside of them before they do.
Jung - I had to grow very fast, I was (still am) a rebel. I had to put my inner-child on hold and play the adult at a very young age. As an adult I reconnected with my inner child because to me losing the child inside = death
All my spiritual growing happened spontaneously (as in no practice). Kundalini rising, speaking to the spirit, sky scrying, receiving info about being Heyoka.
My spirit animal is the snake (many spiritual dreams came that way, and snake is crown chakra). Im also a wolf.
I am a very grounded person, but I look at life as my playground.
I love myself and I love people!

Trickster was my first spirit guide. It can be seen good or bad. He/it answered always with question. Like: What happens today? --> What you think will happen today?...
It always returned me to my core. Trickster is everywhere, it is in me, in you, in nature... all of things. In Tarot it is the card 0 - Fool. And the whole tarot is talking about The Fools journey, how to grow from fool/trickster/unperfect human to something better.
Than you Trickster for being my life for that little while (few weeks or so). From that experience I also learned channeling.
And he also show me magic.
I was walking on the street and I asked: "Trickster, I know you are there, I want that you prove me that you are real, I want to see something ... that something happens to some people and I know that I have to believe that it will happen and now I believe, show me but not anything negative, like someone falling over..."
Under 1 minute passed and suddenly car from the car road stopped in front of me (half on the walk road) and I walked pass it and watched what is happening. Inside of the car was father that was driving the car and his little daughter next seat to him, both now in the stopped car, on the side of the road. They both were laughing. He got ice cream fallen on his lap.
This experience showed me something important. Miracles are real, you just need to believe. There is no good or bad, it depents on the situation, how you react to things. He could have been very angry cos the ice cream fell to his lap and he needed to stop the car... but to both of them it was just funny.

Although I am not a fan of Disney and what they have done to Star Wars and "The Force" , I do have a guilty pleasure in watching Tom Hiddleston's performance as Loki. There is even a Twin Flame female version of himself, which he spars with. Although they never specifically mention Twin Flame. He is certainly complex and not one dimensional in any sense of the word. And my favorite villain/hero in the Marvel franchise because of that.
My tarot card is the Fool. People often see me as being very enigmatic. I delight in magic and giving power to the underdog, the bullied and the victims. I am a musician and struggle to improve. However, at times, I will reach out on to a limb and pull off some very adroit musical passages. I’ve always disliked clickiness and exclusivity. I suppose my fool destiny has found me being the new kid at school throughout my life. Therefore, I am quick to support the shy and anxious. I draw from a book called, “The Tarot of the Spirit“ by Pamela Eakins. In her chapter on the Fool, she shares a poem that I believe is an original of hers. It goes:
Ox plows field
Field brings wealth
Wealth brings power
Power brings health
I feel it reflects a lot of the things you said in this video about taking leaps of faith and diminishing negativity.

My (born into) religion, in contrast was much more about letting the brain, body and spirit stagnate in one spot, while bowing heads and only asking approved questions. Experiencing the Dark Knight of the Soul (does it ever end...in some ways) Twin Flame Journey, Ascension Journey...I’ve come out the other side as “The Fool/Trickster. A badger, a fox, and a coyote played synchronistic parts over this time. Lol. Keep an EYE on this extraordinary Alchemist, I’m running for MAYOR of a corrupt Texas Town of Amarillo (200,000). The trickster uses his projections to destory kings/queens that grew too much grey hair. A fool that takes them on a journey they both didn't choose but needed. Whereby the grey-haired king/queen begs the horse rider. the trickster welcomes it with a flower like an old friend. They will both win the world once the grey king/queen let's go. They don't know they'll be an emperor/empresses when they do.

I have always been drawn to the joker energy.
So much so, that my ex was playing the part and wore a jester hat all the time.
But I've also seen the negative traits of the fool. It can be immature and childlike in a detrimental way, too.
My family is very funny, but it crosses over to bullying.
I never liked mocking type humor that isn't heart centered at the root. However you can't take yourself too seriously when the joker enters the room...!

My first tarot reading, I'm 1986, had the Magician as my signifier, and that card has been central in my life ever since. Likewise I've often played the role of the trickster and have used that as my most effective tool for dealing with Arkons.

However, the Magician is also commonly used as a general signifier for "the self". The Magician is the self-aware, transformative faculty that exists in all humans.

I've been reading cards for almost 40 years, have had many people read my cards, have read dozens of books on the tarot, and edited several books when I was the ceremonial magick editor at Llewellyn Publishing. I've never heard of any system in which the reader selects a card for any position. They're always drawn from the deck at random.
@@lobotomyboy666 you've never heard of a system where the reader selects a signifier? That's literally in the most basic, included instructions for the Rider-Waite deck, the most commonly purchased deck in the world. Seems like you would have heard of that... with your credentials.

I resonate a lot with the positive trickster archetype and have tangible experiences that strongly support the theory. But I also resonate with, for example, a Meyers Briggs archetype based on Jungian psychology, and I also think that maybe both Jung's terminology and the esoteric terminology you propose can both be true at the same time.
After years of therapy, a short period with certain psychiatric drugs and a lot of psychedelics and entheogens, I know that who's expressing, mostly, is the wounded child for sure. But I also identify with the playful child, because I'm that way in my philosophy of life, kind of a stoic stance. Rationally, thinking and staying positive is what makes sense for me, and overcoming the pain is part of the process.
I've also encountered the trickster archetype twice during DMT sessions, but I've also contacted with a pure love being in two different sessions too. I believe that every archetype lives in us in different ratios based on those experiences, as you mentioned (being the entity an expression of an archetype in the DMT session).
I encourage you to go crazy, find profound bliss, and experience true samadhi totally sober! Yes, totally sober! You can elevate beyond a mirror while meditating. It will bring forth a new unfound strength and dimension within you. I am the destroyer and Druid.
Mind and no-mind, mind and no-mind, mind and no-mind. Closer and closer you come to the in-between space as you concentrate and unfocus simultaneously. Chant the mantra of "that is not the point," "that does not matter" when comparison, and EGO based thoughts arise in your mind. You can be touched by the Spirit once you allow your faith and forgiveness to flourish.

Thank you, this was an amazing exploration that aligns with my experience. A few months ago, I had a spiritual emergency/awakening and a month or two in after I'd learned about parts work, I had a glimpse of my trickster - mine was like a character from Yu-Gi-Oh dealing out cards that were like the distractive thoughts in my mind.

Hmm... I still believe Jungian psychology applies here and is in line with what you are explaining. I believe the trickster is the wounded (traumatized) inner child, only that the joker has healed, owns his power and can shapeshift, while the Arcon is totally unconscious of his inner child and continues acting his wounds out with 0 self awareness.

A great reference to the trickster archetype is the character of Joker in the batman comics/and especially the recent portrayal by Ledger in TDK. How he tricks the batman into confusion and getting rachel killed leaving Bruce guilt ridden
