When Jaguar manages to sell just 6 cars next year, the executives who signed off on this campaign will pay themselves multi million dollar bonuses before moving on to other iconic businesses to wreck them too. Not a joke - it actually happens.

I suspect this is a clever publicity stunt. Brands like Gap have employed similar tactics in the past, temporarily rebranding only to revert after facing backlash.
As for Jaguar, it seems their storefronts and corporate signage remain unchanged, and their website is merely a "landing page." If they were fully committed to this rebrand, we would expect a more comprehensive overhaul. Currently, it feels like a strategic effort to generate buzz and reignite interest in the brand, sparking conversations around this initiative. I doubt this new identity will be adopted officially just yet; Jaguar is likely focused on reestablishing its brand narrative to better align with its upcoming offerings.
The new identity does appear somewhat "softer" and perhaps more "approachable," though I'm not entirely familiar with their recent positioning. Whether this logo version will endure remains uncertain.
This is certainly a bold move in terms of publicity; the next steps will involve repositioning and clarifying their brand message, and I have no doubt that all eyes will be on them. So far, the execution has been impressive.

Having owned two '67 E-types through the years, and worked at a Jag restoration shop in Orlando, the coolest thing I can tell you about that car is that it is so beloved that every part you could ever need is available to keep those boys running. And it's a simple, reliable car. It had an inline 6 with a twin cam aluminum head; triple carbs; and it was a hemi! There's a reason Enzo Ferrari called it "the most beautiful car ever made." Designed by Malcolm Sayer, a Series 1 E-type sits in New York's metropolitan museum of art.
So, next time you see one of these beautiful "super cars" just know that it doesn't cost anymore to make a beautiful car than an ugly one. But like everything beautiful, from architecture, cars, and women, ...you're going to pay extra. But what are you getting for that "extra?" Life is short. You can't take it with you. All we carry to the grave is our moral character. Strive to leave a good legacy, with an epitaph that encourages others to share in that walk. And the best legacy is one of Christian charity.

By the way, Sir Willam Lyons ( founder of Jag) did once say..." A Jaguar should be a copy of nothing..."... so lets be fair that the Jag ad was trying to convey a similar message as its original founder.
Apart from the latest Jag ad message " copy nothing", unless Jag can come up with a similarly unique car like those of the 1960s ( E type, JX sedans), & be reliable, they will end up as nothing but a memory very soon.
Life really is full of surprises; I never thought Jag would end up making such plain cars in comparison to the cars of decades back, nor be owned by an Indian Corporation.

The Volvo ad is well done but they, too, are mired in EV's so that needs to be modified. Quickly. If you really want a Jag, now is the time to head down to your dealer and wip out your checkbook. He/She/They/Them will be very glad to see you.

  • @martin.cerame

This rebrand scheme is yet another example of the infantile mindset of the younger marketing teams / execs who think "disruptive" is cool and effective, believing that "shock value" is a useful tool. When you can't tell what a brand is about, or worse, the visual design throws you in a completely different direction that the intended one, the rebranding is a failure.
