Im so sorry guys, i forgot one mechanic: Brimy Veil. The tail does this to the Off-Tank. If anyone heals him, it will reduce the range of the healers spells. Each stack reduces it further and further. At 16 stacks the healer becomes immobile. Rate this up so it reaches the top and I will make it an annotation as well. Apologies again.
Actually, this is wrong. With 16 stacks you just can't cast or use ANY abilities. You can move just fine. Regen, Medica1, stoneskin, and fairy heals (and aldo?) don't incur debuff. Also, there is a pattern to his dives which most people struggle to see. If he submerges from the north side ALWAYS have your camera facing north to look for the water splash because he'll always be coming from that side. Reversely, once he dives from the north side he'll always come up from the south side of the arena so spin your camera around and look for it there. Later on the middle dives catch people offguard so it helps to stand middle north or middle rear to completely ignore that. For body slam it's a simple process of elimination if your camera is looking at half the arena and you hear the splash but don't see it, run your ass forward because it's behind you. There's also a way to bait the big light blue water pools to corners, since it only goes on DPS if you run into position after tidal wave because that's usually his cue to submerge for dives (except the final burn phase). If you really want to get complicated there's an image guide for dives on imgur /mlcjzWl (just paste the stuff after the slash after imgur address) Also, like one of the posters below we also use caster LB3 on spumes. For dives I find it easier to stand mid north or mid south that way you don't have to even worry about the middle horizontal dive.
Aristar I'm a SCH and adlo gives stacks cause it has a direct heal component in addition to the shield. I usually just send my fairy over so that she's next to the OT and out of range of healing most other people on the boat so that she focuses on him, and our WHM uses stoneskin and regen. Occasionally we might have to cast a heal, but it's not a big deal to just have a few stacks.
It's worth noting that the dash locations are fully dependent on the location of Leviathan's tail. The first dash will always come one of the corresponding cardinal directions associated with the tail location, the second dash will always come from one of the remaining cardinal directions. For example, if Leviathan's tail is at the northeast corner, you will only need to focus your camera on the northeast corner, as the dash will come from somewhere on either the north or east side of the deck. After that, the only remaining cardinal directions are south and west, so you need to focus your camera on the southwest corner, as the second dash will come from somewhere on either the south or west side of the deck.
Regarding dives: first dive can come either from the N if tail was N, or from the S if tail was south, OR from the side which was of the tail. So if tail is SE, leviathan can come from S or from E, never from N or W. The second dive will always be opposite -- so if tail was SE, first dive comr from S or E, second from N or W. Best way to be sure to notice the splash indicating dive: move your camera to look toward the tail corner for first dash, then toward the diagonally opposite corner for the second dash.
PLEASE UPVOTE THIS POST FOR EVERYONE TO SEE, it covers all the strategies and patterns Mr. Happy failed to go over in the video, including the pattern of dives and slams and where to look in order to dodge those moves. No "whipping your camera around" needed. There is a very clear pattern for the dives and the body slams, as you said, for the first two times he does the dives, he will come from the same side that he is currently on, so if he was North he would go from North to South, you point your camera to the North side and see which part of the boat the dive is going to hit and dodge accordingly. If his first dive comes from the North, then the second dive will always come from the South. When he goes for the 3rd set of dives (after the yellow Spumes appear) he has a chance of diving from the side. Just like all the other dive phases, there is a pattern for where to look. If it's a vertical dive (North to South or South to North) the water spout will always appear on the same side leviathan was on before he goes underwater. If it's a horizontal dive (West to East or East to West) the water spout will ALWAYS FIRST appear on the same side as the tail. This is only true for the FIRST dive of the set, the second dive will be in the opposite directions. Just like how in the vertical dives leviathan goes North to South and then South to North (never coming from the same side twice in a row), the horizontal dives go from Tail-side to Head-side and then Head-side to Tail-side. Another thing to note is that in a single set of dives, he can do one Vertical and then one Horizontal dive. If leviathan is being tanked on the North side and then starts his set of dives with a vertical dive, he will come from the North, HOWEVER, the second dive can come from either South OR the Head-side. Furthermore, if leviathan starts his dive set with a horizontal dive, he will come from the tail, but the second dive can STILL come from either the South side or the Head-side. Understanding this is essential because at any point in dodging the dives you will always know that there will only be two sides for you to look at, and they will always be adjacent, meaning you will no longer need to spin your camera around because it is quite easy to fixate your view on just two adjacent sides of the ship. As for body slams, the pattern for them is that he will always slam on alternate sides, while the chance of it being North or South is random (just like the chance of which part of the ship leviathan is going to attack with his dives) the side of the ship he comes from is absolute, and so you should always know where to look so that you can see which part of the ship he is going to attack. He first starts his slam on the West side, so the second slam will surely be East. This is proven to alternate, even when skipping phases (I was once in a group with so much dps that we fought 2 sets of adds and took out two spumes before he even dived a second time, and once he was done with the dives the body slam still came from the East side, this has also happened where he dived after 2 sets of adds but before the spumes, his slam still came from the East side second time around, and will continue to alternate for the whole fight) on some side notes: - It is worth noting that Caster LB3 can hit all 4 yellow Spumes during the second set of them (aim for the little object in the exact middle of the ship). Caster LB3 can also hit the front two Spumes as well as both the Head AND