im a pilot and when im not training at my schools simulator some times me and the other students will mess around needless to say even our instructors with over 1000 hours of flight time cant land this........these are the worlds best pilots.

Absolutely commited, no go around options at all. Great, great pilots who fly this airfield.

This is one of those runways where you need confidence that your Captain has done it before, but then you get to thinking, ''if he has done it before, what on Earth makes him want to do it again"!

Flew in and out of there twice 30 years ago in 1988 and 1989 when the runway was gravel

Got to love Lukla. Fly it straight into the mountain and stand on the brakes. Good ol slam and skid.

in lukla theres no soft landing, what is important is to get the plane to the ground :)

Dam that landing was hard! Anyways still very impressive! The fact the pilot could land the plane in a very dangerous airport

Actually, I think they do have a go-around procedure. They call it reincarnation. With luck your second attempt might be as a bird or an insect.

Lovely. Great video & view! I saw another video where it said, children of that area don't know what car is but planes and they draw it often. Interesting!

Anyone that can land safely on a 12 ft. long runway has my vote!

I'm not sure how safe it is Yksi, this is the second Lukla video I have watched and in each I identified a Dornier 228 that had subsequently crashed with fatalities; on this video it is 9N-AHE and on the other 9N-AIG.......
