    I remember when Conrail put the connector in at woodburn. It connects the west Trenton line to the Morrisville Trenton cutoff. Now operated between Norfolk Southern and CSX railroads.

    I rode the Reading Railroad before SEPTA . I remember the trains traveling at higher speeds : even with some of the old mu cars and ending at the Reading Terminal.

    Whenever I hear them calling for the Meadowbrook station, I think of "Meadowlark's Theme" from the old Harlem Globetrotters cartoons - in particular the "Who's got the basketball?" scetion.

    Oh I forgot. some of the station on the line were built before the 1900s. Rydal was built in 1888 by The Reading. There used to be a freight turn around right behind the Jenkintown substation that allowed trains from the West Trenton line (or the New York Branch as the Reading labeled it) to the Reading's Mainline (Lansdale Line).

      As a kid I recall seeing the first Metroliners (MU's)setting on that turn track awaiting delivery to the Pennsy.

      The Burlington Zephyr did its speed trials on the Reading too. ive seen videos of it on tracks that had wires. it looked like the Reading but I could be wrong.

    I never token the West Trenton Line, I always take the Trenton Line from Trenton, New Jersey. Which is a nice train ride from Trenton New Jersey, to Philadelphia PA.

    Miss riding those things! Originally from Philly, have lived in FL since 1980. Good job with the video, except for the glare went it went underground. Is there some way to prevent that?

    how come that line gets shiny new concrete ties while the rest of the system sits on 1970s wooden ties? ive seen dates on tracks in Norristown saying 1969.

    I wish NJT had this equipment. They’d make for decent Arrow IVs.

    I used to ride this line when I lived in Newtown. I don’t remember there being 2 tracks, only 2.

    • @Wingnutcaseman
      @Wingnutcaseman 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The third track was extended from Woodbourne to Yardley in 2015 to maintain full time separation between SEPTA and CSX.

      Thanks. I lived in Newtown from 92 to 95 and whenever I went to Phillies games, I rode the R3 down to Center City.

    Straight track, good roadbed, yet slow speed. What a waste.
