This was written for and featured in a very romantic and heartwarming movie called "City of Angels." If you see the movie, this song becomes so much more meaningful. 😇
..."when everything's made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am". An incredibly powerful and emotional song. It just doesn't get any better than this. One of those songs that never gets old no matter how many times you listen to it.
It wasn’t written for the movie but the movie is about an angel who falls in love with a human and eventually gives up being an angel to be with her so the song was perfect for the movie
Shon, ☝️👍... *"Link below (81+ M views)."* 2004; Buffalo NY. They weren't going to let the fans down for an Outdoor Concert. *IT IS POURING* 🌧️☔🌧️🎤🎸🥁🎻🎹... *But EVERYONE is Jammin'* 😀😄😁 th-cam.com/video/_HZM0QiuUS8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wi3wEWl3b1zkwGCy
@@seanpatton7406 I was there! For us Buffalo natives, Broadway was amazing live that night, a song about Buffalo and with the rain the line "It always rains like hell on the loser's day parade" hit extra hard for us. If you know, you know, Buffalo people will get it.
When my kids were very young, we'd do road trips every other weekend to visit their dad. On some trips we'd listen to CDs, but for others, we'd just listen to the radio and I would test them to see which artists they could recognize. The Dizzy Up the Girl CD was in our rotation, so this brought back memories of hearing them scream Goo Goo Dolls from the back seat. 🙂
Their “Live In Buffalo” concert is amazing, watch or listen. The versions of some of those popular songs like “Slide” are more uptempo and just outstanding
The song and the movie were both released in 1998. One of my favorites from the period. This is the first song that brought the Goo Goo Dolls to my attention.
This movie spawned some amazing songs. As someone who appreciates deep lyricism you should check out Uninvited by Alanis Morrisette...theres an amazing live version on YT..but its her in a different light than Jagged Little Pill and lyrically its absolutely beautiful. Both songs were made for City of Angels
If you like this one the singer does the vocals to a song from the treasure planet soundtrack called "I'm Still Here" it can also be found under "Jim's Theme"
This song stands out because of its 3/4 time, for me. Most pop songs are 4/4 time. You could waltz to this song, though. Very few artists write songs in anything other than 4/4 time. So 3/4 sticks in your head because it's different.
He also does a version of this song with Avril Lavigne that’s really good. Check out “slide”, and “name” also John Rzeznik has some good solo songs like “I’m still here” from the movie Treasure Planet.
I saw them a few years ago in Atlanta and when they did this song it was a whole experience! Absolutely incredible. Johnny Rzeznik is just as amazing live even after all these years. The Dizzy up the girl album was big in 1998. Name (which is a personal fave) Slide, and Black Balloon are other great songs. Great reaction!
4min. in and I am here for Iris . This is one of my favorite songs . I have No doubts that I am going to enjoy Shon's reactions . Thank you ! Oh! There is an artist / musician I know Shon's likes Shania Twain ....there is a music video of Shinia's that I have been asking many music reaction channels to react to but so far no one . God Bless The Child is one of my favorite Shania Twain songs Now the content is DARK which is my guess why many do Not react to that song of hers. However as back up for Shania in God Bless The Child is an actual children's choir and the interactions they have with Shania is very loving and friendly . I do not know how everyone is not in love with this song . I really hope you give God Bless The Child a reaction
This song will never get old… no matter how many times you hear it! Shon, I’ve said it before & I’ll keep saying, you have to listen to When Love and Hate Collide by Def Leppard… I am positive you will love that song also!
Some more '90s rabbit holes: Barenaked Ladies (start with "Brian Wilson" or "What a Good Boy") Toad the Wet Sprocket (start with "Walk on the Ocean") Counting Crows (start with "Mr. Jones")
Shon, please check out the band Lifehouse. ❤️🎶 They have so many beautiful songs - “Storm”, “Broken” and “Hanging by a Moment” are my favorite songs. Their sound reminds me a bit of Goo Goo Dolls.
Just the best bro. Imma say to also react to the live performance of this song in their home city Buffalo in 2004. Pouring rain, one of the best performances ever
I’ll seconds the Buffalo live show. Pouring rain. Flawless rendition of this song. As for other bands-Shonrah you must get into My Morning Jacket. Try Touch Me, I’m Going to Scream, One Big Holiday, Dondante-really just about anything. But sample them in live the setting.
Love me some Goo Goo Dolls! I've seen them several times. I think this song should have been nominated for an Oscar for best song. It was much better than some of the crap that they nominated.
This is actually one of my favorite songs of all time And you need to watch city of Angels I would love to see you react to that movie is STARZ meg Ryan and Nicolas Cage
Going through one of those, I wish I didn't look into the songs genesis. Taken something away somehow. I know how stupid that sounds, but sometimes I can't put the genie back in the bottle. Whenever I hear this song, it will he to Meg Ryan! Sits it next to great halls of fire 🔥
Shon, you got to check out the Live version of this same song when the Band is singing in the *POURING RAIN* 🌧️☔🙂!!! Here's another great song from them; *"Long Way Down".* It was in the 1996 Blockbuster 🎥; *"Twister"* 🌪️!!! This video below is the only one on YT that has clips from the Movie in the Music Video. This is a Song that you can also add to the Playlist. th-cam.com/video/u5HYFJ-TJpI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=W0qDGtaK8ctoC83k
Their earlier mid 80s music is totally different than this and their hit songs like Slide (not my favorite), Name, and Black Balloon. When they first came out it was more like Punk Rock. I can imagine their original fans hated the transition.
Ok, at the risk of sounding uneducated, I do not know how to request my own song. I have tried to figure it out on my own with no luck, if someone could guide me with kindness, I would be very grateful ❤
The entire soundtrack for this movie is amazing. City Of Angels will devastate you, and uplift you all at once. One of my favorite movies.
One of my favorites also.
This is actually one of my favorite songs of all time
@@diandiaz9026 same!
Great reaction Shon. You’re so insightful and positive dude ✌️
This was written for and featured in a very romantic and heartwarming movie called "City of Angels." If you see the movie, this song becomes so much more meaningful. 😇
And it was later in Deadpool and Wolverine
Good movie... other great songs on it as well... has a close spot in my heart with this one 🙂
Watch the movie! Then listen again. Very special song!
..."when everything's made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am".
An incredibly powerful and emotional song. It just doesn't get any better than this.
One of those songs that never gets old no matter how many times you listen to it.
Check out more Goo Goo… “Name”, “Slide”, “Black Balloon”
Long Way down on TWISTER rocks
This song ALWAYS makes me cry❤️
It wasn’t written for the movie but the movie is about an angel who falls in love with a human and eventually gives up being an angel to be with her so the song was perfect for the movie
Now you really need to watch the movie and it will make complete sense. Yes his name is John Rzeznik!!! Magnificent musician!!!🎵🎼🎶🎸🎤🎙🎧🎹🥁🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
Should watch their live performance in the rain in buffalo ny

Here is gone live in Alaska. Their unrated song performed unplugged on a moving train with a picturesque view of Alaska
Listen to the song that got them signed “Name”
Name, Slide and Black Balloon are some other great ones!

The guitar work here is done by Tim Pierce who is a studio musician with a You Tube channel. Anyone into guitar should check him out. Cheers.
His story behind Iris made me appreciate the song more
Remarkable song!
City of Angels was like '97
