@@frankficcle7081 She's a bit too much a walking meme I guess. Her sacrifice was VERY important in the plot, but in Abridged the audience is hardly aware. On a side note she has IMO an awesome character writing in Hellsing manga & Ultimate, as brief as it is. The writers incorporated elements ofthe opera Der Freischütz brilliantly in it - Rip, The Major & Alucard being like characters of said opera.

Oh my god. It took me until watching this particular reaction to realize why dead memes are part of Rip Van Winkle's personality... Team Four Star probably made a joke based on her namesake. For those who are not well versed in fairy tales, Rip Van Winkle is basically about a person in Colonial America who gets wasted on the alcohol of some mysterious people, falls asleep, and then wakes up 20 years later, sometime after the Revolutionary War happened. Basically, I am 99.999999999% sure that Team Four Star made it seem as if she fell asleep during the era those memes were popular, and now she is awake and does not know those memes are long dead.

Rip in original is a big fan of German opera, namely Wagner & Weber. She constantly quotes/ sings bits from the opera Der Freischütz. Also Rip has the power of precognition, either as a special Vampire ability or she already had it. That's why she fears Alucard's incoming, she knows she won't survive. And she personifies Alucard as The Black Hunter, a demon in the opera.

That thing about the Millenium having a base in Brazil is based on the fact that a LOT of Nazi had fled to Brazil after WW2. The Vatican supposedly did help them to escape as Major mentions here, but been a while since I read anything about this subject so I can't confirm it to be 100% true out of the top of my head and I'm too lazy to look it up ;p
Details are unclear and mixed with myths. Brazil, especially the south is place to refugees from europe(both ww and minor was too) for centuries. the official graves of some high rank nazists are on this region and on Argentina.
One example of that is Josef Mengele(physician know as Angel of Death/Todesengel because some very messed up human experiments). There many myths about him on Brazil but the truth is that he barely stayed on Brazil for more that some weeks. This was the result from an investigation made be an international commission last decade and the current understanding of Mengele biography

Alex is one of many fans who dubs the speech, but it's close to the original. You won't find the original speech on TH-cam with the actual anime scene playing, probably because of copyright. The only video so far allowed who does plays Requiem for A Dream theme on the background & a Korean war movie
In short, yes, they were still in Brazil. After that incident with the Dandyman, they weren’t exactly allowed to leave the country by normal means, even with the Hellsing Organization’s influence. They caused an international incident ON live television I might add. They were on the outskirts. The Vatican did have Anderson send them a knife official document allowing them to leave back to England.
Rip Van Winkle’s rifle is special. It can be controlled and rip through multiple targets with a single shot. I think it’s magic. Only downside is that she has to reload each shot manually and they’re old fashioned bullets. With powder packets like a musket. Very slow.
If you think Walter is terrifying, imagine him when he was younger. Killing vampires since he was a teenager.

Out of Millennium's forces, Rip Van Winkle and The Captain are the only ones who have actually met Alucard many MANY years ago. Van Winkle became afraid of Alucard and survived the encounter, and was able to sense him coming because he gave off an air of dread that she remembered all too well
The whole Alucard backwards thing is a Japanese thing. You see it in video games, too. In Castlevania, Alcuard was Dracula's son. More will be revealed about his name, but you won't be surprised.
It goes way beyond just a Japanese thing.
There are ancient legends stating that the only way to defeat a certain powerful being is to say their name backwards. The effect of those legends are seen in everything from Rumplestiltskin to McBeth to spells needing to be spoken backwards to undo them.
It's insane to think about... especially when Allucard is Dracula Backwards in this anime, like this is Allucard WEAKENED.

The joke is that he's named after the Quantum Physics principle Schrodingers Cat.
The way it goes is that a German physicist name Schrodinger locked a cat in a metal box, filled it with poison gas and " killed " the cat. But that the cat was both alive and dead at the same time.

The reference to Nazi's being in Brazil comes from how many top ranking Nazi Party members, especially those who had direct involvement in the Holocaust, fled to South America in order to escape prosecution. There's also a fairly famous science fiction thriller that touches upon this bit of history called The Boys from Brazil.

And I've seen/touched one up close and personal too...at the Air Museum in Warner Robins, Georgia. The SR-71 was incredibly huge...mostly filled with fuel for it's 2 ginormous engines...I was almost tempted to steal some of the titanium plates from it's undercarriage which were attached with pretty ordinary looking screws.

