What we suspected from the trailer was confirmed by Acheron during thier conversation, that Izumo's story was runnin in paralel with the third impact in HI3 and even had some of the same characters, except that it was Mei who defeated her "Kevin"

the way i was shaken to the core when this played, it sounded so familiar, i guess kevin's story and image burned in my brain to last forever because i'd understand on the spot that its for him and... the tragedies this said hero, flamechaser of the deliverance and humanity's stepping stone to transcend finality had to endure.. lost everything. DR MEI who covered up the truth about the honkai exposure and dying a bit later, one of his companions forever lost in space during ARK, Su's sacrifice to stop him, Elysia's farewell party.. there was the means of previous era that made Kevin, be a hero and play the villain role forcefully(although he had all the means to become a villain himself), he was motivated by his companions and the real one that held him together during the whole time wasn't only DR MEI, he needed someone that's just like him, and that was Elysia. yet in Acheron's world he was the villain.. as he said, "There will be no second Elysia".

The fact that Kevin was Acheron's closest friend and companion hurts as people say she is a Raiden Mei expy but in actuality wouldn't she have been a DR MEI expy..
It's not like she can't be the former either really as shown with GGZ Kevin and his timeline's Raiden Mei. The Dr. MEI character on her own started out as Kevin's enemy in GGZ's Era Zero, and it's really only HI3 so far that she got paired up with him.

If you're a Lore Enthusiast and an Actual Story Enjoyer who actually can sit Hours reading Dialogues just like VN, Honkai Impact 3 is a blast.. it has the Best story out of them all.. its story is actually one of its biggest Selling Point, it also has many Manga

@@ymi8238No farm needed; you're given a character and you're practically forced to stick with said char anyway (you can use your own units, but that is entirely optional which is the best part for story enjoyers)

As you likely know, Welt is from the HI3 world, and crossed over to HSR with Void Archives in search of HSR's Himeko (who was being investigated by an alien species called Sky People, that goes around harvesting honkai energy from planets.) They found her (or rather, she rescued them when their ship broke down) and joined her on the Express, but Void Archives left at some point. While most people thought until 2.1 that the writers kinda forgot about Welt's status, they have in actuality been framing certain story arcs around him (or rather, his background). The first example was his flashbacks to Void Archives/Otto after seeing a picture of Luocha during the Luofo's Realm-Keeping Commission hunt for the one who brought the Stellaron onboard. They framed Luocha's quest around that, and while it seemingly didn't lead anywhere, returning to the Commission later lets you watch surveillance of Luocha talking to his coffin. It is later revealed at the end of the Quintet story arc that Luocha was the one who smuggled it onboard, and furthermore, that his coffin holds a secret weapon capable of killing an Aeon. These two instances are connected by the premise set /by/ Welt. As well, afterwards, you can read a message sent to the Express by Luocha, who reveals that he is aware Welt knows someone with the same face as him. The implication is that Luocha has met Void Archives before. When you put it all together, you get the theory; Luocha, who has previously met Void Archives, set up a calamitous disaster in order to ensure he would meet with the heads of the Xianzhou, so he could reveal to them a previously unknown power that can finally kill Yaoshi, a nigh-unkillable Aeon. What is the power, how did a travelling merchant/doctor discover it, and why did MiHoYo bother to frame the whole thing through Welt? The answer is in the game title. So why does this mean Welt will die? As 2.1 revealed, Earth is not the only world that has gone through the tragedies of honkai energy. Acheron's world went through similar things, and she has encountered others who did as well, though Earth seems to be the only one that broke out of the cycle. The important takeaway is that they confirmed in a main quest that honkai is out there, which turns the prior theory with Xianzhou's next arc from just a story-structure theory to something more grounded. The Honkai in HSR is becoming more grounded in the story, and at the centre of it all is Welt. He is the only strong tie between the Honkai and the Star Rail, and in order to draw the rest of our protagonists (and thus HSR's overarching Anti-Destruction story) into Welt's personal story properly, I believe the writers will choose to have him sacrifice himself. Nothing gets people emotionally involved quite like a heroic death, whether its a protagonist, or an antagonist (like Kevin!)

I have never played HI3 beyond the starting section of the game, so I didn't even know they legit used a track from HI3 while Welt was telling Kevin's story. Still though, I just had to pause the dialogue for a moment to listen to this gorgeous OST
