I must say, when I was young around 12 years old, you were my skateboarding hero, I was completely amazed at how good you were, now I'm almost 24 and gotta say you STILL are a hero to me, keep it up, keep moving forward because thanks to you, no one can beat me at a game of skate at my local skatepark. Stay strong bro.
You've got this man! Always a class act, even with an annoying baseball dad cracking jokes while your sitting there contemplating your entire existence.
Stay strong Paul! I picked up my board again this week after 8 years of not skateboarding, stopped 8 years ago due to an ACL injury. Spend the last 8 years making music but this week it started to itch again, picked up my board and had a good 2,5 hour session and decided to post some of it on my TH-cam channel. Will be documenting my progress on my channel as well! It felt so good to be back on the board so I'm buying a new board soon. I can feel your pain bro, felt exactly the same when I had my injury. Felt my left knee dislocate and pop straight back in, was one of the worst pains I've ever had. For me it happened with a heelflip gap, so when I went out skating this week I obviously had to overwin my fear for the heelflip and I managed to land it after a bunch of tries! Keep working on that recovery Paul, you are a legend and an inspiration to all of us!
P-Rod, keep that same mental attitude after the surgery and REHABBING that knee will go as far as your positive mind set. I had the terrible triad a long time ago and the best piece of advice I could give somebody else is 1. positive attitude 2. get your quad as strong as possible! Good luck to you Paul.
I am so sorry Paul. Did the splits skating a few months ago, pulled the left hamstring and bashed/pulled the ligaments on the right knee. Still tender but working through it. Listen to your medical team. Avoid the urge to skate as soon as you regain your mobility until you are given the 100% clear from the doctor. Swimming will do wonders for your rehabilitation. Keep strong and focused. Many people are rooting for you and wish you a speedy recovery. All the best from Canada.
Hey paul just a random fan here, you probably wont even get to this but if you do just know that you’re have literally the best mental state you could have at this time, i went through the same surgery about almost 2 years ago and was able to recover in a month or two and the way you’re putting in work and how calm yet aware of where you’re at in your situation is amazing! Keep it up, get well soon.. you’re gonna come back even better!
Tore my acl at 41. Ten months off and two years of almost daily skating before things seemed somewhat normal. The initial motivation pushed me to get back as much as I could. Two six month breaks in the next two years due to life and I lost everything including the progress I made on my quad. I had to go back to rehab to re-work on my quad just to be able to skate again. My point is as someone else already said put the work in on your quad and remember that selfish motivation.. without it things will never be the same.
Oh man this was so inspiring to me. I had surgery almost 2 weeks ago and i tore my acl and meniskus and it has been so hard for me to just lay in bed and cant do anything but you gave me the strenght to go on and not get depressed about this. From this day on i’ll do extra hard work with my rehab and try to enjoy life any possible way and for a bit not thinking skateboarding at all. Just recovery and people around me is what im going to focus! I hope you get to the surgery soon and in no time the pain will go away after the surgery and youll be back
Good luck Paul!! Good of you to show your road to recovery for those who are in a similar situation. Love the part where you talk about the mental aspect of having an injury, it's still a under rated part of rehab today. Keep up the good work dude! Excited to see you back on the board!
I gotta say the worst thing when i did my acl/meniscus and after surgery was getting out of bed in the morning and trying to walk, all the blood rushes through your knee and its excruciating. I'm not saying that you shouldnt get the surgery but just get ready for it because i couldn't walk more then 2 metres without crying. but i wish you the best recovery and all the best with your career! you are one of the only people to make me wanna skate. I'm 20 in October and just started to skate last year but I've watched your parts and vids a long time ago. So keep up with all your rehab and I can't wait to see you on a board again!
Get better soon dude!! Heard what you had to say on The NINE Club recently and just remember you gave soooooo much to skateboarding and skateboarders already over your whole career that just seeing you cruising down the street will make people happy.
