    • @BlindWolf187
      @BlindWolf187 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good for you. The aerospace community has woefully disproportionate gender participation.
      If you're going for something like a research astronomer with a PhD, then I wish you the best of luck! If you're looking to work in industry for Lockheed, NASA, Airbus, JPL, etc. and not get a PhD and do research for a living.. then I'm going to give you a little piece of taboo information/advice that you probably won't hear very much: your grades don't matter. You need them to get the degree, to get scholarships if you have them, and to get your first real job or long term internship. That's it. Anybody outside of those circumstances that scrutinizes your grades is looking for the wrong indicators for skill, and you should be wary of the employer. Once you get a meaningful job in your field, your responsibilies there and your bosses references are what you'll use to sell yourself in the future, and that's where you'll get the education you'll use in the real world.
      I'm not saying don't get good grades.. but in my experience (from my experiences and witnessing those of my college classmates) they won't do any good at graduation without meaningful work experience.
      I didn't like school. I just didn't get on with the undergraduate academic atmosphere. I got lots of bad grades. I was put on acedemic probation. It was a struggle. After graduation, my studious classmates with 4.0GPAs couldn't get a job.. month after month (2 of them enrolled in a PhD programs solely because they could not find employment outside of university work study). I had 4 job offers from govt space physics labs and commercial aerospace companies at graduation (2 of which approached me), because I had spent 5 continuous years working as an engineer/intern for a NASA contactor.
      Don't settle for work study. Take the opportunity to take a low wage internship at an impressive company. If you don't have work experience, they'll be reluctant to hire you.. unless you're still a student (because you're cheap). Take advantage of that while you can.
