I LOVE VAs that really love the material they're a part of. It gives so much life to them. Another good example is the guy who played Obi Wan in the StarWars prequels. He loved playing Obi Wan so much he couldn't stop making light saber noises with his mouth during his fight scenes, so they just edited out the sounds he made.
Whoever says the crowd is dead might not consider that the mics are dynamic and can only pick up sources in a linear path, (wherever it points) not from the surrounding background noise
