I'm not gay but, if you were next to me i'd literally kiss you .... I've been struggling for the last hour to get 5 frickin broken clips out of the door and nothing worked. This is mind-blowingly easy. Thank you !!
you're gay.
Pinned
liked, coz u just saved me 7 clips and my fingernails. instead of string, i used a broken earphone wire, which also worked perfectly. thanks dude!

THIS IS THE GENIUS! Anyone can take a panel off but this is the one video worth watching. Thank you :)

Wooot - that worked great! Thanks - DIY Mom replacing a minivan tailgate lock for the win.
You saved me a lot of time and frustration. Thank you.

Brilliant! Thank you for sharing this. You've made many people happy!
Thanks so much. It worked great 🙂
I used a few strings off a nylon utility rope and they came off so easy
You’re the MVP man!
That is GOLD!! Thanks man!
It works! Not as easy as it looks to get string around, but it removes clip without breaking. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Awesome, thanks! Great video!
Dude you are awesome. I thought I was going to be buying new ones.
The clips...when removed are for the most part done. They no longer have the true structural integrity to hold the panel 'tight' against door. Do your self a favor, know the number of clips needed, per panel, before you tackle this job. Order as many as needed, usually one extra full panel count more should something happen and panel has to come off again. Now the panel sits nice and tight against door after re-install. RockAuto, Parks
Geek, E-Bay, etc ...all sell these clips...cheap.
Thanks so much for posting this, exactly the trick I needed. now to see if it'll work for me!

Wooooooow........ amazing bro..... thanks.. really really....it works perfectly.....
old video but clicked it first and saved my ass!! good tip!
I'm surprised those clips didn't break when you removed the door. Suspicious. However, thank you so much for this string method. Its genius
Some of them broke/cracked, but we're still usable. But pulling out any other way would absolutely destroy them unless you had a clip pry bar.
THANK YOU!
Exact same problem. Thank you, thank you.
Amazing, thanks!!!!!!!

Excellent
Thks for sharing. How about taking the panel off without breaking the retainer ?
I assume the test lead is already broken
I use strimmer line, and a small flat screwdriver.
How do you put the clips back on?
Thanks for saving my fingers
A metal fork with the the middle prongs spread apart slightly might work in this situation as well.
The clips in my Mazda 3 must be made from space plastic. Nothing the trusty Dewalt couldn't handle.
thank you, i have the same problem now....
I love you.
Thank you as well. I ordered the puller tool because no matter what I did they will not pull out and I cannot see in back of them enough to pinch the proper spots. Now just waiting on the clips to come in. I saw your video and was like duh???
😂😂😂 happy it helped, 7 months later.
Worked like a charm. I didn’t give you a like bc you didn’t say to 🤦🏽♀️ but the video after you said it at the end of his so I came back and 👍🏾yours. Great tip.
😂😂
I used dental floss.
they make tools for this
You pulled the clip and retaining socket out of the door. I am not impressed. You wanna Impress me try separating the two pieces you pulled out.
It's one piece
Tried this with a tugboat anchor chain. Didn't work.
Dang
Take anchor off first and should work ok, if not use container ship chain instead
Great job thx
You bet