Stay strong homie, I went through the same thing a year ago and we're the same age . You'll be good and back better then ever, the knee I hurt is now stronger than my other knee. You will be in my prayers stay strong you will be back promise, your the best !! Stay strong and have faith GOD is with you. Peace
Hey Paul this video series is awesome to see what going through this is like for you. I tore my acl last summer and im finally back on board after surgery and recovery. But there was nothing like this to give me hope through that time, so thank you! And i know you will come back better than ever
I just love P Rod as a person and skater. love watching him fall trying tricks and just his overall attitude and personality. Such a humble dude I looked up to him when i was a kid, a teenage Mexican Skater. Just like him 😊😊
Thank you so much for posting this. I just got my mri results last night. I’ve got the terrible traid myself. I haven’t been able to find any good resources online about what I should expect these next few months. This has been an enormous help
Hey Paul, it's good to see you motivated and open, sometimes a break is necessary, it's a good time to see things back, make adjustments and go forward with more energy. I bet you will be better soon, faster than expected, enjoy this time man
Paul, I hope you get your surgery ASAP and recovery goes well. If there's one thing I have learned from having numerous surgeries (7 on my right ankle), don't be afraid or embarrassed to ask for help with something if you need it. Prayers. 💜
thanks for people being part of your recovery Paul! I also have torn my Meniskus. i don’t want to say I know how you feel, because I’m just skateing for fun and not for a living, but it really sucks to don’t be able to skate. the addiction to skate is just to strong and I also wondered if i’m ever gonna be able to jump down stairs again in the future. right know I keep it pretty mellow by just skateing small ledges. I wish you all the best for your recovery and hope to see you shredding the streets again as soon as your knee is able to skate again!
Bro - You know I've gone through this a few times now.... Stay focused,as you do. Stay active, as you do. Stay motivated, as you do. Stay healthy, as you do! YOU GOT THIS!
Just got out of acl surgery 4 weeks ago and I can’t help but overthink the whole entire process, I keep thinking if I’m gonna come back the same or even at all I know it’s nothing compared to your injury but It’s hard to think about the recovery process I’m crying just watching the video, as I’m watching this video though it’s motivating to wanna keep going and better myself I’m trying my best not to slack on physical therapy but it’s hard to keep up with 8-12 exercises 2 -3 times a day I’m kinda lost at the moment but stuff like this is definitely helping me. Thank you for the motivation Prod you’re a G!
Recently came back from my 2nd knee surgery. I'm more grateful than ever to be back on a board. The wait sucks but the same time it's gonna make it coming back that much more special. Stay strong Paul!
Motivation for the injured man had a bad sprain n it’s been messing with me the past 3 months get past it for the ppl who need to know it’s possible if u can do it so can I type shit even tho ur one of the greatest to skate stay up
Hey Paul, I tore my Acl when I was 17 the road to recovery and having to wait for surgery sucks man, but I'll be praying for you, He brought you to it, to put you through it. God bless man. Isaiah 41:10
These videos are really helping me right now. Last month I severely broke my ankle with skating, also with my last trick on the line (stupid hippie jump over a bench). I got surgery two weeks ago, pins through the bone. In about 8 weeks 2 of the 4 pins get removed, and then I can start putting weight on it little by little. Need to relearn to walk, move my whole ankle and probably relearn how to skate again, the whole process was said to take half a year, maybe more. A year to be back to where I was. I feel you man, thanks for showing this, it felt, it feels as if my world is crumbling because of this and the changed situation. Sorry to ramble all this, just had to spill my beans somewhere :') Keep up the great work, hope you can get well sooner than expected! thanks for inspiring
Thankyou for sharing Paul, I tore my ACL, PCL and shattered meniscus 6 years ago and relate to this heaps. Kia Kaha and all the best for your recovery, looking foward to seeing you skate again!
Glad you're keeping your head up, and not dwelling on it all. It's tough man, I hope you make a speedy recovery. I know you'll be back better then ever. Like you said, the longest you've gone is like a month without skating. Once you get back, you'll have hella ideas and it will be fresh.
