the “turtle pinch” is almost identical to a normal turtle setup and people like tx have been using them in shots without making a big deal out of it for a long time even tho they’ve found good ways to use it because it really isn’t that crazy
Guys I swear I just invented a new mechanic. Basically from an airdribble setup you get a reset and use the dodge to completely miss the ball. I'll call it the slip reset, idk if someone was able to hit that already, pretty insane

I will say, there was this mechanic I learned about in Freeplay where if you jump, air roll and pull back on the stick, while dribbling the ball on top of your car, it flicks the ball up like a flick, but without the dodge. I could see it with some potential (Flicking it up, and using the dodge not much longer after) but havnt been able control it well enough to learn. Wouldn't call it inventing anything tho, and im sure many others know of it too.
I don't recall how exactly to do it, I usually recreate it by playing around with my flip timing and holding boost, but I know there is way in the tournament pre-game lobby to infinitely spin in a circle on the side of your car. Not flipped upside down, but on the side, and it looks really cool. I play on console without a capture card, so I can't submit it anywhere, but its pretty sick useless tech
I think you shouldve touch on naming mechanics a little more in this video. Theres a lot of divide between trying to describe the mechanic and naming it after its discoverer. A lot of casters including johnnyboi prefer the describe name since it helps new players or outside viewers understand what they are doing and whats going on, while on the other hand, the community seems to like naming it after the person who discovers it for credit. Theres definitely points to be made for both sides and im more incline to side with the more describing nature to naming mechanics

I think I figured a different way to start a lix flip, by front flipping horizontally against a corner wall you can start like a ground tornado flying except you use it to trigger the lix against the wall in front of you. Probably doing a side drift while front flipping in the corner helps. I have messed with these weirds limitis of physics in RL and I'm sure lix jumps are not exclusive to what you've covered yet, one time I even got one accidentally a long time ago but I didn't have the skill to analyse it at the time... I also have a video on my YT channel showing a dropshot turtle hop bug using the hitboxes of the floor's edge in dropshot. It was accidental but the timing was too perfect I'm certain it can be reproduced.

If you want to beat striped in that competition you gotta start making longer videos, By no means is it easy but I think that would really help. (definately not saying this to get more content) Go for it
Wayton this video is good and all, but I actually do have a new mechanic to show you. If you hit the ball in the air with the bottom of you car while twist flipping you can hit the ball weird and it is cool. I want to call it the Gil touch or "Gulch" for short.

My opinion: You can discover new mechanics, completely by accident like Fetelix did just recently. However you won't get far with aiming for a new mechanic, since you msotly don't know where to and it's just like learning a new mechanic, it will take a long time before you can even do it properly or find a situation to use it in and call it a mechanic.
With the lix jump I think the reason pros can hit it so quick it’s bc they already had Ariel control from past moves so all they had to practice was the movement of it not the actual air control that can take way longer to learn
There was definitely a time or two when I was lower ranked and newer that I just did a normal flick slightly different and thought I had done something
I actually did see a new way to maintain your flip reset from the ground if the ball is coming towards you. I didn’t find it and I’m not taking credit. It was somewhere on Reddit. You have to have the ball coming towards you and you hit the ball with the bottom of your car and just fly up to it. Not very useful in high ranked matches bc defense would beat you to it but maybe in low ranks it could be used. I’ve never done it or tried I’ve just seen it done.

i actually discovered a new mechanic on accident. when u twist flip into the ball while trying to get a flip reset, it just launches the ball with high speed. i managed to get it 4 times. and it looks like a purple shot. now i am starting to miss resets coz of that.

I think part of the reason people desire creating new mechanics is due to Misty’s success. He gave it a name and made a video on it and it went viral. Players see the success he’s had-completely neglecting just how hard he’s worked and created content since, and just see the millions of dollars he’s made.
