Wireless charger..OUTSTANDING! I think the CEO is brilliant. Completely involved with the development of the airline (from design to piloting). I'm sure his half siblings must be pissed. He showed them!! Partnering with Alaska Airlines (buying Hawaiian Air) will open so many doors for this young airline. I wish them the BEST and look forward to seeing them grow and profit.

@@sean_king, maybe, but Cathay's clout and political influence isn't at its best at the moment, with the airline struggling (though by most accounts doing a reasonable job in maintaining service quality under the circumstances). Starlux's owner and CEO is from the same family that owns EVA Air (in turn just a small part of the Evergreen shipping and logistics empire, one of the world's largest) and used to be a high-level executive there, but the businesses are not related - it's one of those cases where someone from a younger generation tries to prove to the family that they can do well by themselves. And he's definitely succeeding at that.

I went from LAX to Bangkok a couple weeks ago. Flew EVA Air going and Starlux on the return. I booked premium economy both ways and must say that I absolutely loved Starlux. I think EVAs seats reclined slightly a bit more but Starlux I thought had better seats and their IFE was much superior. I would definitely fly Starlux again.

The CEO and chief pilot was ex EVA 777 Captain and they were always safety concious unlike CI in the 90s onward.
Flew both carriers often after safety audits
KE the same after DL pilots seconded to fly with them for insurance purposes in early 2000s.
    Now all much improved culture.

I recognized the design of the Starlux-branded headphones because I have them, except that mine are black and a Bluetooth version rather than a wired one. They're from the SoundCore line by Anker, and yes, they are fantastically good in terms of sound quality, sturdiness, comfort, and ergonomics, relatively cheap (only slightly more expensive than average mainstream headphones) but as good as top-quality headphones costing many hundreds of dollars. They were one of my top most satisfying purchases ever, great value, and I can see why Starlux chose them. 👍

You're really a gem to the YT airline reviewing sector, with how indepth and your knowledge of aviation is great. Too be honest, you're up there on my top list with Nonstop Dan, Josh Cahill, Jeb Brooks, etc.!!! and you haven't been doing this super long so i look forward to the weekly videos. Hope to see Starlux at DFW somepoint, as they're planning (according to sam chui's review of starlux where he met with the CEO, I don't really trust him because he's payed for by some airlines) to fly here after Seatac, which just started!!!

I have flown on Starlux about four times now from sgp to tpe and once on their premium economy class...I tried both their a330neo and of cos the a350...they are good and between them and eva I love both ...but then it's too early to say they are better than EVA becos it's too early and even though they have new aircraft...but it does give eva a run for her money...I just flew from KUL to TPE and then TPE to CDG on EVA business class and I must say though the product is dated the service and amenities are great...❤

Mr. Shea, I have been watching your videos for such a long time and am so excited for your next video. I do have a suggestion, which you do not have to follow, of course. It is where in the community posts, you could implement polls to help the viewers decide which airline you should review. I think that your channel could significantly grow by making that change. Again, I hope this is not seen as criticism but as just a suggestion. Thanks for your vids, they really aid me when I am about to go on my next flight. By the way, could you review Emirates business class from New York to Dubai on the a380. I am taking it quite soo (a few months) so it would be nice to see it beforehand. If not, it is fine. Also here, if you want is a list of different airlines and things you could do:
JAL a35k first or business. It would be awesome to see it with your detail
La Compagnie. Very underrated business class airline which, though does not have some of the perks of the main airlines, is significantly cheaper than most other airlines on NYC to Paris Routes.
Hainan or China Eastern flight on 787 or a350. Have a friend in China (13 years old, same as me) who regularly flies on these aircraft
When available, American airlines new business class from Dallas to Brisbane. Try it, it seems really cool and would love to see it on video
Turkish airlines. Seems to be an okay airline, do not get the hype (I am Greek so there may be a little bias), but the seats, nothing seems special. I could be wrong though so feel free to.
Iberia. No explanation, but not many reviews about it, so would be cool to see
Hawaiian airlines 787-9 business. It would be really nice to see how they are improving.
    Ethiopian Airlines cloud nine business
    Air Astana business
New British airways business club world. Brand new, seems to be much nicer than the 747-400 one that I went on in 2019. Really cool flight though, but I was only 9 so did not know much about planes.
Lufthansa Allegris or just current Lufthansa: would be really nice to see the airline change and become what it used to be
Qantas new a35k first class. Really hyped up for this
Cathay Pacific new business class on the 777. They are making a comeback which is nice to see after their recent troubles
Aegean airlines a321neo: This may seem more like economy but is still one of the best domestic airlines in Europe.
Azul business. Would be nice to see more South and Central American carriers being recognized, and this seems like a really nice one
LOT Polish airlines business. Not very recognized in Europe but nontheless pretty nice. Took it and was impressed
Korean air 747-8i or a380 business. Very nice and the a380 even has a lounge on it. Was really impressed when I took it not too long ago
Again, if you need more suggestions, just ask me or the community in the tab on your channel.
Really enjoyed the video and cannot wait for the next one. Cheers!

    • @goytabr
      @goytabr 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@PatrickSheaAviation, beware. Ecuador isn't one of the safest places to go at the moment. Lots of drug gang violence and political turmoil, essentially lawless. Politicians are being killed by the gangs, which are also doing random mass killings, and meanwhile the government even did the unthinkable and invaded the Mexican embassy in Quito to arrest an opposition politician who had sought refuge there (he was under an arrest order for corruption charges, which are probably true, but that still doesn't justify what they did), getting widespread international condemnation and causing Mexico to break up diplomatic ties with Ecuador and other embassies to ramp up their security. If you're just connecting at the airport, that should be safe, but other than that it's not advisable to go to Ecuador right now. Shame, because it's an amazingly beautiful country.

Other than Sam Chui's vlog about Starlux's inaugural TPE-LAX flight (which I later found out that it received some raised eyebrows from the CAA), this is by the far the second Starlux review I've ever watched in full.
This fairly young airline has shown from the get-go that it can hang out with the big boys (China Airlines and EVA Air), just by looking at the hard and soft products. It also helps that the airline's chairman is Chang Kuo-Wei, EVA Air's former CEO who was fired by his own family. With what's happening with Starlux, I guess Mr. Chang has the last laugh.
Anyway, if I want to visit Taiwan, Starlux may be my first choice. It just sucks though that it no longer flies to Manila, leaving Clark and Cebu as its only Philippine destinations.
Based from what is seen so far, Starlux has a bright future ahead, especially with those young, brand-new aircraft. ✨️

wait a sec 4:31 don't tell me the only way down is through those stairs?? so there must be a specific design related rationale for not having air vents in a350s - i think the question def qualifies beyond #firstworldproblems and it'd be great if we understood why this is the case (re pillow: a bit soft for me, plenty firm for most 🤣) that half-baked door looked like it was a bit tough to slide. free wi-fi! #nice and i also like how the flight progress bar is incorporated on the IFE interface. that meal service looked top notch, although i did notice how bumpy it was each time you panned on the plates - have you done Eva Air already, is it in your sights in future? be curious to see what they're like
