    Here is where I will leave this.. and am asking you to do so as well.
    This video is a happy reminder to the couple of their wedding day.. and all this religious bickering that you and others have brought to the comments section is both unwelcome and in poor taste. I appreciate comments that are friendly and directed at the video.. otherwise take your arguments elsewhere

    Thank you for that information. I honestly believed the they were a less strict branch of the Amish. I know the the girls can use flowered material for their dresses, use bikes etc. There was a six week programme here in UK about six Brit teens going to live with Amish families in USA and one week they stayed with a Mennonite family, hence my confusion. Thanks to your post I've googled them and have learned more about them. Thanks. PS are you by any chance Mennonite? I ask because of your name.

    This is a legitimate Amish-Mennonite church. It is not to be confused with An Old Order Amish church. Marriage is for life and so a wedding is very big event and celebration.
    I joined a conservative Mennonite church almost thirty years ago and have found them to be real and genuine Christians. But I have also been with them long enough to know that that they are not perfect (as they would be quick to admit). In fact there have been some very bad apples in their midst. Many of those leave on their own, some repent, and some had to be excommunicated. Membership is always voluntary. Also please understand that not all of these churches are the same in regards to how they understand and live out the New Testament teachings. There are some which are dead spiritually, others have become totally exclusive and believe they alone hold God's favor. Some have fallen for the lie that their salvation is gained by their own merits. But I am very happy to be apart of and accountable to the conservative brotherhood which I'm apart of. Praise the Lord!

      PDAs - public displays of affection - are not done by married or unmarried couples. Married couples reserve their affections for the privacy of their homes. I think that's much preferable to the way so many people have decided to pet and paw over each other in public view of everyone, strangers and friends alike. Not that I have a problem at all with a kiss at a wedding ceremony, but that's my choice, and I am just as free to make it as anyone else is to decide otherwise. I just don't happen to be comfortable with some if the flagrant displays I see now. Take that stuff home, put a ring in it if you wish, but take it home please. Beachy Amish are protected in this country, just as all other forms of recognized religions, to practice their ways how they wish. Whatever the circumstances of the 1600's were that caused the creation of the Mennonites, which were in fact followed by the Amish, is not for us to judge now.
      And if you want to debate religious formations, check out the founding of the Church of England while you're at it. King Henry VIII was p.o'd because the Catholic Church would not give him a divorce from his current wife, so he could go and marry another, so he made his OWN church, the Church of England, which of course he made all his "cabinet members" swear allegiance to or die - many did swear, but only to save their necks. Others died because of their own beliefs. So now, he's got his own church, where he gets to make all the rules, including divorce whenever it pleases him, and he ends up with six wives by the time he dies. The Catholics lose power - say what you will about that - and the C. of E. is still the reigning religion. Totally made by one man for his own personal convenience. Not because he feels that religion should be a stronger force in people's lives, and nobody was threatened with death for NOT joining - only if they DID.

    • @sharid76
      @sharid76 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Shari Davenport And when I said "if you want to debate" - I certainly was not addressing you specifically. Only "you" in general.

    There are things about this culture that are good. There is a lot that is not as well. Don’t be confused by the appearance. Other than that I have found that there is very little difference from society as a whole in that there are good and bad people. They would do well to follow the Bible as closely as they think they do. Largely as long as you look the part they think you’re fine. Yet they fight and argue, mostly passive aggressively, and they split and start another church, arguing over pointless things like head covering styles and sleeve lengths. Things that would have sent you to hell according to some 10 years ago are now accepted as if God changes his mind on a whim. Most are as distracted as a chicken with a cricket, fighting over whimsical dress codes and ignoring important things like sexual abuse and real hatred. This particular group is actively harboring and minimizing sexual abuse, protecting the perp and trying to get the victims to shut up. It’s a common thing. Most of the people wouldn’t actually be fine with it if they knew the real truth, it’s just most choose to bury their head in the sand and leaders hide the truth, perps lie and are believed over their “crazy” victims.

