I was 16 when I first started watching you now I’m 23. I have learned so much from watching your channel about bank fishing over the year, baits techniques, learning about electronics, an what rods are best for what an most importantly what bass are doing at the given time of the year. Lots of trial an error but your videos have helped alot. I give a thumbs up. 👍
i've seen a lot of videos about the fall transition, but i feel like this one was the most in depth while at the same time being the most straight forward and to the point. i feel like i have a better understanding now and am not left further confused. thanks for sharing your knowledge and info, much appreciated
So the lake I fish in Arkansas is turning over AND we had a big cold front come through 2 days ago. Followed your tips in this video, found the bait fish working the mouth of coves and forced myself to fish the swim jig and shaky head and had good success with both. Talked to several who didn’t get a bite. Was a much better day than I was expecting. Thanks for the tips.
Great tips! I was fishing this last weekend and could not get any fish to bite on any fast moving baits. Switched it up to the drop shot and texas rig and slowly worked the bottom and the bass slurped the bait up nice and slow. Can't wait for the fall schools like you talked about!
The greatest teacher on TH-cam!!! Caught a 4.3 on labor using this exact teaching. Thank you for grinding so hard to teaching the world to fish and all you do, Gene! #myGAhatgoesofftoyou #godawgssss
I love your videos. They are very informative and I have learned a lot from you over the last year or two. I have taken what you have taught me, applied it on the lake and have caught fish! Keep doing what you’re doing!
Great video Gene! Some questions if you don’t mind. 1. I live close to bienville and would like to do a guided fishing trip. What time of the year would you suggest is the best time for bienville and who should I request to guide me. 2. Is color more important this time of year. I noticed in videos that I watch people use a little more yellow. What do you thing? 3. Would you ever think about incorporating maps in your videos to help newbies (like myself) explain what a flat is or a point, structure etc. thanks for your time
When you were talking about points and other locations (like gaps in grass), are we talking small like a foot or two or rather like ten or hundred feet?
Just found your channel. Liked the video and subscribed. I really liked the way you explain the details of where, how and what to fish for the fall bite.
Take cover!!! I’ve been fishing when the NG was having weekend drills. Nothing like automatic gunfire and mortar rounds to set the mood. When doing these kinds of lessons I think something visual would help. Like navionics images or overhead drone footage would be more visual.
Great professionalism on your video. I love the time lapse. I use that a lot. Great tips as well that I need to remember. New subscriber here. Love it.
I will attempt to apply some of this as i fish into transition but im not sure this is aplicable in the swamp. we mostly have canal banks and heavy hyacinth. if the fish do transition to the deeper center of the canals do they just move up to the banks in the winter/fall ? thanks Gene
Thanks for the help man, just got back on the TH-cam grind and I’m just trying to find the best possible way to catch fish!. By the way great content man
Ok gene, I was on Cumberland last weekend, kayak fishing. I put in at Pulaski county park on fishing creek which is a large branch off the main lake at the top of the lake near where the river turns into the lake. Back in fishing creek by the park, the water wasn't very clear and there were billions of schools of shad up in the shallows by the park. The water was down about 30 ft to winter pool, very little cover on shores, all gravel and shale. Other than a little spotted bass, I could not find the bass. I pretty much exclusively fished the shad schools thinking the bass had to be feeding off the bottom of the schools. It wasn't until after I left I realized the bass were probably out in the main channel or further out the creek towards the main lake. I assumed they had to eating these billions of shad, but as I thought about it, the shad were just chilling, the bass were probably out further where the shad were not cuz they would have scared them up into the shallows. I did catch channel cats and other fish feeding off the shad shallow though. I mean the shad were so thick, I killed some with the prop on my pedal drive. So I dunno why I had such a hard time, I've caught whites, stripers, larges and smallies off shad schools before fishing directly under and through them, but not this time, nothing seemed to be chasing them either like I've witnessed before when fishing the jumps and fishing feeding frenzies. I didn't have a fish finder though. What are your thoughts? The bass were out out the entrances to the coves and creeks the bait were up in weren't they Still down on ledges and deeper water feeding off the fish coming in and out of the shallow coves and creeks. I got excited at seeing all the shad and didn't think things through about the position of the big bass.
Bass prefer to ambush prey and habitat allows that objective to be a bit easier. They like habitat. If you don’t have grass, hit docks, rocky areas, downed trees etc
You notice Gene didn’t base his temperature readings on when he stopped wearing flip-flops. That’s bc in the South, you NEVER stop wearing flip-flops. 😂
Enjoy your videos, but here in central Florida, there are not any hoodie days......nor any thermocline......most lakes average 12 foot......its like fishing in a 100+ acre 12-foot deep bathtub with 84-degree water temp.....not complaining though, I'd rather be fishing in a hot tub than ice fishing.....
Hey gene, an off topic comment... it's not meant to be rude, but could you turn the intro video down a little? I have a new baby so it gets loud while he's sleeping and my wife's in the back room napping. You have the best short intro out there, don't change it, just maybe turn it down a tad. Just thought I'd share my somewhat unique perspective. I'm a minority, so you do you. Btw, I love how you cut the clips and make the content condensed.
Like your videos but you could not be more wrong about thermocline. The thermocline gets shallower the hotter it is. Turnover is what happens when top layer cools down.
I know what you mean I live in south Florida and it has been to hot to fish pass 9am ...I was just saying that because you had that look that you wanted to fish well anyway keep on making great videos
That's what a thumbnail is supposed to be. It entices people to click on it. I wish I knew how to include google earth in my videos without them slapping the ol' copyright thing on me.