Schrödinger is based of a thought experiment, sometimes described as a paradox, devised by Austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger in 1935, during the course of discussions with Albert Einstein. Which came to be known as Schrödinger's cat, the thought is that if you place a cat and something that could kill the cat (like poison) in a box and sealed it, you would not know if the cat was dead or alive until you opened the box, so that until the box was opened, the cat would be both dead and alive.
Just in case you didnt get it. Schrodingers Cat. An experiment when you put a cat in a locked box and slowly add poison. You dont know when the cat dies until you open the box. Reason Schrödinger is alive after being shot is because the hint is in the name... if you need to understand, look up Schödinger’s cat. Tl;dr: cat enters box with cyanide; technically both alive and dead until observed in one of the two states (alive or dead). Schrödinger here can choose whether to be observed or not, and is basically defying death on a whim just by abusing the laws of superposition.
Funny thing about Schrodinger, he's only a he because that's what everyone around him has subconsciously decided to see. Everyone except Alucard, hence his question to Seras of 'is that boy-girl bugging you?' Named after a hypothetical scenario called Schrodinger's Cat that's used to describe the concept of quantum superpositions. Since the idea is that matter at the quantum level is in all possible states until observed (it means something different in this context), at which point it snaps to one of its states and holds it. So Schrodinger the cat has all the variables of its existence in superpositions until it is observed (the common definition this time), at which point one of its states for each variable becomes the constant for that observer. That's also why when everyone took their eyes off it, it disappeared and was able to reappear elsewhere, good as new. With no eyes on it its states were no longer fixed.
Just to help you have some contex to most of the series the cat person is a reference to shrodingers cat which was a paradox existence where it died and lived at the same time so its like a respawn thing for the anime sake

Yup, Alucard wore a female form for a time in the 1940s. Shapeshifting is a common vampire power but Alucard is not constricted to things like the classic mist, wolf or bat forms since he's so OP. The SR-71 Blackbird has always been one of my favorite planes.

Alucard is based off of Vlad the Impaler turned vampire which is why killing the Turks (Ottoman Empire) makes sense to be on his list of favourite things he has killed. The reason why his father is first on the list is that in the manga he was either sold or given to the Ottomans to prevent them invading his fathers country (can't remember which) and he was abused, raped and tortured by them all while still being a human kid at the time.

The random song of Alucard is B*tch (or Nothing in Between) by Meredith Brooks - Alanis Morrissette made her own version. It came out in 1997 & is a typical Pop-song of the 90's you expect only listened to by women & I expect teen girls or mothers. So hilarious it's even on Alucard's play list. Then again now we know he likes disguising himself as a young girl & in previous episode he already had songs about b*tches playing on the background when in Brazil... 😃😃😃

In Hellsing, Alucard is just a name Dracula goes by, and since he's such a powerful vampire he can look like whatever he wants, which is why he doesn't look like one of the traditional appearances for Dracula. The creator of Hellsing created a prequel running at the same time as the main series which was mentioned in this epsiode. It took place in WW2, and was about a young Walter, and a female Alucard fighting the Nazis, and the original incarnation of millenium.
Interestingly, in Castlevania (the game series) Alucard is Dracula's son, who usually fights against his father (or in some games, like Symphony of the Night is the protagonist). The abridged series is likely referencing that when Alucard mentions he enjoyed killing his father the most (I doubt that was the conversation in the original) since he does that several times in the Castevania games.
The abridged series likes to bring in many different incarnations of the characters / concepts when they put together their interpretation of it as ways to make jokes, or come up with alternative stories / motivations for their versions of the characters.

Schrödongers gender is actually anbiguis, because he is both male, and female until he is observed. Same as he is both dead, and alive.
After Alucard killed him, he only disappeard after nobody was observing him anymore. At that point he was both dead, and alive again.
Also mere minutes later he was already on the blimp, waiting for the Major, because he both was, and wasn't in that chair until they checked
It is a really messed up power to think about, if I even understand it correctly :-D
schrodinger is the em bodyment of Schrodinger's cat, alive, and dead, everywhere , and nowhere all at the same time, and is canonically androgynous. We literally don't know what gender that thing is, and we have no reason to expect that to change.
