    Fantastic job on your project Jeep. I really enjoy watching your channel and I’m learning a lot. I think it’s awesome that your involving your family in this project,,,because in the end ,,that’s what’s it’s all about. Your Jeep looks great 👍!!! Can’t wait to hear it running. Snow ❄️ in northern Georgia,,,WOW,, lol,,that’s really cool. Especially where I live in Northern Michigan,,,when I see snow like that I know my phone will be ringing soon to go plow and salt the interstates. Lol 😂. Bud lights,,,snow,,and Jeeps,,doesn’t get any better than that. Good luck on your projects.

    Way to go John, that is exciting stuff and a big step completed! Special KUDOS to your awesome wife for the painting help, but more importantly for tolerating your Jeep obsession! I also somehow sweet talked my wife into helping with the painting of the front nose/ frame area as well as the rock sliders. I’m curious to know if the paint was POR 15? Keep up the great work and I am looking forward to hearing that engine roar! As for the snow... that’s fun to play in,, bring you Jeep out to CO next winter and we can do some snow crawling! Have a great week.

      With my CJ, all my wife wants to know is how much is this costing, and when am I getting rid of it.

      Hey Tom, sorry for missing this comment. Yeah pretty awesome that she helped me and yes it was POR 15 paint from a can.

    JD, love the evolution of your videos for this jeep build. I'm doing a ton of work to my 85 CJ7 and have looked at your videos multiple times as a guide. The work and time you put into doing the research has saved me countless hours so thank you. I have a 350 in it and want to change the headers. Currently have outside the frame headers and want to swap to inside the frame headers and have dual exhaust all the way out the back. I have two questions, what headers did you use and where did you get the exhaust pipes. I can't seem to find a good source.
    Thank
    Eric

    • @JDOffline
      @JDOffline  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Eric and thank you for checking out the videos, glad they are helpful. The Jeep has Sanderson headers on it and I believe they are the block hugger style (no clearance issues). I had the exhaust run at a local shop with two Flowmaster 40 series mufflers. Hope this helps. The Sanderson headers aren't cheap but the quality is there. JD

    JD that looks terrific. You guys did a first rate job. I hope Matt and Kelly at least got taken out to dinner for their efforts. Wow snow in Georgia, up here in central Maryland we haven't seen any at all (which fine with me). Can't wait for the next update.

      Hey John, need some advice. Were you happy with Novak Conversions? I spoke briefly with one of their technical reps and he said the AX-15 should be good fit for my AMC 304. I took my CJ to a shop that specializes in Jeep modifications and they seemed a little skeptical. Were you able to have a conversation with them and was confident that what you ordered was correct.

    • @JDOffline
      @JDOffline  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jim Johnston Novak was great. Great service after the sale etc. no regrets at all. I bought my ax15 from them as well and all the adapters. You may have to get new driveshafts if it is too much of a different length than stock. You’ll also have to modify your Dana 300 shifter as they hit one another. I’m about to go cut mine and re weld it later today. Just pointing out some hidden expenses but you get a much stronger transmission and a 5 speed. Oh and they still make these so you can get a brand new not rebuilt unit. Hope that helps.

    Any chance you have a part number on the mounts and brackets you welded to the frame

    • @JDOffline
      @JDOffline  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Terry. I don't have the exact part number but give Novak Conversions a call or look on their website and it's the Jeep CJ7 straight 6 to 350 conversion engine mounts. Hope this helps. JD

  • @mindeloman
    @mindeloman 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Helpful tip and only meant in the spirit of helpfulness: it's never a good idea to install an engine with carburetor and/or distributor installed. An abrupt weight shift or something happens and you can crack a carburetor and distributor. Both are cast metal so doesn't take much to crack one.

    • @JDOffline
      @JDOffline  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good call out. I didn't even think about it as the engine came that way in the crate. Luckily everything went ok but will keep that in mind for my Camaro build/engine. Thanks for the feedback and call out. JD

    • @mindeloman
      @mindeloman 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JDOffline yeah, it's definitely okay to get everything mocked-up while on the engine stand and get fuel plumbing run and ignition wires sized and cut. And it's always cool to see how your finished engine will look. But it all needs to come off when installing. It's usually a hoist chain that will cause the damage on the carb, as the angle changes. But good content on your channel. I'm working my way through your vids.

    I know this is a few months old but which Sanderson Headers are those? Was looking online and would like to you the same ones you installed.

    • @JDOffline
      @JDOffline  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I looked it up on my receipt from Novak Conversions and all I have is a part number from them so I'm not sure if this is the part number for the actual headers or their part number for the headers. Anyway, the headers are part # CC158C. If that doesn't show up under Sanderson's part numbers then you may have to call Novak Conversions and ask them the model number of the headers based on this part number. Hope this helped and good luck with your conversion. JD

      Didn't have to buy one. Used the factory cross member just had to drill new holes for the new transmission. Also cleaned it up and painted it.

      @@JDOffline seriously your videos are being posted at exactly where i am in my project. i have a 79 Golden Eagle. 106k miles from S Arizona. Im the second owner. She was clearly used for desert offroad as the frame rails are full of desert dust. Zero rust!! Great bones result in a solid end result. Check out Rudys CJs online... hes the man as far as quality AMC parts.

      yah I Ride I’ve never bought anything from him but have heard about him and checked out his online store a few times. Nice to have a rust free platform. Mine wasn’t bad but had a little to deal with. That’s awesome that the videos align with where you are in your project. Hope they are helpful.

      @@JDOffline I have a SBC, 400hp, modified TH350 with a gentle shift kit, and a fresh in and out NP205 transfer case.(built for up to 1000 ft lb torque) My Jeep came with solid rear axels(good thing). How did you figure out where to drill your new holes in a plate of steel. I want to use the original skid pan/ cross member... or is it easier to buy a universal cross member and just keep the skid pan seperate in the event of a needed repair or maintainance? Shell see rocks and trails never mud...

    • @JDOffline
      @JDOffline  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      yah I Ride sounds like a hell of a rig. We mounted the transmission mounting kit to the transmission and then just measured with it all in place. A little bit of a crap shoot but we got it. Totally your call whether or not to buy a new one and keep the factory as a back up. I got the transmission and mounting kit from Novak.

    Been watching your entire series of the CJ7 build, great job. I've had a 63 CJ5 since 1985 and it's now going through it's second frame off restoration. About your valve & air cleaner covers; If you want to jazz them up (I know you like RED) may I recommend looking into water transfer Hydrograhics process.... hundreds of design patterns to choose from. A base primer coat, your choice of paint color "Red" makes the background and a hydrographics pattern film over that.... red flaming skulls, red flames, ahhh red camouflage pattern? Whatever you'd like to do. Check out the process, can definitely be done at home with @home kits. I've been watching (commercial process) Jim Urbano's youtube channel th-cam.com/users/k2conceptsfeatured.

      I will have to check that out! Sounds very interesting. That's crazy you are doing a 2nd frame off restoration on your Jeep! Really appreciate you tuning in and I'll check out the hydrographics. Sounds cool.
