My charismatic friends still try to get me to "speak in tongues." I stopped that after I left the movement. They try to insinuate, very subtly, that I am a second rate believer because I don't "speak in tongues." I always felt foolish doing it, like something was wrong, but I didn't know what. Now I know. I try to explain lovingly about these things and reason with them about the blatantly false teachers (Andrew Wommack, Steven Furtick,, Joyce Meyers and a whole host of others) they listen to, but they look at me like I've got three heads.

At Pentecost, everyone heard the [praises] of the Worshippers in 'their own language'. [No interpreters were needed.] Later, if 'foreign languages' were spoken in Church, they must have been Languages that someone understood. God would never have someone speak in Swahili if no one in the room spoke Swahili. God is economical.

Every verse which includes the word tongues in the entire NT is: Glossa. It is Glossa. It is Glossa. It means ONLY AND ONLY AND ONLY: A human language...a human language...a human language...look it all up FOR YOURSELVES. I am tired of it all. I am tired unto death of all the lies, deception, evil, darkness, false doctrines, calling the saved the "unsaved." Yes: Religion/any direct lie about God is the ultimate evil.Yes. I will not elaborate upon what damage has been done to me in all those places I have been. And we are only talking about THIS ONE SUBJECT MATTER. @tuppybrill4915 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

You would have to explain where you got the 70 years from but you are mistaken/misinformed. Read the first few chapters of Acts and you will find Paul (at that point he's called Saul - see Acts 13:9) there at the stoning of Stephen and that happens very early in the life of the church so Paul could very easily have known Jesus or at least heard about Him prior to the crucifixion.

I very much do respect and appreciate Bro. Justin. But I will have to say that speaking in tongues is NOT a learned practice. When I started it just tumbled out as fast as I could speak. I would listen to myself and hear certain words or phrases repeating often. It didn’t sound like jibberish, but more like a Spanish language (i don’t speak Spanish).
In the clips he showed, they were definitely doing it for for show (Sid Roth 🙄) and insulting to the Holy Spirit. I never ceases to amaze me how people buy into this stuff.
That said…. It always felt weird and I never felt comfortable doing it even in private. So, I have to wonder what spirit was prompting this? I don’t do it anymore (never did in public/church) because I don’t feel like it is the spirit of God. If it were, I would be comfortable and at peace with it. I can still speak in tongues, tho.
    So there’s that……🤷🏻‍♀️.

Interesting how that Justin contradicts himself. He talks about how tongues has ceased, then he talks about God's instruction to the Church about how tongues should be practiced in the church.
Then, Justin makes the false claim that all manifestation of tongues is ANOTHER LANGUAGE. The Bible clearly teaches that there is also a manifestation of an UKNOWN TONGUE. Justin calls this jibberish.
Justin is teaching about something he does not understand and has not experienced.
Justin calls what he is doing right now " preaching". In reality, he is doing nothing but attacking Pentecostals and charismatics.

The words of the Lord Jesus, just before his ascension to heaven (after His resurrection), have been called the “Great Commission” to the church. The fulfillment of the Great Commission requires both the fruit and the gifts. This account is recorded in Mark 16:15-20, “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen. SO may be we need to believe.

Hi my BROTHER, I saw the picture you posted on the comments section. You looked young and was curious. (I'm 80 so more like great grandma).I see now why you named the ones you did. The Benny Hinns you admire are whom Jesus warned us about.
Until you decide to find out about them, you won't turn from them. I can encourage you to sincerely seek the Holy Spirit to show you. I was a follower, also, till I began to learn about false teachings and false prophets. Every body and their brother are being prophecied to be an apostle, or prophets. I see in scripture that the purpose of the 1st apostles was for the four of the church. We have that foundation in the New Testament.
I believe prophets are still called, but when we look at the prophets and the way they prophecied, it is totally different than what is biblical. I can't think of but one man,,David Wilkerson, that God gave visions to. The visions were of the perilous times soon to come. No prophecies to tickle ears, but the downfall of churches and how immorality is going to become. On Utube you can google Dave's name or specifically ask for the video called "The Vision ". Jesus did not go to the cross for prosperity. Jesus went to the cross to take sin to Himself that we could be forgiven of sins and restored to unity with God. Jesus took shame, guilt, to the cross. Healing is not the calling card for ppl to believe. Salvation had not come and Jesus needed to catch the attention of ppl at that time. We have the Holy Spirit that they didn't have and now the power of the gospel to open hearts to their sins and need for a Saviour. Christians are not called to an easy life, we are called to come out of the world and die to the carnal nature. I pray you really want God's Truth. I believe you have that heart for God.

Gee Justin Peters fails as an exegete on passages in 1 Corinthians 14. Big F .
Doesn't he believe in cracking open the major modern commentaries on these passages. Not difficult.
For one example. Dr Gordon Fee on 1 Cor 14:21 "the fact that in the OT context this " speaking in tounges" by foreigners served as judgement against those who would not hear straight talk (from the prophet).
Nothing about judgement to Israel..a case of reading into a text to argue a point that scripture just does not talk about.
Only uneducated or uninformed Christians are taken in by this unscholarly dribble. Notice he never quotes scholars work about meaning of passages.
How to make a ministry fooling people with lies, misquotes and sloppy exegesis that doesn't hold up.

      Uninformed? Your kidding me right?..

    • @Liminalplace1
      @Liminalplace1 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Chesterchurch yes it's pretty obvious from a biblical scholarship point of view. Do you see him quote any major commentary or argue against any major commentary. John Macarthur isn't a major commentator.
Eg Google best commentaries on I Corinthians and you ll get names such as '
      Dr Gordon Fee
      Dr Craig Keener
      Anthony Thielston
      David Garland
You won't get any of that interpretation that Justin gives.. he doesn't even mention that his view is different and push back on it.
If he is informed of the commentaries ihe would be trying to pull wool over the church's eyes. Rather I think he is just ignorant and uninformed and imagines Preachers like John Macarthur or old commentators who didn't know the ancient world are biblical scholarship. Is that enough proof to you that you are listening to ignorance, to your own detriment?
