my grandmother made them during ww2 in the uk , I think one of the best gun designs of all time in that they worked and they were easy to produce and fast to produce.
Another good video. It's awesome how simple yet thought out that is. I knew it was designed for simplicity in manufacturing but I didn't know about the built in dust cover by rotation the mag well or the way the barrel nut has the ratchets like you showed.
I trained on the Sten in the British army in the 1950’s. Golden rule just push the magazine firmly in until it clicks and it will lock in place. A heavy bang on the end as demonstrated towards the end of the video, will not fix it in place any tighter. All it does is risk dislodging the first round which can cause a jam with potentially disastrous results in an active service situation. You obviously found this but blamed the magazines earlier in the film when it was entirely your own fault
I just found your channel. I love the simple and down to earth information. I know you have a business to run besides making videos and we both know how much youtube loves gun channels! (NOT!) With that being said, some of the small details you attempt to show us are very difficult to see. I have heard that trying to get the correct lighting, perfect camera and the correct sound levels on every video is a royal PITA? I have never tried to make a so called "studio grade video" so I am in no position to tell you what to do, but if there was some way you could find the time (and $$ I'm sure) to make it easier for the viewers to see the fine details? I'm sure everyone would be greatly indebted to you. If not? I understand and will still watch every video you put up. There are very few gunsmiths that do what you do and keep the information at a level a simpleton like me can readily understand and grasp. Thanks again for the awesome content and your time and effort to film this information Keep it up!
These videos are my way of sharing my knowledge before I die. We have lost way to much knowledge in the firearms /gunsmithing community because experts and craftsman die before they pass on the information. I pay for all of this out of my own pocket. I have no sponsors, people don't send me product or money to help fund my videos like a lot of TH-camr's get. There is no way for me to afford a production crew and a professional film studio to film these videos. If I could afford to make professional videos I would be selling them to cover the costs and make a living.
If you want to cause a stoppage (jam) just smack that mag (clip /just SO American). It will dislodge the first round and get a Deadman's click [or clunk in this case]. Push the magazine home not smack the base cowboy style.
I've never understood that. I just push the magazine in with enough force to seat the mag. I almost never have a problem and I have had less problems than the guys who smack the base of the mag hard.
What about wood stock nd how do you know if it’s full automatic with out firing the weapon??? Nd how meny diffrent model sten are there ??? Mk5 mk3 mk2 ??? What’s differences are they all fully automatic
Another great video. I have been trying to find the magazine repair tools but all are either sold or don't exist. If I found the blue prints and sent them to you would you be able to make me a set of a price? Thank you and Have Great Day^^
@@BWEFirearms If I had a way to get the prints for the magazines, I'm pretty sure we could make the dies to simply build new ones? The magazine itself is not an NFA item I believe and possessing or manufacturing one doesn't require an FFL? Perhaps using the word "simply" is ignorant, as I have no idea how difficult it would be depending on the gauge and metallurgical properties and properly heat treat the feed lips and springs etc.? I do know rumor has it that designing the weapon is simple and more than one great sub-gun never made it past the prototype stage because a reliable magazine always seemed to slip through the engineers fingers? I do have access to various CNC machines and sheet metal bending, shearing and stretching equipment and presses up to 200 tons and a very limited ability to heat treat very small quantities of magazines this size. I don't really want to make $$, I simply think it MAY be an interesting project? Maybe I'm an idiot also? Lol
@@superdog1964 There are plenty of magazines for the Sten some just need dents taken out or the feed lips adjusted. That's much easier than trying to make magazines.
When you take your finger off the trigger the bolt will stay back if there are still rounds in the magazine. If you run the mag dry the bolt will usually go forward after the last round unless you are lucky enough to take your finger off the trigger at the exact right moment.

Simple, cheap quick to produce and effective. Thank you for showing her off. 🇬🇧🇺🇸
Hoff, cancer survivor here. Hang in there and keep the fight up. Loving your videos
Thank you!

It's not a dust cover, it's for storage and transport. They don't stack with the mag well hanging off the side.
Interesting piece of history, thanks for sharing.
You are very welcome.
Good to see ya HOFF! I like watching you keeping Crumpy and Rich straight on crump live!
It's a dirty job but someone has to keep them straight.
Very nicely done. It's great to see people showing us basic functions and somewhat affordable guns
Awesome gun , Thanks for sharing! Very entertaining and informative !
Thank you!
Another classic

Whenever you used Sten guns, on a scale of 1 to 10 how accurate and reliable would you say the Sten is?
Let’s get this man more subscribers! Great channel!
Yes please!
Would like to see a .45 ACP Conversion, maybe even a 40 Smith&Wesson.
Richard is such a stenned up guy.
The black and the green looks sick!! I need a damn loop stock. Too bad there selling for over 100$ nowadays. I just can’t do it out of principle.
My Sten is a Interport tube gun I got back in 1990. Great SMG, or as the British say Machine Carbine.
They are fun.
If your looking for a cheaper entry level class 3 for your first one the Sten is def a fun choice
Great video! 👍
Thanks for the visit
Thumbs up and shared thank you for the video. :)
Thank you too!

It’s Enfield factory in north London uk.
You are correct'
That is the prettiest Sten I ever saw. Why didn’t you drill the hole for the forward bolt stop safety?
Thank you. I didn't drill the bolt stop hole because I always end up engaging them by accident.
@@BWEFirearms I always wondered why that hole wasn’t drilled on my Sten. Here is my Son shooting our Sten.

Nice thanks. Question if you had it pick just one of the 4 sub guns behind you which one would you pick? I think I know the answer.
It would be hard to pick one. A tie for first would be the Uzi and the Sten in stock form. Customized it would be the Uzi or the S&W76/MK760.
@@BWEFirearms I knew it! When the going gets tough the tough get a UZI👍
Have you ever shot with a Belgian Vigneron M2 and what are your thoughts about it.
this doesn't even show up in your channel videos yet! it's a secret!
wish we could own these legally in the uk

Yes I can. Keep an eye on BRP they get them in occasionally.

Jajaja que envidia esa torneadora ...
On an open bolt firearm like this one that fires from an open bolt, is the bolt open when you stop firing?
When you take your finger off the trigger the bolt will stay back if there are still rounds in the magazine. If you run the mag dry the bolt will usually go forward after the last round unless you are lucky enough to take your finger off the trigger at the exact right moment.
I wounder how accurate the Sten guns were?
The sights on Stens suck, but they are fairly accurate when compared with other subguns.