the Tail. Using LB3 in either of these ways will greatly help groups that are struggling with dps. High dps groups who don't have LB3 by the second set of Spumes can still use Caster LB2 to hit either the two front or two back Spumes. - When the Wave (blue) Spumes spawn, the tail tank should actually run to the middle and spam flash to take aggro on those spumes right away. The point of this is to allow the healers to aoe heal as necessary when all the yellow Spumes are dying and dealing damage to everyone. - After you kill that last caster add that casts hysteria, there is nothing else other than dodging some more dives and slams, if you hit a certain time limit (somewhere around 11-12 minutes, haven't actually timed it myself) you will activate the enrage, where he will perform another Tidal Wave, except this time the converter is not available to protect you, and so the party wipes. - Dreadwash can actually be negated. If you happen to take 0 damage from dreadwash, you will not be afflicted by Hysteria. This can easily be accomplished by a SCH Succor, although it is advised to stun it and avoid it completely anyways, because chances are whoever is tanking it, as well as the ones tanking leviathan, will not have a shield up, take damage, and then walk off the ship. - I've noticed that 30 is the safe number for the elemental converter, 24 usually means you wipe, and at 27 the party barely survives, with the squishier members having around 5-10% of hp left. Sorry for the long read, but I was sick of finding so many Levi EX videos that didn't point out this pattern and said "flipping", "spinning", or "whipping" your camera around was an acceptable strategy, because it is not. Once you know the pattern, you should ALWAYS know where to look, and then you can dodge accordingly. Mr. Happy. After the second WaveTooth if you do not get Leviathan down fast enough he enrages. He casts tidal wave and you can't use the converter. Sadly I saw this happen last night but we got it down afterwards so its all good! xD
nice vid, some other points are that killing the spumes will interrupt casting. This can be deadly for healers so keep surecast and swiftcast available. This especially applies if you are using the caster LB3 method on the second set of spumes, as shortly after two spumes will die in quick succession and tidal roar will go off twice as well. As for Briny Veil, WHM should be SS + Regen the OT and SCH should be letting pet heal. don't be afraid to get a few stacks with medica's or the occasional lustrate, they will fall off eventually as long as you are not too over zealous.
The bodyslam does have somewhat of a pattern. It's true that it seems to be random if he does it on the North or the South side but there's still somewhat of a pattern. For example: If the head was on the east side before the dives started the bodyslam will always happen on the west side of the boat. So if it was on the West, then after 2 Dives you simply turn your camera to the Northeast and the Southeast as it will never do the bodyslam on the West side if it was on the West side before the dives. Hope this keeps some people from falling off the boat.
After the 2nd Wavetooth Sahagin and the dives that come after, two more melee adds will spawn and shortly after he'll do his ultimate again as an enrage. So if your group kills that Wavetooth, remember that it's a dps race to beat the enrage timer! (Offtank just tanks the adds while dps burns Leviathan).
Just so you know, you don't have to beat Ifrit ex or even Garuda ex. Same goes for king moogle ex but you do have to beat both moogle king and Levi to get access to Ramuh ex
Hey forgot to mention one more thing: The Wavetooth Sahagins Dreadstorm can be cancelled by any kind of knockback attack. For example SMN pet's knockback or WAR's Holmgang works just fine, so in general get ready to use it once the Sahagin is close to dying.
I should note that after the second tilde wave you do have to worry about one more tilde wave it is his enrage timer so I you do not have the DPS or take to long in a phase he will tilde wave one more time wiping your group.
I only saw this a few times, but if you are not killing Leviathan as fast as this video shows for whatever reason, a 3rd set of mini adds appear, then after that, you need to turn on the converter for shield. Thats as far as i saw
Pretty much after you down the second Wavetooth Sahagin, its a dps race to kill him. After you have dodge his last set of spinning dives, he will do tidal roar 2 or 3 times, then summon another set of Wavespine Shagain. 2 or 3 seconds after they spawn he will use tidal wave and 1 shot everyone, since the converter will not be online.
Also remember that the phase changes are based on Levi/Tail HP, so do not DPS Levi/Tail so fast.. I did this sometimes with crazy DPS dudes, the spawns are messed up and the elemental converter doesn't have enough time to recharge to 24 before he performs Tidal Wave, even if we kill the 4 yellow balls before a single dive XD
Hmm i just noticed you party list location, wished i'd thought of that. My party list would block a whole side so I had to clear the screen which removed everything so ppl were dying since I cluldn't see their health lol. Did win though
100% spinning dive dodging. If he is in the north side, he will always come from the north side. Then his second dive will come from the opposite side (south in this example) IF you do not see him where he is supposed to be, this means he is coming across the middle (West to east) 100%
fyi, for bard 450 accuracy is not enough for this fight, you will miss your atk on orbs (unless you atk the orbs from their side and back), it is recommended your accuracy must have at least 470.
Question: does dots still tick when levi goes underwater and dive/slam? not sure if i should be doting the fuck out b4 he dives or just punch him instead
There is a hard enrage in the fight. :) If he spawns the two lesser sahagin after the second sawtooth, ignore them for the boss since you are very near a wipe.
You don't need the main ones, you can unlock this one from Urianger along with Moogle Ex, but you do need this one and Moogle to unlock Ramuh Ex, I think.
i dont like the way ur team does the 2 add sets most teams i work with that win consistantly have to OT grab both adds since the tail doesnt do an AOE off the area near him. The tails AOE is only in melee range
Im so horrible with the pattern its ashame the only reason I beat was because the other healer said follow me I kept dying like crazy. And im still having trouble figuring out where this guy is going to be flying from.. anybody else still having this issue?
on my server we use blm lb to get spumes hp low, then kill 1 by 1, this is what all pugs ive been do and we manage to kill it, adds are easy, its so funny when everybody goes hysterical xDD

