The USS California is the second of two Tennessee class battleships. To say I was excited to see her enter the game was an UNDERSTATEMENT. I LOVE me some USN Standard Battleships and the WWII Refit Standards are some of the sexiest mash ups of modern and early 1900's you could get! She is THICC!!!! No questions asked! But how does she play in WoWs? Well, it's really not too different from the New Mexico in play style. Positioning is KEY. So its a slow HE Secondary BB. You just sold me for when I need to get them fire started.
Recommend using prop mod 2 pracitly doubles speed in reverse reduced speed bleach when turning and better jucking shots at long distances
YES the Tennessee class they are my favorites and my home states battleship/super dreadnought and I just adore them

Actually, that’s a 1945 refit. All the 20 mm guns are in double mounts, which she received in 1945, not 1943.
I have an idea of a battleship:
It has 1x2 19 inch gun (two cannons in that gun) in the front and it has very thick armour(284mm at the least to 950mm, reloading speed is over the top for like 8-12 secs. Good secondary armament (4x2 205mm AP shells , 8x1 100mm HE shells) to repel DD attacks. However, it's ship speed is only 15 knots because of the heavy armour. Best way to play this is to give fire support at the back.
Eh I guess it wouldn't be much fun.

California is one of my favorite ships in my fleet
USS West Virginia 1944 need to be next tho I'm not sure if they will ever get around to it but with California it might be possible.
I wouldn't hold your breath. It'd probably end up st T8 due to being a straight upgrade over the Colorado. Certainly a lot closer to having her in game. Maybe with the new USN BB split they'll consider it... but I doubt it.

This ship on console is tier five and our mm spread means yourll only ever see one up two down or two up if you fail platoon this ship is at a sweet spot in tier five there isn’t much that can 1v1 her and I adore her I nicknamed my ship “OOF” because anyone that fights her gets “oofed”
Not only that but it gets 30sec reload and not 34sec I love it
My great grandpa served on this ship 1942-46
its concealment will be its redemption factor. mitigate slow shells with shorter range ambush unloads. constantly hanging around light cruiser concealment range. colorado hits 14.61 top concealment, as comparison
All the pain and anguish of the early US grind at late tier.
For me I like the ship cuz it's a Tennessee class battleship and I don't care what the reviews are I just like the ship I really want to play it but can't afford plus I do like it cuz of the anti aircraft armament and she is EXTRA THIICCC
Frankly I love this BB at the moment I have a 60 % win rate
She can indeed punish but it's just horribly inconsistent. Like in this video, broadside New Mexico, not that far away, three hits, no citadel... earlier, 5 hits and two citadels. Colorado is more consistent with its punch than California is.

The Updated WeeVee would be a great ship to be as the final hull for Colorado... or Maryland. But Wee Vee is definitely going to be hard to balance as a T8, and is a huge step in power creep at T7. Hard ship to balance really.
Was venting my disappointment as a Californian😔 I still like the idea of a slow brawler, but she is slow, she needs armor and hit points.

so i have bought the Sims (cuz it was a buck) Albany (cuz i live the great white fleet look) Texas and Arizona (cuz both ships i like) im thinking of buying another ship or 2 do i A) stay in tiers i am (W Virginia 1941) or B) just go right to tier 10 im thinking USN Battleship or Cruiser but i think i want to stick to the heavy line (Pensacola) and im not sure what premium ships would be heavy Cruiser's

So are you going to review Greyhound (the new Tom Hanks U-boat film released just this July)? It's sooo bad. The CGI is worse than WoWS cinematics. Midway was soooooo much better.

I don't think so, if you have any downward trajectory to the shells it should make it through to the citadel. The "turtleback" armor is actually pretty steeply angled so it doesn't do what a turtle back would normally do.
Um...pretty sure USN syandard bbs used all or nothing...
Piece of useless shit. My favorite is Colorado and second is Arizona. This thing is horrid. Played 3 games and sold it.
