Metal Detecting : Don't Throw It Away!

- I highly recommend that you never throw away things you find metal detecting IF you do not positively know what they are. For example, on my last hunt, I almost threw away one very cool relic and thought twice about another. This video is my journey through that process.
As always, this is a how to metal detecting outdoor adventure vlog that is family-friendly and hopefully fun.
About Aquachigger:
I like to make videos that promote my lifestyle of outdoor adventure, metal detecting, yapping, searching for river treasure, SCUBA diving, exploring abandoned places, hiking, caving, caring for animals and pets, and observing the things outdoors that often go unnoticed. I keep my TH-cam "Aquachigger" channel family-friendly and hope you subscribe if you like my style.
I hope to see you guys out there!

Please see my last video if you care to see me find the relics I talk about in this video. th-cam.com/video/RzThGI9W2UI/w-d-xo.html
Also, here is a link to the "The Half Shell Book" book I use in this video. I highly recommend it. store7604577.company.site/The-Half-Shell-Book-p145210304
THANKS for the update!
This is the finest book ever published on Civil War artillery shells, hands down. Every relic hunter should have a copy.
That was interesting and great advice. Whatever camera you used for that is superb, absolutely pin sharp and clear.
Holy crap Chigg, you really need to open a museum. The stuff I see behind you really does not pop up too often anymore. I remember one day you found like 15 shells or something crazy. You know where to look too. Not that long ago you were with a bunch of guys who were talking and your looking around and you saw a spot where the farmers field went right up to the stream, and sure enough you bend down and pick up a musket. Damn your good. I fully understand why you don't want to show your collection in totality.
I absolutely love this type of video!! I hope to see more like this. And I would really like to see your collection!!! ✌️🤙👍
Love videos from the relic room thanks chig 👍
Glad you like them!
Still think you should have been a history teacher . 😁
@@andrewterry1801 Well, he's got over a million people in his class!
I love them also
Same
I always love relic room videos. You should show some more electrolysis videos as well.
Once I get it set up outdoors, I will. Thanks
I’d like to see that too. ❤

