If you were to Sprint would they Sprint? Maybe by sprinting they couldn't walk up to you fast enough to stop you from collecting on your missions and buying from shops. They probably figured players would get quickly annoyed and slaughter them thinking it would stop. So they put in a achievement which shows that you've got fed up with them and tried to kill them.
I felt like Hamish was bitter in friendly way due to what Adam made Hamish do to Hamish's kids just to afford to keep a gold skull. I felt bad for Hamish and his kids. His orphaned kids have no hope of getting back their dad.
