The shaft is a flex cable, not the stock solid 1/8" brass or steel shaft that comes in the boat. The flex cable actually bends on its own. The flex shaft is basically a steel cable so it bends and twist anyway you need it to, as long as you don't put a sharp bend into it. The Stuffing Tube has to be bent and that is what keeps the flex cable in the right place.

I enjoyed the video. But there's no scene where the shaft bends. Can you tell me how to bend the shaft so that it doesn't break?
