Cropping pattern refers to the proportion of land under cultivation of different crops at different points of time. This indicates the time and arrangement of crops in a particular land area.
When two or more crops are grown on the same land simultaneously, it is known as mixed cropping. For eg., growing Papaya Turmeric on the same land at the same time is mixed and Intercropping. This practice minimizes the risk of failure of one of the crops and insures against crop failure due to abnormal weather conditions.
The crops to be grown together should have a different maturation time and different water requirements. One tall and one dwarf crop should be grown together. The nutrients required by one crop should be less than those required by the other. One crop should have deep roots, the other’s should be shallow. All these criteria lead to a successful mixed cropping pattern.
Mr. Sambasiva Reddy, Inapuru Village of Krishna District has a fallowing Mixed cropping system with Papaya, Turmeric, and Banana crops. After completing the Turmeric Crop ( 8 Months ), He is taking Papaya yield and also replacing the Banana in the Turmeric place. In this Cropping pattern, He is getting good Income with less expenditure.

మిశ్రమ పంటల సరళితో ప్రకృతి వ్యవసాయంలో సత్ఫలితాలు సాధిస్తున్న ఆదర్శ రైతు
బొప్పాయి, పసుపు ఆపై అరటి ఇలా మిశ్రమ పంటల సరళితో రెండేళ్లపాటు నిరంతరాయంగా ఆదాయం తీస్తూ, ప్రకృతి వ్యవసాయ విధానాలతో ఆదర్శంగా నిలుస్తున్నారు అభ్యుదయ రైతు సాంబశివా రెడ్డి.
కృష్ణా జిల్లా, పమిడి ముక్కల మండలం, ఐనపూర్ గ్రామానికి చెందిన ఈయన గత 6 సంవత్సరాలుగా ప్రకృతి వ్యవసాయం చేస్తున్నారు. పంటలకు కావాల్సిన అన్ని రకాల ఎరువులను స్వయంగా తయారుచేసుకుంటూ సాగులో సత్ఫలితాలు నమోదుచేస్తున్నారు.
ఈయన సాగు విధానాన్ని పరిశీలిస్తే పసుపు నాటిన తర్వాత బొప్పాయిని నాటారు. పసుపు పూర్తయ్యేలోపు బొప్పాయి దిగుబడి ప్రారంభమవుతుంది. బొప్పాయిలో నాలుగు నెలలు దిగుబడి తీసిన తర్వాత పసుపు తీసేసిన సాళ్లలో అరటిని నాటతారు. బొప్పాయి రెండు సంవత్సరాలపాటు వుంటుంది. బొప్పాయి పూర్తయ్యే నాటికి అరటి గెల దిగుబడి ప్రారంభమవుతుంది. ఈ విధంగా రెండేళ్లపాటు నిరంతరాయంగా దిగుబడి తీస్తున్నారు.
పసుపులో బి.ఎస్.ఆర్ - 2 రకాన్ని సాగుచేసిన ఈయన 4శాతం కుర్కుమిన్ సాధిస్తూ... కొమ్ములను మర పట్టించి విక్రయిస్తున్నారు. క్వింటా పసుపుకు 20 వేల రూపాయల ధర లభిస్తోంది. అలాగే బొప్పాయిని సేంద్రీయ ఉత్పత్తిగా విక్రయించటం వల్ల కిలోకు 30 రూపాయల ధర లభిస్తోంది. పసుపులో 30 క్వింటాళ్ల ఎండు పసుపు దిగుబడి సాధిస్తుండగా, బొప్పాయిలో ఎకరాకు 35 టన్నులకు పైగా దిగుబడి వస్తుందని చెబుతున్నారు. ఈ లెక్కన ఈయన సాధించే ఆదాయం అద్భుతంగా కనిపిస్తోంది. వివరాలు ఈ స్టోరీలో తెలుసుకుందాం.