Also, i dont use or have sonar. Finding a flat with a pocket or deeper area in a pond or river is tough to find.
I would like to say watching your video made me a better fisherman in my lake

Gene, that was one of most informative clips about fishing that covers the time location and baits. Thank you and well done.
Great tips! I was fishing this last weekend and could not get any fish to bite on any fast moving baits.

Love that you're putting out content on the regular Gene! It's great to look forward to
Thanks Gene , this was a much needed video . I don’t think younger anglers realize how important pockets and points are, even on ponds🐠❗️
It's indeed true, but if you can't reach these areas, it can be tough to fish pockets or points. Especially if you don't have a boat or kayak.
Excellent,! Needed this as cool fall temps are making it more of a challenge to bank fish. Next year….pontoon boat with fish finder.
Was waking down to my pond and seen a school of bass up on the bank started doin my happy dance can’t wait for fall

Love the vid as always! Did anyone else take his survey if not you really should I hope that his class becomes a thing that would be awesome!
You should do a tournament video
Great video Gene with a ton of info thx! Think about writing a book on bass fishing!
I love your videos. They are very informative and I have learned a lot from you over the last year or two. I have taken what you have taught me, applied it on the lake and have caught fish! Keep doing what you’re doing!
I can’t wait till next week and I can see if the fish have moved up. It’s still 100 during the day here in Texas.
Any tips for fishing power plant lakes in the fall??
Love the video man going to be using some of these tips for this fall!
Thanks professor Jensen, another great lesson. I'll be putting this to work this week.
This was a great primer for Fall. Thanks for sharing.
You are so welcome!
I'm from Chattanooga this vid helped a lot. I got a lot to learn!
going to Lake Guntersville for the first time to kayak fish where would be a good place to start out?
Great video !!! You always do a terrific job, thanks and happy fishing 🎣🎣
Great video Gene. Great advice. I love your passion for fishing. I need to get back out there again. Catch ya on your Friday night live.

I'd like fish a dropshot in the transition, but it's tough because there's a lot of grass and brush in the river I fish.
That was super informative. New angler here and I know that video is gonna help me hook up to some bass. Thanks for the tips!
When you were talking about points and other locations (like gaps in grass), are we talking small like a foot or two or rather like ten or hundred feet?
Lots of fantastic tips in this video! Hoodie season was here for a few days, now back to summer. Can't wait to put this into practice this fall!
Just found your channel. Liked the video and subscribed. I really liked the way you explain the details of where, how and what to fish for the fall bite.
Thanks Bill. My channel is full of videos like this. Some are pretty old though.
Take cover!!! I’ve been fishing when the NG was having weekend drills. Nothing like automatic gunfire and mortar rounds to set the mood. When doing these kinds of lessons I think something visual would help. Like navionics images or overhead drone footage would be more visual.
Flukemaster, are these tips and tricks good for bass in ponds or lakes? You have a greenBay Packers hat. Does that mean you fish in Wisconsin? Edgar
Great video Gene. Helps a lot and much appreciated. Gives me a place to start.
Man I love these style videos Jean
Good stuff.
Wanted to see you catch some of those around the boat.
Good luck.
Great professionalism on your video. I love the time lapse. I use that a lot. Great tips as well that I need to remember. New subscriber here. Love it.
What are the green rods you showed?
Your stuff is always so informative and helpful thanks Gene.
Looking forward to start fishing this fall. Thanks for the great video.

