      Well hey there orchidcolors, it's so lovely to see you again! Hope all's great your side. Thank you sincerely for your kind words, we're super happy to hear that you enjoyed the video, and yes, captions are back (yay!) cos we're back to scripted videos. And regarding your statement "I love counterpoint". Wooohooo!!!!!! There's not too many of us counterpoint lovers these days, so we all gotta do everything we can to spread the word about how magical this technique is. Thanks again for stopping by, it's always a pleasure connecting with you, and we hope to see you back next Thursday for more :)

    Hello!
    I still have no time to listen to slipknot's new material and enjoy, but I think it's the time for me to listen to this new song! And 2019, It's the "Return of Metal" year, have you heard how many bands have releases in this year? The first band released a great album was Sunn O))) (Life Metal), and I heard Tool, Slipknot, Rammstein, Korn and Opeth have releases too. But what makes me happy is Darkthrone's release. They will release their album in May 30th, and it's also my birthday! And I forgot to mention, Amon Amarth has also a release for 2019.
    Have fun and nice time my friends \m/

      Hey hey Muhammadreza, hope this finds you wonderfully well. As always, it's so lovely to hear from you, thanks big time for stopping by! And yes indeed, it looks like 2019 will be the return of metal for sure, exciting times ahead!!! We're super stoked for the new Tool, and we'll definitely be covering that as soon as it drops! And thanks for the heads up about all those other releases, we'll add 'em to our release radar. That's awesome that Darkthrone are giving you a birthday present haha, great timing! Thanks again for connecting, Muhammadreza, and we hope to see you next Thursday on your birthday! Until then, have a lovely weekend/week :)

    Hey guys! Love the content. I play keys in a band with a guitarist and bassist, and I usually write my parts off of theirs. Sometimes, the bass and guitar parts are so busy, it seems like they take up all the sonic space, and I have trouble finding where to fit my parts in. I know its a pretty broad question, but do you have any tips?

    • @HackMusicTheory
      @HackMusicTheory  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Andrew, thanks for stopping by, and a warm welcome to the Hack Music Theory community. That's a great question, too. So, if you have a good relationship with the other two members, I'd suggest sitting down to discuss this issue, as it massively effects the overall sound of a band. For example, if it's agreed by everyone that the bassist is gonna occupy the "busier" role (like Primus, for example), then you and the guitarist can ease back a little and provide space for your bassist. To me, it sounds like the bigger issue here is that everyone is making their parts however they want, without a vision for what the band's sound is. Once you've got this vision clear, then everyone will comfortably fit into their role, which will make your life a lot easier haha! Hope that helps, Andrew, and thanks again for being here, we really appreciate you! Hope to see you back next Thursday for more :)

    Kate and Ray I like this type of videos where you analyse music and teach us other producers style and techniques however can you move a little bit to more electronic dance music or house in general (not necessarily from the latest stuff). You are the only channel that teaches stuff nobody does.
    Also are you considering making videos about song structure? Would love that
    Thank you

    I never, ever heard Slipknot. However, about a week ago, they were on one of the American Late Night Shows (Jimmy Kimmel?) so I thought I'd check it out. To this point I had assumed they were some sort of unlistenable, over loud, Death-Metal merchants. I was wrong. it was a good track. Melody, harmony, quiet bits. At least at the beginning. It got a bit . . . loud from then on.