Good luck with the recovery I tore my mcl last year and it sucked when it happened but since then my knee has gotten better and I’m way more motivated to skate
tbh I'm just shocked you've been skating as much as you have, as hard as you have, for as long as you have and never had a worse injury than a sprained ankle after 21 years. That's impressive in and of itself. I have no doubt you'll be twice as motivated once you get back on the board. When you love skating as much as you do and don't get to skate for so long, you get super inspired once you can finally skate again. Best of luck! You'll be killing it again in no time.
I pray you get better prod I'm 28 and have watched you skate for ever u and Eric were the ones that always pushed me I skated with you guys at spot and gotta say it was the best skate day in my life prayers are with you man stay focused you got this bro
Grew up skating, throwing myself off of big sets, skating rails etc. I haven’t skated competitively in over 8 years and I go and tear my ACL playing ball with my friends. It worse injury and worse pain I have ever suffered. A year and a half later and my knee is still shit and I’m constantly scared to re injure it after surgery. I know for a fact he won’t skate anything big for at least a year and a half. Wish him a speedy recovery.
P Rod. Thanks for the motivation. I'm sorry you got hurt. I've been skating for 20 years. Just tour my ACL. Im so upset I hope I'll get back on the board one day. I feel like it's the end of my life. I look up to people like you. See living. Keep loving. Keep thrashing!
I have been watching your Never part daily ever since it came out. Feels weird to realize this is what you've been going through all along (and still have a way to go). We are all flesh and blood, and, as you said it yourself, many people go through this. All the best. Be back soon, stronger than ever in every sense of the word!
Paul you will over come this injury the same way i did too, you have always been my favorite skater since i first hopped on the board. My favorite memory of you is when you won street league in phoenix arizona. i got to see it live i was rooting for u then and i will continue to root for you now. Get well soon friend and im looking forward to the comeback!
I feel ur pain bro I went thru the same thing but was trying to kickflip a 6 stair and popped my knee and tore my acl, meniscus idk if I spelled it right and stretched the ligaments of my knee. stay strong and never get unmotivated good luck☺
Completely tore my right ACL back in late June, and having surgery on the 26th. I got injured skating too man. Thjs video is informative and gives me hope. Doc told me a year till I can skate after
I feel so sorry for Paul, as a skater and as a PT student I perfectly understand what Paul is feeling and I hope the best for him he´s so strong and he´ll be back in no time, he just have to be careful with the timing, you have to let heal the tissues in order to put back stress on them, I´m giving my best so I can help athletes to come back from injury even stronger than before.
hi Paul, I wish you the best recovery possible, you're a legend and so many skaters around the world await to be inspired by your next parts. Stay strong, again wish you the best, peace !
Stay strong. Tore my ACL twice with my last surgery 10 years ago. I was 17 and tore it, thought I recovered an I tore it again a year later. No doubt you have better care than what I had, but just keep it up. Get it moving right after surgery and try to limit the pain meds to as little as possible. Also push for your own graft and skip a cadaver graft. I still have issues to this day which limits my skating but I'm sure you'll be the same with your motivation based on the video. Best of luck.
You used him as inspiration, but it’s all YOU for learning those tricks!
I totally feel the same!
Rite in bloom was the part that blew my mind
Wish you a good recovery! The knee is a scary thing to injure, but with your determination I'm sure you'll make it back better than ever 👊

I love Paul’s mindset. Such a strong individual
You've got this man! Always a class act, even with an annoying baseball dad cracking jokes while your sitting there contemplating your entire existence.

So you are human after all. Best of luck in recovery Prod ✌🏼🙏🏼
I've been watching you since the early 2000s, and you are an inspiration for us old guys. I wish you a speedy recovery, brother.

This is hard to sit back and watch one of the worlds greatest skaters plagued with injury. I feel your pain.

Surely you'll get out of this situation much stronger not only physically but psychologically
Im not looking back, im only looking forward. So much relate.

I'll pray for your full recovery and restoration, and peace of mind and spirit brother.