Gene on the boat! Let’s go!
Thanks for the help man, just got back on the TH-cam grind and I’m just trying to find the best possible way to catch fish!. By the way great content man
You get a follow for being on Lake Guntersville but roll tide and stay out of my spots lol
Thanks for all the tips!
What about smallmouth bass in fall transition

Sweet video Gene! I really need to get my boat so I can get on the fall bite!
If there are no shad in the reservoir I fish should I still fish shallow in the fall do they corral blue gill n yellow perch?
Yes. All types of small fish (bait) move shallow following the plankton and every body of water has plankton.
@@Flukemaster thanks Flukemaster you know you stuff wish u could go on my boat
what about a yamoto worm green in color.
are smallmouth the same?
Great video Gene, I'll try that this weekend. Thank you sir! 👍👊
One of your best videos!
How do you like the axiom pros?
Can the same thing be applied to the north east. I'm upstate new York southern Adirondacks
Greytroop whoa, small world🎣
Yes. A bass is a bass no matter where it is. It reacts to the seasonal changes pretty much the same way
@@JS-qb9eh where are you located
Greytroop Saratoga county
@@JS-qb9eh yep me to
Great video, will be going out to do this fall fishing 🎣
Genes giddiness at the end was so funny because he knew damn well he was gonna smoke some schoolies right after he hit off on the camera
Going Fishing for the next 2 day's thanks for the Help Great Vid
Tons of info! Great video buddy 🤙🤙
Hi everyone, how often are you typically switching baits? How many casts do you commit to before you move to the next rig?
I am committed until I loose confidence or I see something that a different lure will work better for. Then I switch.
Flukemaster is that the same with location as well?
Wow- great video and great information! Thanks for doing this.
We do appreciate it sir !
I really like your videos they help me out a lot. by the way my name is Bob Jensen
You know you're in the land of the free when Gene is explaining through gun shots in the background with no hesitation. lol
LOL. That's so true
great video!just learned alot as noob!thx man
One thing I don’t like about TH-cam fishing is they talk about grass so much like without it you can’t fish
Bass prefer to ambush prey and habitat allows that objective to be a bit easier. They like habitat. If you don’t have grass, hit docks, rocky areas, downed trees etc
I've been hitting the grass for over a month with every bait possible. Haven't had a bite.
So did this already pass in MN?
Thanks for the tips and info, hopefully I’ll be able to put them to use if Tennessee ever gets its weather in check lol. Nice video 👍🏻
They have been biting good in the Murfreesboro area in the last week since it’s cooled off
Very informative brother! Thanks for the tips!
Now that’s more like it a FULL length DaddyFluke video.
Great video thank you
great video look me up next time at Guntersville you've helped me be a better swim jig angler Thanks
Great video!
Great video man
What if you don't have grass, but lily pads?
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!!!! YOURE AWESOME BROTHER GOD BLESS!!!!!
Was fishing for bass & caught a 30 inch carp. Couldn't pull him up because my rod couldn't handle the weight.
Great video, very informational.
as always,great video.thanks.
Great Advice! Love the vids. Keep it up...thanks!
Good stuff.

That’s bc in the South, you NEVER stop wearing flip-flops. 😂
Great video awesome tips
Fished verner last week. Hate that lake. Skunked 4 times now
We used to catch giants all the time in that lake. The grass carp destroyed it.
Why do the grass carp ruin the lake?
Excellent video!!!
Had a good time up north I see!

Yep. Florida is a whole different animal in the fall. They pretty much just transition from summer to prespawn
How much easier is it if you own a boat?
You can just move around more, cover more water and find fish faster.
Hey gene, an off topic comment... it's not meant to be rude, but could you turn the intro video down a little? I have a new baby so it gets loud while he's sleeping and my wife's in the back room napping. You have the best short intro out there, don't change it, just maybe turn it down a tad. Y’all can keep that chatter bait
Wish I would have found this video before viewing anything else.
Flukemaster for president!
i will call it corralito from now on
Trash panda looks the business!!!
I don't understand why you couldn't talk and fish at same time its more entertaining than watching you just sitting there
Because it was hot as heck and I wanted to get into the shade. I'm ready for fall weather.
I know what you mean I live in south Florida and it has been to hot to fish pass 9am ...I was just saying that because you had that look that you wanted to fish well anyway keep on making great videos
Great video, but we can feel your pain not being able to throw into those schooling fish.
Nice vid. Kind of let down the map from the clickbait thumbnail wasn't included.