I went into Lev EX as a healer, and I didn't know what Brimy Veil was. D: Should have looked at the comments sooner.

Damn man, extreme modes make me wanna cry. These things are CRAZY!

Thanks a lot Mr Happy always giving many usefull details great job ! like u !
I just tried to use my mouse to whip the camera around on the video..
lol now THAT'S funny! Only cause, I know exactly what that's like!
Dreadstorm can be silenced by a bard, dreadwash is stunable
My silence has been full resisted everytime I've tried silencing Dreadstorm
Mrhappy1227 it's time to git gud. jk!
This game is so bad ass!!!
Dude arr update they did RULES!

ive been trying to learn this forever and i still don't understand dodging the dives
How do you unlock this?
Please don't tell me you need to beat the main Primal EX modes... I'm still stuck on Titan EX :c
Maaan...
Titan Extreme is too Extreme for me :c
Gino Ramos
str8 garbage
You don't need the main ones, you can unlock this one from Urianger along with Moogle Ex, but you do need this one and Moogle to unlock Ramuh Ex, I think.
very helpful many thanks
Question, would it be worth multidotting both parts of Leviathan? or would the extra dmg be too much
I would say yes in my personal opinion if you do not feel comfortable with your DPS otherwise you should be fine.
Nice video! Thanks! :)
ty this helps alot
Ok just noticed ur comment on body slam it Always starts on the west side then alternates after each set of rushes
We used the Level 3 Limit Break Meteor to kill all 4 plumes and standard stunning of the wave 2 Sahagin
That technically is a waste. You're better off melee LB III Leviathan would your DPS allow for it.
This extreme has been kicking my ass when he goes over the boat I could never figure out where he comes from then I die lol
The fight is a camera check lol
Those dives get me every time :/ Any tips?
wait shouldn't you do Leviathan normal first?
Its really the same thing but you get rails for safe guards
i dont like the way ur team does the 2 add sets most teams i work with that win consistantly have to OT grab both adds since the tail doesnt do an AOE off the area near him. The tails AOE is only in melee range
Im so horrible with the pattern its ashame the only reason I beat was because the other healer said follow me I kept dying like crazy. And im still having trouble figuring out where this guy is going to be flying from.. anybody else still having this issue?
Can you do a melee on EX.Levi whenever you get the time thank you. :-)
Ha, first...
On a more constructive note, thanks for the Video, it looks like a heck of a fight!
Wait !! I never killed Titan Extreme or Ifrit Extreme but I have Levithan Extreme unlocked. I just did it the other day........
They changed the requirements.
on my server we use blm lb to get spumes hp low, then kill 1 by 1, this is what all pugs ive been do and we manage to kill it, adds are easy, its so funny when everybody goes hysterical xDD
why can't anyone say ifrit properly (IF-REET) not (IF-RIT) D:
Nope, it's (IF-RIT)
My first ever troll comment.... Oh, I hate myself now.
:P
who cares!!!!
BARDS FTW!!
I love your guides. But i feel there to complex, i have trouble keeping up lol. I prefer a more simple walkthrough
It isnt that bad 🎉
you wouldnt even realize this is 8 years old lol

I want to love the game so bad but after a month I beat it basically.