      I mean no disrespect in these comments at all. I wish this couple all the best. I am assuming that you are a mennonite. I am also assuming that very few, including you, will actually take to heart or care at all what I or the general population think, to a certain extent. This is meant for those that do. I watch things like this through the lense of knowing what it is to be securely on the inside looking out, and also very much on the outside looking on..... Sometimes little things are the most powerful at exposing truth, a person or culture's responses to critisism or outright disrespect being an obvious tell. I was asked not so long ago by an individual you are mandated by scripture to try to reach, "Why on earth would you want anything to do with those people?!!?" The short answer is I really don't. I care about family who are mennonites, but I don't want anything to do with the mennonite religion whatsoever. The reasons? If it matters at all........ The foremost is what I was referencing earlier. I see a lot of time and energy spent on things that die when a person dies. Clothes, possessions, etc. Worldly things, if you will. The least amount of time seems to go to things that actually matter. Things that affect people and their life choices, ultimately forever, especially other people, as it were, second hand smoke. Ironically these are pretty much the same things that the Bible spells out plainly. What Ive come to believe is that, what you said, ("Let him who is without sin cast the first stone") is the reason for this. You can talk and preach about things that don't matter all day, because they're of no real consequense. However it is impossible to speak about the real issues, when you are guilty of them, without condemning yourself. Isn't it ironic that the majority of the most dangerous criminals agree with Jesus on one particular issue, ("Better to have a millstone hung about your neck and be drowned in the sea than to harm one of these little ones") when so called "Christians" hide, ignore, brush it off without ever really dealing with it? My long deceased grandfather was a devout mennonite in these very circles. He got it. He actually lived what he believed and believed what he lived. While there was no undue commotion involved, things got handled correctly, and most people knew why they lived how they lived. Now??? what I and most people who actually know these situations see is a mockery of a once vibrant life.
      BTW, very few mennonites online actually live out the difficult stuff like, "Bless those who curse you and pray for those who despitefully use you....." anyway do with this what you will. I'll leave you alone now. :D

    I do believe that culture is a way of life.. as such it should not be confused with one's salvation. I see so many mennonite churches that have their youth leaving in droves.. largely because mennonite youth find it hard to be proud of their culture because it's taught as salvation.. this tends to confuse and disillusion people to what the mennonite culture really is and often results in confusion and guilt regarding salvation as well

      Leon Yoder i didnt even mention the lyrics in my comment.
      But is it now accepted among the people of such Godly heritage to entertain themselves with contemporary "christian " "worship" rock music?

      Andrey Dzyadyk what you call a “flood of fleshly sensual emotions” i call making a joyful noise before the Lord. I think the song fits quite well and it has Godly lyrics. However, you are entitled to your opinion and your holier then thou attitude is duly noted.

    Greetings Brother Yoder,
    Though I hate to bring it up, this is another plain wedding with recorded music. And I can hardly make out what the speakers say. Will there be a version of this posted without the outside influences?
    Thank you for trying anyway. I'm glad to see something of ours anyway.
    Michael.

    • @craigramsay53

      Charles Jannuzi Agree Charles, and oddly enough, I'm one of those very rare converts. Raised Canadian Quaker, graduate of Episcopal seminary, yet find this way of Christianity, with its emphasis on the family, community and a whole plainer and separate way of life to be just right for me. It truly is not for everyone-- it is as much a cultural adjustment as spiritual. Mennonites are keenly aware of this and will not try to "convert" visitors, though all are always welcome. And the food is flat out awesome

    • @gregrak9389
      @gregrak9389 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is indeed, a cult, it's founder/leader would be considered by today's standards to probably be suffering from bi-polar/manic depressive mental illness, I think the individual may have been a former Catholic priest. People are free to worship as they please but others can pass judgment, each to their own, with respect, I would suggest you do some reading on this cult as well as on the Hutterite and Amish cults, these cults have adapted a pseudo German culture to isolate themselves and find "salvation."

      +Greg Rak hi Greg, I grew up be achy mennonite and am now a non denominationl Christian. This isn't a cult. Just to clarify. They are living as they believe the Bible says to live. It's hard to understand if you didn't grow up with it, but just like any other humans they have flaws. There are different kinds of Mennonite and Amish, but they are human just like you.

    • @moe97378
      @moe97378 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are partially right. The Amish don't use musical instruments in their services. They feel it takes away from the serenity of the service. Most of them have piano's, violins, etc in the home. I have to agree, as the acapella music, is beautiful. The real conservative Amish, or old order Amish, would not have let the video to be taken. The only way we could get a picture of my Grandpa, was to sneak it. He was OK with us taking his picture, but he wouldn't pose for one. And he didn't want to know it.

      moe97378 Moe: At the opening of the video when the camera has panned back to give a full view of the room, there is a piano on the right hand side of the room and to the right of the platform. It is open and has what I perceive to be some sheet music in the music tray. It appears that this group does use the piano to some extent but not in this ceremony.

    • @craigramsay53
      @craigramsay53 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Uriah Peep Most likely the church is not big enough to accommodate. We quite commonly use a Church of the Nazarene location for our larger weddings and they do indeed have pianos. Our worship services will be acappella only.

      Well since I'm the guy who made the video I guess I'll repeat again what I have said multiple times. The music was added per the specific request of the couple in the video. There is another video that shows the entire wedding ceremony unedited with no music added. But this is just a highlights clip and so yeah.. It was made exactly as LaWayne & Dorcas requested.