The ultimate man cave!! Thanks Chigg. Love the relics and the history.
The bayonet is in phenomenal shape. Amazing👍
It looks almost identical to the one I lost that one time..
The beaver cracked me up
I love the back drop.
Simply amazing Chigg! Thank you so much for sharing!!
Thanks, Beau. You are always great at educating.
Professor Chigg is the best Chigg. Prove me wrong.
Mahalo Chigg, You're a great teacher!
Thank you for a good video. Always enjoy history and learning, especially from a wise knowledgeable man. Have a great week.
Thank you for this brief exposition Chigg! This is exactly what a lot of us asked for more of, a little while back! You heard us and thats what makes this channel one of TH-cam's BEST!! 🏆 Hope you do more of these, its fascinating!
The beaver 🦫 is killing me because he has a special relationship with Beau. Good co-host.
And the "Chigg's Army" hat, lol...
That’s the beaver that nearly killed him
You are the ( Father of Knowledge ) on Civil War artifacts and Metal Detecting , Relic Hunting and you have the finds to prove it ! GREAT VIDEOS....
Hey, nice beaver
Thank you for explaining and showing us that info. Love your videos!
I like these types of videos
Chig at his best, teaching us dummies the proper methods of researching artifacts from the American Civil War. Well done. I would like to see more.
Would love to see another tour of the relic room. You have a great collection.
These collection videos are so coool
You are the best Beau!
Thanks
Ive been following Aqua Chigger for years and I have to mention your Camara work has sure come a long way. ❤
Thank you for yet another entertaining great video! Very informative and fun as usual. The beaver is hilarious 😂
Jack Melton is a smart man, seen him at several Civil War relic shows.
Good advice Chigg! I love to find old Schrader valve covers while metal detecting. I had a friend who told me he found one but threw it away because he thought it was a "screwdriver handle." Always make sure before you discard any finds!
Thanks for the update , and that's great advice I'm sure I threw away a lot of things in my early years detecting I thought was junk we've all done it I'm sure. Thanks Chigg
Great stuff, Beau 👏 👏 👏
Another great learning experience from the Chiggmeister. Thank you for taking the time.
I love the relic room! Its like a museum!!
Hope you've got that museum insured, all those relics must be worth a small fortune. Amazing collection.
Cool information, I'm learning more about the Civil War just watching your videos. Love the beaver!
Those mystery items always turn out to be something you'd never imagine
Please do a relic room tour! We’ve been asking for years. I think you would be surprised by its performance & kick to your channel’s engagement.
He's done them before but I think it's been a while since he's done one
Would love to see a tour of your relic room. See some of your favorite finds and most rare. Most of my favorite finds are my favorite because of the story or who I was with. Thank you for the content. I’m anxiously waiting for the next video.
That book is interesting, love the history.
Your way more interesting than my history in school was.
Very informative
I absolutely love this type of video!! I hope to see more like this. And I would really like to see your collection!!! ✌️🤙👍
Reminds me of here in Japan when I found a piece of metal near a castle site many years ago, I threw it in my keep junk box not knowing what it was, years later I was looking through the box and after taking more interest in it and how the holes on it were made and the faint design on it and then taking a look online at many pictures it turned out to be a plate from Samurai Armor, One of my best finds to date. You just never know like you say.
There has been other thing like that over the tears, Never hurts to keep it and review later.
Thanks for the info, been watching off and on over the years. I see we both are getting a lot older :)) 64 here :(
The fact you found that stick is awesome! I was so excited when u found my first beaver dam/den but couldn’t get close enough to find any good chewed wood
Exactly why your the best in the business! Thank you!
Thank you for the information! One or two of the mudlarkers on the Thames found the Brit round cap but they weren't sure what is was. Thank you! oy now I have to go back over a lot of videos to find the right ones lol guess that's all part of it. :) Yes it always pays to save the things you aren't sure of, you just never know!
Chigg is the champagne of You Tube.
id love a long video of your relic room. Love the calm vibes :D
Very cool video! I keep learning every day! Thanks and have a good one!
Great video
Thanks Chigg I always appreciate the education
Love the Beaver
Thanks for sharing!
Good afternoon from Southeast South Dakota
I have a cool thing I keep forgetting to post to figure out what is! Thanks for reminding me! It’s a flat metal rectangle with holes all over and triangle spikes coming out of one side pointing in opposite directions….
Awesome information! Love seeing your collection!
Cool I got a kick out of [and a smile here in Oregon] (stuffed Beaver) maybe it needs a new name = "Buck But-Byte Beaver" - for what 2 years ago the nigh mare beaver chasing down the Chig - LOL
Great teaching on the finds and how to compare and evaluate them!
Good explanation on those pieces. Thanks for sharing that.
Great video Chigg very informative and hope to see more 👍
Thank you for the information and entertainment, Chig! GL-HH!!
When I saw you were in the relic room, I was like oh God he’s gonna take us through some stuff and you did and it was really cool, but I wanted to see the stuff on the wall.
That’s cool that you identified the British cap most people would have thought it’s a pipe cap and thrown it away these videos from the relic room are absolutely priceless as I learn so much about civil war weapons from them thanks for sharing see you on the next one 👍🏼👊🏼
sooo true! I tend to throw all my bad find into the "second-look" basket ... a fresh set of eyes can work wonders. I recently found an iron Celtic fibula in there, which I initially thought was just a rusty modern lump (in the UK obviously)
You Just Want To Rubb It In One More Time . 🤣 😎👍✌
So very true and thanks for the history
Fantastic video and follow up video. Thank you!!!
I love seeing the relic room and learning about the different shells. I spent 4 years in a artillery battery with the Virginia guard with M198’s which might explain my love for artillery 🙂👍 Btw, I still get the willys thinking about that beaver 🦫 attack 😬
Chigg= history teacher
Always a like and a comment for the stats oh great one! Be well and thanks for sharing.
Chigg , Love the Beaver!!
Thanks Chiggs !
👊🤩👍
That's good advice. I'm more of a rock hounder, but wish I could get a metal detector. Sometimes I toss a rock I realize later I should have kept. I did that just two weeks ago and I'm still kicking myself for it.
Hey @aquachigger huge fan for years now just was wandering if your ever going to do any more snorkeling videos in the river
Like these types of "explainer" videos Chigg but all in all a longer video like this would be great.
Great educational video. Thank you.
Heroes in a Half Shell Turtle Power. Super Cool Info
This was really interesting Chigg. Thanks for the advice and that is a great book!!! Not that I will find Civil War stuff here, well not American!!😂😂👍👍😉
Cool. Thanks mate.
Thanks for another entertaining and enlightening video.
Great Hobbie you have Chigg!
Please do more of these shows
Great information and advice.
You're the man chigg!
411th like, im sometimes wonder what my items are, but i always keep what i find.
Wow that bayonet is in such great shape without any electrolysis
cool video, thanks Beau.
How cool!
It would be awesome to have a tour of your collection.
amazing. thank you
Great video! Thanks!
Thanks from London.
I think I found one of those caps before and I am not sure if I saved it. I will have to go through my boxes of stuff to find out. Good video!
Our group doesn't throw anything. We still have all of the stuff we've found almost a decade and a half ago. And the simple reason is... maybe you don't know now, but you may know tomorrow. And sometimes, not always, but sometimes, you end up finding the rest of "item x". They're all geo-tagged and categorized on one of our guy's property. He has free space and enjoys tagging and writing stuff up. He wants to open up a museum when he gets old. :))
Love you relic room Chigg! What other relic books do you use to identify your finds?
Excellent.
Thanks brother
The bayonet looks to be a model 1799 socket bayonet "Austrian " made from 1799-1860 , used during the civil war mounted on the M1854 Lorenz .54 cal muzzle loader. I found one at a garage sale for. 50 cents 🤠
very nice finds!
Very informative.
Chigg, not sure if I missed the update but what ever happened to the piece of land you owned where you were having trouble with the neighbors fencing?
Two more books that I highly recommend are Civil War Projectiles II by McKee - Mason and Field Artillery Projectiles of the American Civil War by Tom Dickey and Pete George.
awesome.............possum.
