I use this combo on hardcore mode, and it works pretty well, I got through most/many spirits with it.

@@jackieman2 To be honest, I think Banjo smiles because Kazooie knows that she is nothing without Banjo. And the bird has to obey his every command and action of face being abandoned. Unfortunately for Smokey, he is nothing without the bird as well. It's a duo that has more problems between them than Armpit and Legpit do.
